Seems to be a very common Topic here, I've been having a hard time in act 2.
I've read many posts and watch many videos regarding act 2 and the required stats. Seems most videos of people claiming to do it with "basic/entry level stats/gear" are doing it with items such as Stormshied, SoE, HoC etc.... Doesn't seem very entry level to me.
Would appreciate it if you could take a look at my stats and maybe tell me where I am going wrong?
Keep in mind this is unbuffed.
I realize people might say that I need more block%, but is that possible with out 10 Million + gold?
I've been doing lots of runs (clearing festering woods -> warden -> butcher) will no problems at all! But In Act 2 I am getting clowned by the very first mobs in the act!
The gold income from doing act 1 runs in my experience are not very good, seems you rarely find any items worth selling on the AH for decent profits, considering most items I seem to need are priced in the millions of gold.
Build is the standard leap(armor) frenzy(sidearm) Warcry(resists) Charge(heal) WOTB(insane) Revenge(30%proc)
I do understand this topic has been raised many times, I am just at a loss!
Not a barb, monk here. I just killed Magda last earlier this week. Find a good DH buddy to carry you kill everything for you. Working for me so far. xD

Stack some life on hit, and your dps is bad... I'm a monk, got 400 res, 5k armor and about 800 life per hit with 1.8 atk speed. With my aoe spirit generator i heal like 5k per hit at 1.7 per sec... works great

Thanks for the suggestion. So more DPS is good, what about the fact that I can't take many hits from anything..will getting life on hit balance this out? And how much life on hit is enough?
your defensive stats are a little low. try to aim for about 8-9k armor and 900 resist all. (with warcry impunity buff of course). ive been farming butcher 5 NV on my barb and i have just started the move into A2. I have to admit it's really hard. My stats buffed are around 900-950 resist all 8.5k armor and ~8-9k DPS. I managed to get 4 NV in A2 but i had to skip any "shielding" packs i encountered. My main source of damage comes from WotB insanity and earthquake path of fire.
All this just to let you know my stats are better than yours and I'm still having a really hard time. Just keep farming A1 butcher and look for those upgrades to your resist all. dont be afraid to drop strength for resist all / vitality / armor. If you can get life on hit with fast attack speed all the better.
Resists look decent but more is better, armor seems pretty low should be somewhere between 8-9k at least. Do you use both armor talents and the enchantress? Using both armor talents+inspiring presence myself, some nice extra heals when you need to kite a bit.
I was in the same defensive stat as you when I first hit act 2 inferno, then I retired from my barb for a while until I found few upgrades for him. I realized how important and effective all resist is. When I had about 600 all resist, I used to get 1-2 shot by random act 2 monsters.
So far, with warcry and enchantress I have 9k armor, 35k hp, 800-900 all resist. And I realized its very hard for act 2 mobs to take me down. One thing I lack is dps and life sustain other than revenge procs, so weapon with life on hit/steal is my next upgrade goal... (hard time taking belial down in time..)
and I use warcry with impunity, revenge, wotb, ignore pain with ignorance is bliss (earthquake for act boss), frenzy with sidearm, and leap with iron impact.
Was already using one armor passive, just changed to use both.
So looks like I need to try to boost up my resists a bit more, maybe go for a better DPS weapon and get some life on hit (500+?). I would imagine life on hit needs to be at a certain minimum for it to even be noticeable?
Your gear is ok to start Act 2, but still pretty low overall. Don't get discouraged by frequent deaths. I would kick ass for awhile in Act 1, make some money, feel like a champion, then make some runs at Act 2 and deal with the rejection for a short time. Eventually, you will upgrade your gear and be comfortable staying in Act 2 for longer periods of time.
Also, make "death runs" to scout out the map and any elite packs. The biggest waste is to clear an entire area, just to find out it is a dead end. Many of the Act 2 quests are just "reach a waypoint" or "grab an item" (Zoltan Kuule).

Right now almost all my gear has +all resist (except for 1 ring, gloves, neck, shield). So assuming i need to have around 900 ~ resists (with warcry) that means I would need around 600 unbuffed resists.
so there are 12 slots for amor, so if all 12 slots had some + resist all I would need an avg of +50 per piece.
So i guess my question is this, Is it better to try to use every slot giving room to use smaller + all resist stats or look for peices of gear with higher + all resist stats so I can use less slots?
Right now as mentioned before I am using 8 slots with + resist all with the values ranging from about +40 to +75.
The good pieces of amor on the AH that would actually be an upgrade for me seem to go for around 150k on the low end to around 250 - 350 k for the better stuff.
I see a lot of people posting things like "i never use the AH" or "i buy all these amazing pieces for less than 100k". Are these people just very lucky, exaggerating or I am just very unlucky with the AH?
Something to add: You can also have intel gear to up resist all, though I think it's 1 pt for 0.1 resist all......50 per piece is rather hard. Plus, at times you can find an item with 2 resists: Resist all and a type of elemental resist. So you gain more per piece, that;s why ppl probably are 30-40 resist all with another 30 elemental resist.
Your armor is high enough now that you changed passives... resists still a little on the lower end but just keep gearing when you can. And yeah try to get a justice lantern/HoC for more block. Also IMO take ignore pain (with 20% lifesteal) and swap out leap. I know some people say swap out charge but imo that heal is too good to pass up.
