Impunity will be a far cry from worthless (har de har). I am toying with crushing advance since it gives you comparable survivability + dps as a bonus. Thing is warcry tends to keep my wotb afloat between mobs pretty frequently so that in itself will be a loss.
Why would it become worthless? And what's the point in swapping one defensive ability for another?
The way I see it is that it will still be great, because:
1. it's one of the best party buffs in game
2. the net buff of survivability will allow us drop some AR from gear and get more DPS/MF instead
3. this buff will still be mandatory VS mobs with increased difficulty
It's really not a nerf if you read the article. Yes, the numbers are going down in effectiveness, but they are lowering the dmg of everything even more so you can choose other things and not have mandatory skills.
Maybe "worthless" wasnt the best choice of words, but 50%- to 20% is a huge blow unless you are stacking all resistance gear. I have a friend who uses crushing advance, he likes it. I think its cooldown is a bit long however.
IMO ... all of the shouts need a makeover. Cooldowns are too long and either the rune affects need to be better or at least allow skill swapping between defensive skils.
Im personally leaning towards staying with War cry-impunity, mainly because of using it as fury generator when needed (tornado here aswell).
Might test overpower with crushing advance again, but I doubt I will stick with it.
You might be pleasantly surprised. I've tried it and it is already close to impunity in terms of survivability (my res is low so I still struggle with trash moloks/witches without impunity - elites I'm fine due to ll/loh). Desecrator/arcane also seems to hurt a bit more. I plan on upping my res (will probly get 2 ik pieces in the next week or two) and then I fully expect ca to be superior to impunity even pre patch (minus the wotb upkeep I mentioned earlier). One downside is this makes ww/nado barb even more anti social.
im pretty sure warcry will still be a mandatory skill, its impossible for blizzard to get it right when it comes to skill diversity
Not impossible if they take the time to listen to what we say. If they look at elemental monster damage and lower it overall this alone would offer skill diversity....but at the cost of everyone saying they are making the game too easy. I'd like to see the environment (exploding barrels, meteors, falling walls, falling objects, etc.) have more effects on damage both to monsters and players. If fire causes damage to a player it should do the same to a monster imo.

I can't help but feel like you're missing the essential context of this nerf: All enemy damage is being lowered in amounts exceeding what would be required to simply offset the nerf on the ability.
Meaning: Post 1.05, with Warcry: Impunity you will take LESS damage than you do currently. If you don't use Warcry:Impunity, you will take LESS damage than you do on live. Basically if you already don't use Warcry, you will take less damage in 1.05. If you already do use warcry, after 1.05 with war cry you will take less damage.
No matter how you slice it, you take less damage in 1.05 unless you use war cry now and drop it in 1.05. Anyone who stays using it or continues to not use it will take less damage.
Ah the misinformed...even when blizzard tells you in the most simple of terms...people still get confused.
Yes their nerfing impunity, however their also nerfing overall dmg by 25% for inferno. So you're pretty much still going to come out on top regardless. There are some viable builds where you don't even need the skill anymore, and even some WW build variations where its not used anymore.
Hell I use a 1hander and stormshield for my WW build, many people don't think it works well...but it certainly does.
So im assuming that WC-impunity will be mostly worthless after the patch, think I might try Ignore Pain in its place. (tornado barb) fyi
What to do , so many decisions...
I will be replacing warcry with rend personally.
Jut need to switch 1-2 armor pieces with res and I'm good to go.
I have toyed with that idea too. rend is cool and powerful- but if i go all offense I might have to just add leap ( biggest thing i miss from my transition from Sword and Shield to Tornado)
Current inferno might be nerfed, but with addition of monster level, this damage nerf won't matter most likely. So yeah, it's a huge nerf, because it's the only skill that buff our resistances.
and the damage reduction still scales per each one of these levels, some people currenty dont even use the skill in 1.04 so your point is irrelivant. its a flat nerf across the board if anything.

in what world do you live in? the reason for all these nerfs and tweaks was so that you dont need warcry in "normal" inferno but if you increase difficulty you will want to use it
and some people dont even use it? fyi ~95% barbs that have badass gear use it, and i dont think the number goes down with lower gear quality
There have been a few different variations once the gear is there where revenge or even ignore pain have been used, thus why I said SOME. Certainly its implied that you wont need it at normal level inferno and yes I'm sure if you pump up the difficulty to 3-4 players you'll notice the need for it again. But at the current inferno level there is certainly build diversity out there when it comes to WW builds.
Not to change the subject entirely but, why do the majority of tornado barbs i see use bash vs cleave. Cleave can hit several targets thus gaining fury for each object hit. Sometimes when im low i hit a group of barrels and BOOM full fury... with bash a group of enemies comes towards u with bash, u hit one once or twice and sometimes u still dont have enough fury. I may be a minority here but i feel that Cleave is way better than Bash.
it's a buff, I'm using rend now and with patch I wil still be using rend taking even more less damage. Because they lowered the monster damage they had to lower warcry buff cause with that and monster debuff we would be unkillable.
It's impossible to know how to spec until we know all of the changes of the patch. The monster power system is going to affect the way that we play but we have no clue how it will actually work yet. If it just boosts mob hp then we won't have to worry about changing our defenses and will just need more dps, but if it increases mob ilvl/dmg too then we will have to find a new balance between dps and defenses. We know impunity is being nerfed but we don't know if other skills are being nerfed too.

I'm pretty sure blizzard was pretty specific as to which skills they were nerfing, that part seemed clear. There is some uncertainty still as to the monster difficulty. You are right there is no way to know until the patch hits, but i dont think they got specific about the nerfed skills b/c they didnt want any major surprises in that dept.
