Act II - Inferno: Yes, another thread about it

  • #1
So, I'm reading the topics about ACT II Inferno (+ the guide) and I still have questions about it.

Some people says you need 700res+, other you need 40k health, and other people says you need 9k armor… Ok, how can you achieve all this stats with Act I Inferno gear?! (or Hell/Nightmarish gear)

Really, right now, with my stats, me and a friend of mine (playing Demon Hunter with, I believe, 30-40k DPS) are able to farm Act I Inferno without any problem at all (yup, like me standing in the Plague/Chains/etc) but we are/were being ate alive in Act II.

The deal is: I couldn't find any upgrade in Act I so far. Not even gear for my "DPS" set… Am I really unlucky?

I believe my stats are low (if you compare to all the other topics) - as you can see, my DPS is kinda lame but, once again, i'm playing with a friend and she is doing the dps for us. Our issue, right now in Act II, is to get owned in 3-5secs.

Anyway, the real question is: How to get 40k health, 9k armor, 700res, 10k dps with the available gear in the content I can actually do?!

    Stats:
    https://fbcdn-sphoto...874969490_o.jpg

    - self-buffed: War Cry + Impunity

    Skills:
    http://us.battle.net...kYVP!abe!aYcZcY

    - I'm going to change my Ground Stomp to Furious Charge + Dreadnought and hope the mobs don't chase/kill her ;)

    - I might change the Pound of Flesh (witch is/was really useful so far) to Tough as Nail (25% armor)

    - Maybe changing Superstition to Relentless to do some testing[?].

    Thanks a lot
    V.

PS: Sorry bout the lame english, not my main language.

months and months of farming, or use the AH, i spent around 5mil to get trough act 2 but it should be a lot cheaper now

I'm currently 2/3rds of act 2, farmed inferno act 1 for a little over week. Only upgrades from AH are 1h weapon and shield. Guess I've just gotten lucky with the loot.

Also to add, I cant see your block % and block amount from that screenshot. They are _crucial_, also your dps is way too low.

I'm running this build atm: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#WSiVRk!VbZ!ccacZc

This will increase dps by having crit chance, critdamage from Ruthless and 30% dmg increase from Battle Rage.

Stuff with 30-40 All Resi and STR, VIT

Get a good and fast weapon (600+ dps and 400+ life on hit) and a shield with at least 20+ block. Gear with increased attack speed and block is also extremely good!

Also try using this spec: http://us.battle.net...kXVP!Vbe!accacZ
Be sure to spam leap regularly for the armor buff!

I run act 2 on my barb with 13k dps, 600 resist to all self buff, 45k HP and 9k armor with the enchantress.
Takes me 20-30 min to do a balial run with 5 stacks.

I can see that your helm is blue. Try to get a helm of command. Alot of people are crafting this helm and its possibly one of the best one for a barb.

If you farm act 1 salvage all the lvl 60 items. I can get easilly the mats for 2 of this helm in one day.

Drop some of your resist to get more armor. you really dont need that much for Act 2.\
Youre missing like 600 strengh which would help your dps and your armor.

    Hope it help

Swap Pound of Flesh with Tough as Nails, also when it comes to "Only act 1 gear" you can buy anything you want from the AH, so what you need to do is farm act 1, if you get items you need, good, use them, if not, sell them, gain gold, buy items on the AH.

I pretty much did that and just filtered allres, vit, str, and in some occasions +armor but they are usually rather expensive with all those affixes when you're down at act 1 atleast, however I kept just buying shit like that until I was geared enough, and in my opinion even if you have a DPS friend you should still get strength, not to mention it increases your armor by 1 each point which also makes it a good defensive stat when you have like 1200 strength.

D3 was released less than 1 month ago! ;D

But I got your point. /sadpanda.

Yes, I know. Like I said, I have a friend of mine doing the dps... right now i was focused in surviving (pure Stamina/All Resist Gear).

Not sure how much my % block and block value are. I think I don't have any gear with this kind of bonus =/
(I didn't know this stat was important for barbs - I noticed it after reading some posts today!)

But I will try to farm Act I once again and check AH (again) ehehheh

    Thanks.

Right now my weapons is around 619ish dps and i'm not sure about the block - gonna check it later (I didn't know this stat was so important for us, barbarians).

I used the Leap (+armor rune) when i was running Normal/Nightmare solo and having a lot of fun - gonna try it in Inferno too, thanks! :D

Gonna do it tonight and see how much costs the Helm!

Btw, all the blue pieces are >70vit >40allResist.

i call bullshit on this, with 13k dps it takes me 12min just to kill Belial so i cant see how you can get 5 stacks and kill Belial in just 30min

Wow...Your stats are real un even thats for sure...Your super heavy on the resist and Way to low on dps and Armor. Most of your problems are steming from the amount of physical damage you are taking and not block/dodge/negating.

I just went though this act II debocle myself also with a demon hunter. Step one. the almighty superstition. Ditch it. There are many threads about this all over, This dose not scale to the proper 20% once u hit Inferno due to the amount of resistances and armor you have on your own. (E.G i get hit for 100 - 50% armor takes damage to 50, 40% res takes damage to 10 , 20% of 10 damage is 2.)

