Hi All,
Been reading this site for what feels like forever and thought I would try to contribute something.
Normal was I believe for this class, for the average player, easy.... with the only caviet being someone who had really bad drops and did not use the AH. On nightmare champion health/affixes changes things a good bit. Who loves shielded frozen mobs! To that end i must say the affixes are much much more interesting in nightmare.
Whirlwind with lots of fury generators is ok, but no where near as efficient as cleave with rupture at aoe. I am killing much faster with this build than I was with whirlwind when i tried it at this level. Also there is just something cool about bash with reverb when you have high attack speed, high health mobs crumble in seconds. Wouldn't be surprised to see whirlwind get a touchup. The game honestly becomes so much more enjoyable in nightmare atleast thats what i think.
-edit Forgot to mention these are both with sword and board
Good thoughts. I'm very disappointed in Whirlwind - I think it's one of those "hold down" abilities but I'm a little lazy and am enjoying rend and seismic slam a little more.
Through normal I have felt that the cleave + rupture combo was a little OP - and as you said you are still using it nightmare kind of reassures my thoughts. There is no better ability for AoE packs.
Well so far in Nightmare i'm using stomp with frenzy and WW (life leach rune - important) and i feel like a freaking op monkey around here, altho i'm not sure if it's not my lvl (37 act I), but still killing stuff around is so ez with WW with lifeleech, since it's great mob escape and healing ability, Altho it feels bad lacking ranged ability at this point, using berserk as well to kill elites fast (not sure if it's optimal choice, but its purely fun reason).
I noticed that players up to level 36 are eligible to join public games for the last quest in Normal, so if you're 37 in Act I of NM then you're probably a little ahead of the curve, as most people seem to be finishing Normal around level 30 or 31 and then going directly to NM. Personally, I'll be going your route and getting up to 35 or 36 before I move on.

i would choose my own religion and worship my own spirit, but if he ever preached to me i wouldn't want to hear it. i'd drop him, a forgotten god, languishing in shame; and then if i hit stormy seas, i'd have myself to blame.
I like the second build quite a bit for your level. I'd probably value Weapon Master slightly over Ruthless with a sword or spear, though I'd probably drop Tough as Nails for it unless you are spending a lot of time on the brink of death.

...and if you disagree with me, you're probably <insert random ad hominem attack here>.

I was using this build http://us.battle.net...XViY!bZV!ZZaaaZ and its nice and what not but I was having some issues with the higher health mobs, and so I changed to something a little more unusual max fury build and I am loving it http://us.battle.net...XViY!VZc!aZaaaZ!
Other thoughts through nightmare-
