I agree with Lorien, I have been bouncing between Act 1 & 2 because Act 1 is somewhat tiring the millionth time. I can blow through Act 1 and not blink an eye, Act 2 there's some tricky mobs. Fast stealth snakes, and fast bug swarms can be brutal.
For Act 2 I like to start at the the Road to Alcarnus quest, run through the prior areas usually I can find between 15-20 packs between the first way point and right after Maghda.
It's a tradeoff though, Act 2 without a doubt I get a ton more high level items but I'm also likely to rack up a good 60-100k in repair bills if the wrong affixes come up.
That's the other thing, farming Act 1 I feel like I net a minimum of 50k profit after repair from vendoring and gold drops alone. Whereas Act 2 I break even (all this is not including item's that will be AH'd off)
In Diablo, half of the battle is getting 60+ gear to drop. That of course can be increased by doing later acts. One thing you can never increase is the chances of your item rolling all the right stats. Diablo is all about LUCK....end of story.
Yep act 1 works for me as well, run 201 base mf and still have 400+ resist all and 20k+ dps on my barb. Best find was a fist weapon 1142ish dps, with a socket got 28mil for that i sold last week. Most the stuff is crap but every once and a while....
What routes do you guys take in Act 1? Do you start at the imprisioned angel chapter and just work through there or do you have different points of interest to gain stacks before doing a butcher run?
Start at festering woods 2-3 guaranteed elites / 2-3 random
Leorics mannor 1 guaranteed outside / 1-2 random
Northern highland 1-2 near waypoint, go northwest to check for watch tower 2-6 + resplend
Catherdral lvl 3 1 guaranteed
North of town 2-4 chance for cave w/ an additional 2-4 + replend
Cemetary normally 6 + event
Finish w/ halls of agony 2 to warden/butcher
I found an 870 dps dagger with 700 LoH on it. Also found a nice amulet with 150 or so dex, 400 LoH and Poison Res on it. I have found other really good items too in Act 1, just those are the only I remember as I currently have those equiped.
I make 5-10 mil a day farming act 1. My barb has 48k dps, 56k hp, 600 res and 9k armor so im able to do act 3 it just takes a lot longer. I like being able to finish a run in less than 30 mins and be able to browse the ah right away.
honestly it's all luck, my monk can do act 1 & 2 without gear swapping ( 315 mf with follower and 5 stack nv). with 7xx all resist and 15k dps
seriously after 3 weeks of farming (i run 2 act 1s and 1 act 2 each day) i could only find a helm that was 10 mil, the rest of the stuff is pure junk (none of them can be sold over 1 mil)
i think i've gotten over 100 ilvl 63 1handers (including buying those unidentify ones for cheap) and none of them proc over 800 dps LOL.
