I played some 2h last night in acts 1 and 2 with a 1170dps axe, and it was just so much fun watching things die so quickly. You definitely have to kite a little more, but man it is fun. Standing in place with a sword n board for 5 minutes (exaggerating the exact time) before something dies just isn't the same.
I've always enjoyed playing the 2h barbarian. Plus I love seeing the Earthquake (Path of Fire) + Ignore Pain (Ignorance is Bliss) laying waste to champs/rares when using a good 2h weapon.
I'm only in Hell Act 3 and I can feel my current weapon getting weaker, so I may need to upgrade soon.
I am glad you guys are trying it out, that's what it's all about!
Yup, it's tons of fun in Acts I and II. Though in Act III I got owned. I guess I'm giving up too many defensives with the crit gear I had. I'll have to look for some more Vitality/All Resist/Strength/Crit gear later.
How are you doing with the build post-patch? Were you all that heavy on IAS? Would you still recommend IAS over Crit and Crit Damage? Also, I was thinking about trying Frenzy, but you said in one of your videos that you found Bash to have a longer reach. Do you still find this the case?
Sorry for all the questions. I've got the build down myself, but I wanted some info that I can't get right now since I just started this today.
No problem, I am using frenzy now since I can take hits (a lot of hits lol). I also switched out some survivability for MF gear, I am up to 310% with NV now. I am moving away from IAS although it still is a great stat its harder to get on gear. I am focuing a lot more on crit dmg/crit chance + MF gear with high STR. I am just facerolling stuff now its not that much fun :(.
Would you mind to tell your exactly build and actual stats?
I have 50k dps unbuffed, around 900 resists, fire being 1100 and 43k HP.
I'm using a Frenzy (first rune)+Leap (armor rune)+Revenge (30% chance)+WoTB (100% Dmg)+resists shout+ignore (life steal rune)
Act 3 seems hard with this build. I see that yu used seismic+bash, and no revenge or leap or frenzy.
Could you explain why? Probably because of not having a shield to tank/heal with revenge?
Act 2 was just a joke, did the full act in less than 2 hours with my barb, but act 3 trash is killing me, a lot!
Should I change my build, get more dps, more resists? What do you think?
And great videos, thanks.
It's not the main focus of your post, I know, but some people aren't aware of this:
Ignore Pain with Ignorance is Bliss (20% of damage dealt is returned as life) is subject to the same penalties as the life steal stat on items. In Inferno, you are subjected to an 80% reduction. You only get 20% of the 20% of your damage as life. So in reality, the Ignorance is Bliss rune only gives you 4% of damage as life in Inferno.

I keep hearing people say this, and I'm 99% sure it is not subject to the 80% reduction. Back when I used to be the tank build with only about 8k damage, my health would skyrocket from 50% to full when I used this skill. I just can't believe that it would heal me that much with only 4% Damage to Health.
Since people keep saying this, I guess I'll have to go test it myself when I get home later. I really want to know if skills are exempt from the 80% reduction that the Life Steal stat is subject to.

Did you have any life on hit as well? It seemed to be true in my experience, and I recall Kripp testing it on livestream just before his Hardcore Inferno Diablo kill and he found the same thing, which prompted him to not use it for that fight.

I'm almost sure that is just 4%.
At WoTB let's say, you do 200k crits. that would be 40k hp per crits with 20% life steal, which doesn't seem to be true and looks OP. However, same hits with 4% would heal you for 8k, which looks "ok". If you were using revenge, then even with 4% would easily heal you up super fast.

If true, this will suck once I hit inferno
Because what I do now is run up to the champ/rare mobs and do the following...
1. Vortex them in using Ground Stomp (Wrenching Smash)
2. Hit Wrath of the Berserker (Insanity) - 15 sec duration
3. Drop Earthquake (Path of Fire) - 8 sec duration
4. Hit Ignore Pain (Ignorance is Bliss) - 5 sec duration
By using a good 2-hander and the above in the order specified (due to skill duration) I kill most, if not all of the champs/rare and any other mobs around and I'm kept full life the entire time.
The only thing that sucks about the above method is when I get champ/rare mobs that run away from me and I can't vortex all of them in at once. :/

You'll still be kept at full health throughout the duration of Ignore Pain (at least thats how it is for me atm, and I have very low survivability stats), simply because your earthquake will do a fuckton of damage (as I'm sure you already know :P).
As for the vortex part, I think you'll have to switch your spec around a bit, especially if you plan on going beyond act 1. Unless you have godlike gear, you'll most likely need some kind of pseudo "ranged" ability, like seismic slam in order to kite when your cooldowns are down. I can't say for sure, since I haven't tried it, but from what I can see now in my situation this is the conclusion I've reached.
And yes, champs that run away are a pain in the ass, nothing sucks more than throwing down your earthquake only to see the mobs just casually walk out of it without taking much damage.
That sucks about the Ground Stomp vortex. I haven't used seismic slam in forever and would miss the 4 second stun, which helps hold mobs still for Earthquake.
And no godlike gear for me. Only using drops I found and a 535 dps weapon I bought on the GAH.
As far as stats go, I have just shy of 50k life, around 5.5k damage and just over 5k armor with the Enchantress. My resists suck tho. Highest is only 77. I need to make some improvements before I hit Inferno.
I bought a 1400+ dps 2 hander for this build with 1300 life on kill (10 million).....and ohhh my god is this strong. A single seismic slam can bring me all the way back to 100% life on a large amount of mobs......this build has serious damage output. Instead of bash I use Frenzy with Maniac however. Post 1.0.3 this build is very viable.
My main focus has been crit chance (43%) and crit dmg (325%).
I thought I was the only one who loves Pound of Flesh! It may not be optimal for dps or tanking, but gd it's a life saver when kiting around with this 2h build.

Yep, i cant live without it tbh:) i leave many globes behind so i can backtrack with elites on my heels when needed
Do you think the requirements have been lowered (dps/resist) wise to thoroughly and easily farm A3?
Definitely. I've done Act III up to Siegebreaker (and Arreat Crater Level 1, though the difficulty goes up after Siegebreaker) since the patch with this build, whereas I was having trouble starting Act III with a tank build pre-patch.
