Like many posters here, I ran into quite a dissapointment when entering act II. My damage output is fine for now, but I die almost instantly. I already changed up my build a bit (picked both armor passives and changed earthquake for leap):
Your hp is way to low, your armor and all resistance need to be bumped up aswell. Try looking for some chromatic archon armor pieces with high vit and all res. You should also switch your last dps passive for superstition to get the 20% dmg reduction against ranged and elemental attacks. This really helps against all the affixes that the champions have. Oh and your neck + rings should be replaced asap with those stats.
Get some blue 70 vit + 50 all res rings to get a nice boost on those stats.
Those rings won't have 11% block or loh then. So I'd consider them only a temporary solution. LoH in general shouldn't be zero.
Well he doesnt have a justice lantern and to buy one he would have to pay considerably more than for the vit all res ring.
Sure, you can buy near perfect blue armor pieces for almost nothing, because they have no base stat like weapons and offhands that dictates their value. I didn't browse through the items, but I'd keep the jewelry slots reserved for a lantern and loh items.
I think, the big goal in playing a Barb is staying topped off, you don't win fights because you wear mobs down faster than they do you, maybe one, maybe 5 but there is always more and you don't heal up in between (can't count how often I'd have loved to have "First Aid" from WoW). So you somehow have to regain life while fighting. Revenge does the most of that, when there are enough mobs. Charge can get you to full in an emergency but loh is the factor against single targets or small groups and the only one we can influence via items.
Start by droping pure dps items like amulet/gloves and low resist items. Search for all resists/phys resist/vit affixes, really often you can get them for affordable price - especially legs. Rare amultes and rings costs a lot, switch them for blue once with vit/all resist - those aren't overpriced. Sell your AS ring - can raise some cash with it. Buy blue weapon with 100str/100vit combination, they cost not much if you aim for 800 dps once (and 100 str affix will boost it by another ~100). Sell your helm of command and buy another one with socket and + armor affix, such helm would cost about 500-600K, but 15% hp from amethyst you craft yourself is strong.
All in all you're too high on dps and too low on resists/vitality/armor. Actually vitality is extremly low for unknown reason, given that both armor and survivability skills are scaling with it.
Makes sense. What would you recommend as a minimum value for loh to stay topped off most of the time?
You don't need LoH till you replace all your items with to reach under warcry 50-60K hp/ 700-800 resist all/~1K phys resist/~10K armor. LoH items are probably the most expensive once, so instead of buying 1-2 of them you can upgrade your full set and results will be plenty better then with 600 LoH but gimped primary stats.

Totally agree with this, life on hit is the last piece of the puzzle to put the icing on the cake.

Yes and no. Staying topped off consists of two parts: reducing incoming damage and gaining that much back. It's totally right that you can't eat hits of 5-7k and get that much back via loh, that's like fighting wind mills. So damage mitigation via resists, armor and block is of high importance. A high hp count on the other hand is not, 25k is too low because spikes can kill you but you're much better off with 40k and staying at those 40k than with 60k which are constantly dropping.
My resists are really crap compared to what most others suggest, maybe 350 unbuffed, yet I don't lose hp on Belial except for the bombing in p3, fist and breath are no problem. Not that they deal zero damage, but I get that much back before he strikes again.

Belial is the worst example you could think off - with zero LoH i tanked and spanked Belial only moving for meteors, he spawns enough globes to ignore him alltogether. After i switched Ouroboros (100 str/400 LoH/x/x/x amulet) to barb from monk killing Belial was no different then before.
Besides the more you're moving around the lower LoH value becomes and in Act 3 with ~56K hp/1050 phys res/~750 resists all/ ~900 fire resist/10K armor/400 LoH i can't stand in champions/elites face without iron impact/ignore pain up, becouse some are hitting for 7-9K through all my defences (not even mentioning how much you can get bursted for if they vortex you into arcane beam/desecration/anything else). So between dodging abilities/kiting to wait for cds there's not so much time i'm freenzy-clicking them. Meanwhille with high HP pool i can at least get decent heals from dreadnaught charge/revenge procs not to mention that white mob zergs becomes trivial.
Tbh playing monk i expected LoH to be really good for barbs becouse of 75% freenzy attack speed, but now i realise that between blind/serenity/deadly reach range and aoe factor monks benefit much more from LoH then barbs. I don't argue that LoH is a good stat, but it's at the same time most expensive stat that should be looked at after getting enough defensive stats to survive sticky situations and enough offensive stats to kill champs/elites before hiting enrage (18-18.5K dps with Berserker Rage passive).
P.S. Author asked what he needs to be ready for act 2 and advising him to get LoH items for insane prices instead of much cheaper way too boost his defensive stats is counterproductive unless he's going to spend serious cash in RMAH.
Try to keep raising your EHP when going for upgrades, also get some LoH maybe some from some rings/ammy if you cant afford a weapon, with enough EHP LoH can be very good. ;D

These are my current items:
And these are my current stats without War Cry.
What I gather from similar topics is that my life is incredibly low. Are there any other changes I should make? Any item I should definitely replace?
I'm actually trying to be only moderately tanky, but it seems that for now it's almost impossible to go full dps from act2 on :/
