Hey guys, with the nerf for Inferno in place is Andariels Visage still considered the best helm in game?
I can get my hands on a good one reasonably cheap but not sure if the money can be spent on something better.
A week ago I would have said no.
Stats on helm I'am looking at are 273 armor, 6% attack speed, 95 life regen, 3% crit, 117 strength and a slot.
Mainly a dps helm with no Vitality at 3 million gold, a lot, so want to make sure I'am not buying something outdated now.

with the nerf thats not necceserily true anoymore, you can go more dps oriented, but then there are better slots to do that.
And if you have a lot of crit dmg crit% itself becomes more valuable than ias, so 6% ias is not THAT much anymore - still good. but spending 3 million and sacrificing other stats...not worth it imho
Thanks guys, I'll have a look on the AH and see what else there is.
Is crit now a stat worth looking at over attack speed?
I've never really looked for it in any gear so is that something post patch I should keep an eye out for?
I've always looked for strength, vitality, life on hit, life regen, attack speed and all resist on gear in the past so should I be looking at changing that line of thought for Inferno?
Halfway through act 1 with something like 24 for all resists so about to spend the money and do a total upgrade.
I just dont want to buy something I think is right when its wrong.

Thanks mate, have to admit after scouring the AH for upgrades I've given myself a headache.
The gear with the right stats is like 5-10 million each so a little out of my price range.
So been trying to buy pieces for under one million each with stats that will work and its just not happening.
I gave up on attack speed and life regen, took crit damage/strength/resist all as prime stats while trying to keep up vit.
Weapon wise trying to find something with crit damage/life on hit and strength but again its just hard to fit everything in under one million.
+Armor isnt a biggie now?
Also fire is the main resist to look for after resists all?

Armor is still something to look for. It does decrease all damage taken, after all. It's just that All Resist is better. I wouldn't go looking for Armor specifically, but if it comes down to two items where one item has +200 armor over the other and one has +10 Strength over the other (or similar cases) I would take the Armor one.
After All Resist I'd look for Physical Resist then Fire Resist. Everything hits you for Physical damage. Only certain monsters and affixes have Fire damage.
One thing I will say though is I still dont really understand resists, I mean I now have over 400 resist all in act 1 and I still get raped by arcane sentries and molten fire.
If I'am walled in then I expected the resists to help out but honestly I'am just getting hammered.

Well it's not all about resists. What's your health at? Armor? If you're using a shield, block% and amount? Do you have any Life on Hit and/or Life Regen?
Act 2 nerfed or not is just ridiculous, its just constant frustration after frustration.
I'am not really seeing any return for all the gold I spent today on resists except maybe I dont die a second quicker than I would without them.
Arcane torrents just eat me alive, there is no resist.
My stats are resists 500-600 unbuffed, with Warcry/Impunity 770-900, dps is 17891 but with Battle Rage becomes 24350 and health is 25200 so maybe a little low, armor is 7588.
I'am using dual wield and have 524 life on hit and 1300 life after kill with 181 regen.
Regen was a lot higher but had to sacrifice it for other stats.
So for where I'am, act 2 on the way to Dahlgur Oasis I thought my stats were good enough to get by.
Heres my build: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#WVkiSP!bVc!aacacZ
Yeah I know its Inferno and I know its not supposed to be easy but omg theres a difference between a challenge and banging your head against a brick wall every 5 minutes.
In nearly 30 years of playing games this is waring me down.

I did use a shield through Nightmare but got sucked in by the dps monster telling me more dps with the 15% attack speed bonus was the way to go.
Maybe your right there....I also used Ignore Pain for awhile there but substituted it for War Cry that I wasnt using at the time.
Not sure what I'd drop to add it back in.
And Leap, well it just confuses me.
I see a lot of builds with it I just thought there was better skills to use instead.
Is it really worth having, I had it back in normal mode and dropped it for Furious Charge.
So its looking like I may have a build issue, I've seen Seismac Slam mentioned a lot as well but again I'am unsure what is necessary and what is personal choice.
If your walled in by a blue mob pack with arcane sentries and molten fire I dont really think anything is going to help to be honest.
It just seems so situational and I just seem to be having a bad run at the moment.

Thanks mate, I've gone back to act 1 to try leap out instead of Furious Charge so see how that goes.
I liked Charge though it was a good oh crap skill for a quick boost of life if needed or to just get out of here.
Leap will do the same just no life, got to get used to having the time to point and click out of the mob attack I'am in without dieing to actually jump.
How do you manage without Battle Rage?
I could flick it and put Furious Charge back in but I've used it since I got it and its habit now.
I do have 17k unbuffed dps and I know you said 8k was ok but.......
The little voice in my head saids must have more dps.
I'll factor out Beserker Rage and go for Superstition, so between that and Leap see what happens.
I'll get used to it first before going back to act 2.
Maybe I'll even take Battle Rage out and put Charge back in, now thats scarey
edit..I could run without Furious Charge so took Battle Rage out, easy enough in act 1 but dont know how it will go in act 2

I did have around 38k health at one stage but the general consensus in other threads was with the nerf defense was out and offense was in so I dropped some to allow for my resists.
Dropping BR is noticeable and still not real comfortable without it but I'll persevere and see if Leap gets me out of strife when I need it.

Storm68, your stats and original spec are fine - just need to adjust playstyle. When you run into an arcane pack, you can't just stand in them and smash face. Kite and avoid until they have placed a few orbs and you are away from them > wotb > profit. When you wotb, be mindful to move a bit to keep an eye for more arcane sentries.
Nightmare + Arcane atm is VERY frustrating thanks to the bug where arcane can fear you indefinitely. On those I will use my original kiting as best as possible and then go absolutely balls to the wall on them when I can get them away (wotb breaks/ignores cc from nightmarish)
Waller also makes an arcane pack difficult - this is somewhere where leap attack might be > furious charge. Proper kiting and a descent wall spawn and you'll be fine with furious charge, though.
btw here are my stats (with war cry/battle rage) and I'm fine in A2
31846 hp
525-634 resists
22647.97 dps
17% crit chance
121% crit damage
1372 str
902 vit
201 mf (no nv)
1034 LoH
dual wielding 800 & 650 dps weapons
Hope this helps.
Edit: your hp is pretty low at 25k - try to get in the low-mid 30k range. A great way to do this is to buy weapons with +vit. My offhand has +300 vit
Thanks guys, wish I had kept all my vitality now and didnt sacrifice so much for other stats.
I'll go to the AH, again, and see what I can find that wont cost a kidney.
WotB is what I use at the start on blue packs in an effort to burn them down but went through a phase yesterday where they all had molten fire trails and arcane sentries that were wallers.
Usually I'll smash what I can, see a sentry drop and move away just out of reach and keep dpsing until walled in.
I didnt havent leap then so hopefully thats the difference and no I dont just stand there, thats just instant death and with repair bills between 20-40k not a real great way to spend my money.
Thanks again for the help.
edit....after a bit of shopping, a new weapon and ring, I got my health up to 40k and dps down to 16k.
I still have 2 kidneys so thats a good thing, I'll try act 2 with some good advice and see how it goes.

Well I do now have 41k health which is really helping and I changed my Revenge rune to Provocation as suggested, thanks for the tip.
Edit...actually not a great tip at all, its an EXCELLENT tip. Changing this rune has made a drastic difference. Thank you again mate for your attention to detail because I never saw it.
