I'm having trouble with some blue- Frozen + Firechains Writing Deceivers in Act 2, while In the ruins...
I've died 5 times to them now (solo), switching up everything to even pure defensive... and nothing happens,
I have 55% damage reduction through armor and 900 damage if that helps, decked out in Strength + Vitality rares I've spent all my gold on the AH with...
Edit: Time to switch it up to a shield? I'm DW right now
I don't see how anybody has 2k damage at 42. It's not impossible or anything it would just be a large sacrifice of vitality and being squishy - it's a doable play style I'm not saying it's dumb - I just don't think its common to have 2k damage at 42. Certainly more common later when people level new ones for hardcore or haven't played the barb. Cause you can sink a lot of gear into better items and will have higher level blacksmith recipes.
Anyways, yeah I've had "some" trouble in Nightmare - but I like it. The difficulty really feels right. Can't wait for Hell and Inferno.

There certainly isn't any shame in using a shield on a barb in D3. In other games, you literally lose 50% of your dps by equiping one, here ...it is MUCH less. There are always rare shields with amazing stats on the AH for cheap because so many classes don't use them.

There seems to be such a huge discrepancy in these numbers...
I've seen mentions of people with 900/1k when defeating normal... Claiming they had a ton of hp too 5-7k...
My barb is at 4k hp, about 300 (buffed) damage, and I found normal easy...
My point isn't that normal is easy, but if others have more hp, and 3x the damage, it seems very odd...

Yes I finished normal around 400 damage and I agree too it was easy!
How is it possible to have 2k, I just can't fathom doubling my Damage through gear
