but would like to switch out some gear, particularly looking for a new main hand with more crit damage and a socket. I run ACT3/MP7 with few if any deaths, so I wonder if some of my 8.4% LS can be sacrificed so I can get a reasonably priced main hand without LS. My resistances and damage reduction are both about 70% when buffed and my LoH is 563.
I pretty much see non-stop 250k average crits, and that's without the damage rend is doing, without LoH and without my white damage. I figure at that rate I'm gaining at least (8.5% x 20% for inferno) x 250,000 (assume a crit per sec) = 4500 Life/sec + rend + minimal LoH. Is that overheal?
I think the best Way would be to just test it. Drop an items with LL and look how it goes. I'm wondering myself if 9% is a bit overkill
Thanks, I did just that. I switched out my belt and thus reduced my LS from 8.4 to 5.5 ... as well as losing 13% frenzy damage (which plays a big role in LS) I can safely say that the 8.4 was overkill(overheal). The only time I saw my health go down to about 90% was scampering after range mobs while others were firing at me, which always happens. And I died once, but that was because I was testing the LS ... standing in the plague pools of a champion mob of 3 desecrator, plague doom troopers --- that's hard to survive at the best of times ... and I'd leap out usually. But it stood up to a few arcane beams in close range with no problem. So, I guess I can now try to swap out my main hand.
Thanks for sharing this! I may try to swap my 3% LL passive for Brawler and give it a try too
hehe ... Brawler is a great skill! One trick you'll soon discover is to select the toughest mob in a pack to kill first while you're surrounded, you want to take full advantage of that 30% against the hardest kill (think tremors, warlords, extra health elites).
Look at your damage and that should be a good indicator about your LS. If you've got 100k+unbuffed you're fine at 6%LL. However you need to account for your Armor/AR/life/and LoH (for reflect mobs) as well.
I agree with Stephenk291. With 3%LL on my belt and 3% from Bloodthirst ~6% @ 100k+ dps feels just right. I'm usually key farming on MP6 or 7 but I'm using a 2H HoTA/Rend spec. The LL % might be higher if you're running a WW spec, not sure though.
which is better though bloodthirst or tough as nails?
I'd say either go for more dps & lifesteal with bloodthirst or get more LL% on your gear overall & tough as nails. I don't think there would be a need to double up once you have enough of it from just your gear.

I'm a melee type barbarian (I know that sounds redundant, but as opposed to a WW, I'm a brawler). I'm having great fun with my build