Secondly Gear. Your super Heavy in your resist i cleared act II 550 min all res 800 physical and 800 fire. most people say around 700 but once u get higher enough armor and physical resistance u can see how much elemental damage your actually taking. The next factor that made this act super easy for me was LoH (Life on Hit). I noticed i was gettin chunked for mass amounts of my health by the stronger mobs and there were significantly less health orbs on Inferno (since i took off the orb passive for armor). So i countered this problem with a healthy 800-1000 Life on hit and a 1.9 ApS (attacks per second). there are some super cheap pieces on the AH u can aquire to help this (my first choice would be the Bul kathos wedding band. i got 144 LoH 24 all res and MF for 100k).
Now lastly DPS. I also had a demon hunter "DPS'n" for me but this game dont work like that...when a second player joins the mobs health almost doubles. If you arnt putting out your end no matter how good your DH is there not going to down mobs before u die. So how did I fix this for myself? I ditched my sword n board grabbed up a high dps 2h. My dps was around 20k, around 14k with 1h n shield.

Lastly my Skills. i used ground stomp > Wrenching Smash, Fury > Sidearm, Furious Charge > dreadnought, Revenge > Provocation, War Cry > Impunity , WotB > Insanity. Passives Nerves of Steal, Tough as nails, and i bounce between Ruthless and Zerker Rage (which i end up being full fury most time due to the no secondary skill/ rage dump).

    My General stats were

    35k Hp
    20k Dps
    8.3k Armor
500 Min All Res 800 Max
    0 Block
    17% dodge
    975 LoH
    1.9 APS
    12% crit 128% crit dmg

The real issue we found in act II was me/us dying before she had a chance to start killing stuff ;)

But I will change/buy new pieces - less resistance, more armor/str/vit - and see what happens!

    Thanks a lot!

Try to keep resistance/armor at a 1:10 ratio, in your case it's more like 1:5,6 ratio so double your armor. Next is increase your dps, 10-15k with 500+ LoH and then you should be fine.

I bought a 1.5spd 200dps 800+LoH dagger to tank while my friend did the dps, and still the way i like to play the barb. Atm in 1.4k physres/1.2k all res, 10k armor and 30k hp with 6k dps. Oh yeah, "no" block (what, 14%? or something?) and haven't bothered with dodge. Most people find that stupid but works for us and i like standing there untill i or the rarepack dies :P

Edit: and yeah, i should increase the hp somewhat but hey, allres+physres+str+vit (and preferably +armor and/or +int) is expensive at higher numbers, but i'm getting there! ;)

wroooong! :) 50% armor takes the dmg to 50, 40% resistance on that reduces the damage taken to 30, 20% of this is 6. When calculating these mitigation stats, you always take the new number. 50% armor and 50% resistance doesnt make you immune to everything

Get Tough As Nails. Your main problem right now is that your armor isn't high enough, IMHO. Armor reduces magic damage in D3, so it should be superior to Superstition.

Also, you need to have a better defensive skill than Ground Stomp, since stuns are so ineffective against Champs, Elites, and Bosses in Inferno. Try Leap with Iron Impact - it multiplies your armor by 4x (!!!) for 4 seconds, and the cooldown is only 10 secs, so it helps survivability by a ton. Use it every fight and use it on cooldown.

One more thing - get a better weapon, man. 3k DPS is pretty harsh, and I'm not sure you'll be able to duo without everyone doing damage (group play buffs enemy HP). I'm not suggesting you go ultra-DPS-mega-glass-cannon spec, but a 6k+ should help a lot, if you can get it without sacrificing much defense. To put it simply - you do less damage than a companion, but enemies have more hit points for group play, so that might be part of your problem.

    Hope this helps!

    ( Just a heads up: I didn't read the lasts posts )

I'm here just to let you guys know I was able to run Act II and killed Maghda! :D

I spent like 1.200.000g in AH and sold some pieces of my DPS gear to buy the new pieces ahahhaahah...

I still don't have the best gear so it was a really dangerous run. Actually, against the "normal" mobs, I didn't die (only against some Whasps/huge group combo). Of course, I ran away from the elites, like JAILER ARCANE ENCHANTED FIRE CHAINS CONFLAGRATE (i always forgot the name of this affix).

Maghda itself was fun and not hard at all - oh yeah, the last group is really dangerous but I could kill her 1-shot.

    My new stats:
    http://img96.imagesh...bgear13june.jpg
( My dps with full rage was 10k or 12k, not sure... )
    *** Self-buffed + Enchantress buff but w/o the Berserk Rage bonus ***

    My new build:
    http://us.battle.net...kSVP!bVc!YacccZ
( I dislike Furious Charge, only worked nice to run free from the Jail ehehhehe )

and the "proof" (not that killing her is a big accomplishment but...)
    http://img215.images...enshot009jx.jpg

PS: I was using the Enchantress as Follower but she wasn't doing much dps - she still wearing Nightmarish gear.... ahahahhah
    PS2: I played Solo.
