My 2662k dps damage output throw-barb

  • #21
Last night was playing with your hota build (cus -fury on weapon throw items are generaly expensive).
I was supriced how well i did on MP7. (lacking survivability for higher mp...with little more armor/ar and hp i would def try it)
I even had to solo uber magda and sk with 3 party members dead on mp7, (sk has 170mln hp) And i did it.
The dmg is insane. Didnt need life steal on skorn tho.. with rend and 2.80 on belt i was perfectly fine.

This would be an absolute riot to put together if I could afford to do so!

i tested you hota build with my dual wield and its soooo much fun!

Awesome gear, build and vid :)

As mentioned, needing more MP levels is just a paradox, as You have the gear players farm lower MP levels to progress!
  • #26
I hope to never meet you in a PVP arena. I don't have the FPS to realize what happened.

Ive gotten a little new gear after i made this video, so i thought i could see how much faster i can kill him now.

    This is my result: (44sec)

If we do the math on the updated kill we get:

    Azmodan had 138425408 health points:

    138425408/44=3146032
    3146032/1000= ~3146 k dps --> 3.1 million damage per sec :D

kinda serious question. (please read next sentence in caps in a shouting manor)

How in the hell do you deal with reflect damage mobs? (end shouting)

with only 3% lifesteal, i just dont see how its possible O_O?
  • #29
These builds are definitely amusing. However unfortunately they are never going to match sprint's farming efficiency simply because movement speed is much more important than damage dealing, and besides, sprint deals a lot of damage too if not more (assuming equal level/budget of gear).

Even just having to stop in order to attack is enough to make a build inferior.

Maybe if they made high monster power pay off rather than be a waste of time for farming, then these super-high-damage builds would make more sense. But since the bonuses for high MP are useless, you are bound to farm lower MP levels where you faceroll everything even if your DPS is 400k, and at those MP levels movement speed is much much more important.

Sorry to ruin the part, and no disrespect to the OP, as after all this is a cool variation that's funny to see from time to time, but if people want to be efficient they really shouldn't be trying to do this.

Damage mitigation is the key word here.

The more you got the "better" your lifesteal/hp sec/life on hit gonna be for you.

Like if u have a barb with 100k life and semi good allres+armor, giving him a EHP of 1.5mil.
And a other barb have 50k life and very good allres+armor, also giving him a EHP of 1.5mil.

Now if both players have 1000loh, the 100k hp barb only get 1% hp (+15000 EHP) back from one hit.
The 50k hp barb get 2% hp (+30000 EHP) back per hit.

So even if both barbs have the same EHP, the loh is twice as effective on the high damage mitigation barb.

And its the same with lifesteal/liferegen/life on hit like i said above.

In my case i have a pretty high dps that scales perfect with lifesteal + high damage mitigation.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think the ideal for a barb is around 50-60k hp. Better to stack mitigation after you reach that point.

Also i cant find the link right now, but reflect damage from moobs are physical. Thats why iam stacking physical res, and for pvp ofc. :) (weapons do mostly physical damage)

The 2 vids in this thread are only for singel target dps, call it a benchmark vs azmodan. (if u haven't noticed there is some rivalry going on) :)

This is my low level mpl build:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txmPknG7YIQ

And this one i use for high mpl: (and ├╝ber bosses)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zu-pJ_pq4MA

The ww+tornado build is a faster farming build at low mpl levels. But at high mpl levels, the throw + hammer stomp it. (goblins are easy at mpl10 as shown in video)

I have better gear now then i had i those videos, so farming is a little faster now.

If your build gets more loot/hour in low MP than it does in high MP, though, and a sprint/whirlwind barb gets more loot/hour than you at low MP, then a sprint/whirlwind barb gets more loot/hour than you. It doesn't matter how fast you can kill stuff in MP10 if you can't get more loot/hour in MP10 than other builds can get at any MP level. In the end, loot/hour (measured by its gold/euro/dollar value), xp/hour and hellfire rings/hour are the only real measurements for effectiveness, and you're not going to maximize any of them at MP10 no matter what build you use because monster HP is simply too high there.

Only thing that comes close is hellfire ring farming efficiency because the drop rates on keys and parts scale so differently than XP and loot do, and even then you'll need a LOT of DPS for anything above MP8 to be worth considering.

Doing MP10 right now is nothing more than something to do to earn coolness points on youtube. Not that those don't have any value, monetizing your video can get you some euros/dollars too not just loot sold on RMAH, but you get the idea :)

He's clearing MP10 pretty darn fast dude. At the very least MP9 has to be worthwhile with that much DPS.
  • #34
    wow, insane stuff
  • #35
If you take more than twice as long to clear MP10 than I take to clear MP0 then you're wasting your time doing MP10 (and wasting your gold on getting the gear to do it). Of course, the OP must know that already and made the video just for the coolness factor, but the rest seem to not realize it...

And no. MP9 would still not be worthwhile. Even not compared to MP0, and especially not compared to some kind of low-ish MP level. HP of monsters simply scale way too fast while the MF and XP just don't scale fast enough. It's about time people realized that...

very nice build, have to try this out when im rich

    really nice dps

All of the information here is awesome! As a returning-veteran-turned noob, would anyone mind going over how to actually utilize the skills in these builds? Their "rotation" as it were. I'm starting from scratch at level 1 with a barbarian and would greatly appreciate a brief overview of how to actually use these builds. Thanks!

PS: I would much rather have sent this as a private message to Erlend, but I don't have 10 posts yet so I couldn't.

I don't cover the EXACT build shown here, but I do have a guide that covers Weapon Throw in general. Might help you.

There are break points where it is no more efficient to do mp0 than doing mp1, which occur when you aren't taking any longer to kill things with more hp. With enough dps, its possible to go up several mp levels, because you will be 1shotting mobs (or killing them within the same time span) even if you did lower mp levels. This can make higher mp levels worth it.

If you're only farming for keys or organ pieces, its also possible that higher mp levels are more efficient, if the time saved by doing fewer runs is greater than the time saved by doing runs faster. If it takes you 4 minutes to do mp5 runs, and 5:00 to do mp10 runs, the mp10 runs would be more effective.

So while mp10 might not be the best for him, with that much dps, he could probably do mp 3 (or higher) without losing enough time to make it less valuable.
