The reason I asked is because I just notice that even RRowland has switched to the double tornado build. At the moment my stats are 40k HP, 39k DPS, 800 AR with warcry and 6600 Armor. I'm struggling really bad at the beginning of Act 3. It took me about 4-5 swings on average to kill something (with cleave) and I'm just taking way too much damage.
Any advice for me or has 2H spec became obsolete already?
Why wouldn't it be possible to clear something as 2H when they did it before? Not like they nerfed the spec or buffed mobs or something.....
Looking at your stats I would suggest trying the 2 armor passives and see how it goes with that. I can clear act3 fairly easy with 2H and defensive passives. Just needs some proper use of leap/ignore pain. I only have 25k dps in the process of getting more dps without sacrificing other stats.
Yes it is viable as I've done it from time to time (It's still a bit challenging with my gear and act2 is giving more reward/time until I gear up a bit more).
Based on your stat I'd say try to get more res, if at all possible. I've noticed that 700-800 is the bare minimum to do act3, but going 900 to 1000 allows you to live significantly more. I know it can be kinda hard to get res up to 1k as 2h barb.... but if you could then it can become much easier.
What is your build like? I think the best way to go 2h for act3 now (until you overgear it a bit, after that you can do whatever you want) is by relying mostly on slam and do a bit of midrange kiting.
I wouldn't go with cleave as you wouldn't want to be hitting more than 2 mobs at a time (if you can hit them in melee range, so can they). The key is to try to minimize the number of mobs that can hit you at a time. You have to do a lot of stutter step, hit and back up, so you only hit one mob at a time (and only one mob hit you). For this reason I find bash works much better. Also with 150% damage from bash it's much easier to 1-2 shot mobs compare to cleave.
I really wish Blizzard would put in Profiles already.
You ask if it's still possible to do Act3/4 with two handers. The answer is yes, but your gear has to be superior to that of a corresponding Sword and Board or Dual Wielder. You lack the necessary stats to do it efficiently based on what you've told us. Need more HPs and Resists and even then you're going to be kiting. Unfortunately 2H doesn't lend itself to standing in the middle of champion packs the same way the other builds do because of a less defensive nature or life gaining strategy.
You use the word obsolete concerning 2H, I believe the word obsolete is not the appropriate word, inferior I think is more suiting. You don't play 2H because it's a better build to kick ass with, you use because you enjoy the play style and seeing big numbers. With enough gear, you can force 2H to do well, but it will never match sword and board or dual wield in terms of survivability or damage output, respectively. Dual wield will continue to dominate damage until critical damage is capped in some way or until 2Hers get two sockets. Never has the game been more easy on 2H players than right now, so if you can't make it work now, you would have really had a hard time prior to the nerf.
I feel like going from act 2 to 3 is a really big leap in terms of difficulty. I'm having a real hard time trying to kill stuff in act 3. It seems like even normal white mob took forever to kill which in turn makes me even more vulnerable to attack.
Erm, isn't the point of 2H to use Seismic Slam? Seems to be missing from your build. Personally I feel EQ is a waste because the things that are really going to be a challenge are elite Fallen casters/pterodactyls. These mobs will just walk right out of EQ unless you were able to corner them and even then you probably only get one of them to stand in it. If you grab Seismic you can shoot them while said douchebags are running around trying to spray you with Molten and Fire Chains or whatever. The only exception here is elite Phase Beast in which case EQ counters them nicely but you are only going to hit one pack of these right before Azmodan MAYBE.
i farm a3 everyday with my 2h barb and a full clear takes like 2 hours.I mainly skip all white mobs and look for rares WoTB/EQ then alttab until cd is ready and run again :)I also solo cleared a4.
50k dps , 800 ar , 50k life 3% LS ez game
JEEBUS how the hell can you get 50k dps AND 50k life while keeping 800 res???
I've been working my ass off to boost my dps up to 40k and sometimes 45k, but my hp suffered greatly. Now I'm only at around 32k hp.
I can work on getting my hp up... but then my res or dps drop to nothing
When ppl says Viable, what they didn't tell is that you can't stand and tank adds while you are dps'ing a grp of mobs. SNB > Hit run hit run.
I think what some build is missing is the excitement to feel "Superior" where you stand and surrounded by packs and packs of adds, and not die. Sure, you'll have fun for that short period with Tornado build or hit and run with 2H, but nothing can replace the feeling of tanking with 2H/DW, killing tonnes of adds, not to run away, and killing everything in your path. That is what barb is suppose to do. Hit run is boring,
I cleard act 3 and act 4 with 40k dps 39k hp and 800 ressi 3% life steal + 405 LoH(both from wep) ofc i have issues with some champion packs but I think most ppl have one pack or the other they have issues with ofc with all ya CDs up it becomes a non issue. ps: run EQ, Wotb , ignore pain , war cry, revanage and frenzy.
What passives are you using? My stats are very close to yours but I have no lifesteal nor LoH. I think that's what I'm missing to be able to sustain the damage and heal myself. I'm really thinking of switching to DW build, though, to be able to get LoH but if I do that my DPS will be severely reduced because i don't have enough money to get 2 decent 1Handers.
I'm slowly progressing through act 3 and are making my way to Ghom. I've been getting some very bad elite combos (shielding, arcane, desecrator, jailer). I'm not throwing in the towel yet!
double WW is just faster to kill stuff and you are pretty much un-killable.
Personally ive had elites enrage on me and ive still been able to kill them
I've been considering this too but i don't think it's really my style. Besides I don't have enough gold to get the gears.

There's always a down side in every so called "Viable" spec, no such thing as "Bang for bucks". It all narrows down to what kinda play style you like,
