I am currently sitting at 33.33% CDR (gloves, shoulder, gem, paragon). I could roll 8% more on a ring (weapon is an ancient Heartslaughter). But is it really worth it in terms of resetting FC regulary?
Actually 33.33% is enough and you get it from paragon, gloves, shoulders and gem on the helm. No cdr on amulet / rings unless you want to change your build up a bit but that comes at a cost of dps.
So is it worth it to drop DMG stats on either amulet or rings to get more CDR if I am already at 33%? I could by the way wear SoJ and rorg, but that would loose me either CHC or CHD on a ring slot again. And my SoJ has STR/socket, no DPS stat.
I'm really no barb expert, but... I've heard there are breakpoints for Furious Charge. I've always heard that 33.3% is one, but it also depends on some other factors; MannerCookie said on stream yesterday that his breakpoint was 37.5% but that was different because he wasn't wearing full Raekor, IIRC. He also said there are some guides that explain those breakpoints... I didn't have the time to find them but if anyone has a link that would be awesome, because CDR becomes expensive at some point and knowledge is always better than guessing (my "guess" would be 33.3% and that's what I'm running right now, but I really only started my solo barb attempts yesterday) ;-)
37.5% cdr is what you need to be able to insta refresh when hitting 3 targets. Ofc if you can get to 40% it will feel a lot more fluid but still at 37.5% you will see your charge refresh just fine.
Would be great if someone could shed some light on this! I am at a point right now where I had to sacrifice either crit or critdmg for more CDR and I really want to know if it's worth it
33.33% repeating, of course. 3 mobs, your run of the mill rare pack, instant refresh on 3 targets. Paragon 10%, shoulders 8%, gloves 8% and 12.5% in helm. All you need.
Okay, found it. No idea where the 33.3% came up; I could only find it in several spread sheets and calculations regarding "opportunity costs". Going over 33.3% CDR just is "expensive" as you have to sacrifice DPS stats. There's also no fixed breakpoint, as IAS comes into play when talking about FC (something I did absolutely not know so far). The breakpoint to ensure charge vs 3 mobs is somewhere between 35% and 40%, depending on how much IAS you have and how good your latency is.
Bagstone, all the top Barbarians don't run CDR on anything but gloves, shoulders, helm and Paragon.
From my experience, with the Furious Charge animation and 33.33% CDR I never have downtime on Furious Charge on 3 mobs. I can literally spam the hell out of it if I find a blue/champion pack. I'm sure you could run more CDR for the actual breakpoints, but you will be giving up a lot of damage for miniscule gains.
It's personal preference really after you know the breakpoints. Find what you're comfortable with and play with that.
To answer the OP: Is it really worth it? No, no it's not. You're better off sticking with 33.33%.
So, TL;DR: We need ~37% and not the 33.3% that seem to go round as rumor. I can only assume the 33.3% are enough when using Gogok gem.
It's not a rumor, in game i can reset on 3 mobs with exactly 33.33% as i said, with shoulders, gloves, gem and paragon. Not using gogok.
We used to need ~38% before they changed FC to charges in 2.1 afaik.
Damn. I guess the only way is to ask the creators of these guides and/or the knowledgeable barbs (CC, Shadow, page, and of course Nubtro). They would know for sure. Didn't look at all the dates of all those threads I read, but they were referring to changes in 2.1 - do you mean 2.1.2 or 2.1 Jamoose? Because those guides are definitely talking about 2.1, and most of them updated to 2.1.2.
I kind of remember to be able to reset with 33.3% as well, but I'd really like to know for sure. I guess it's time to test next week when I got time... never trust the Internet
Tested it again. With 33.33% cdr you reset on 3 mobs with about 100-300 milliseconds missing. For some reason sometimes it resets fully and sometimes there's a bit missing. Either way, those missing milliseconds don't build up due to the animation speed anyway so i am able to constantly charge on 3 mobs without any delay in between charges.
Those guides that say 37.5% or whatever are outdated afaik including the one posted above me.
Edit: I realized that i only get those 100-300 ms when i'm not using a weapon at all. When using a Maximus (2h sword) i reset 100% on 3 mobs. So i'm assuming it has something to do with attack speed. Will probably test further with different weapon types later unless someone posts a link to an up to date guide that also relates to weapon speed.

40% should be good enough.

Shoulder 8
Gloves 8
Helm 12.5
Paragon 10
is fine setup. You dont sacrifice other slot. Maybe 1 slot more on wep.

This is what I have been checking about the cdr breakpoints and I saw the 37.5% cdr

Yeah i meant 2.1.2, that's when they changed FC.
