So I have been a fan of Diablo since i was a kid. Though I only watched my dad (age 8) play the D1 for hours straight, I still love the series. As a way of getting pumped up for the upcoming D3 me and my girlfriend decided to get D2 and I was wondering what first build I should go for. I keep hearing how important it is to plan out how your endgame so I looked up some builds and found something that sounds fun, challenging, and strategic.
The Dragoon (or leaping barb) is what im thinking about and i was just wondering what you guys thought of the build and if it sucks or not. I think Ill stick with barbarian so suggesting builds on other heroes would not be so helpful :). With the exception of the amazon. That's what my girlfriend was shooting for. She has no idea what build to go for so any help would be nice. please and thanks
I've never played a dragoon, but have looked at the build a few times. The reason I decide against it every time is that it can only attack one target at a time. Most of the time in D2 you're facing hordes of enemies at once. Leap attack also doesn't have a magic damage component the way berserk does, or concentrate & frenzy can have if you synergize berserk with them. Whirlwind is probably the easiest barbarian to start off with since you just click & clear a path. I think frenzy does more damage, but seems more gear dependent.
For your girlfriend, definitely check out the Witchyzon. Granted it all revolves around getting one particular bow, but I was able to get a perfect 170% Wildwitch String for just a few pgems (and you'll accumulate those a lot faster than you'd think). The bow does good damage, really helps with the resist problems 'zons tend to have, and the amplify damage procs make enemies drop like a rock (especially when there's a barb beating on them too ). Stick two shael runes in the bow & you'll be critting & proccing amplify damage all the time.
To be honest about 50 percent of that was complete gibberish but I appreciate the effort! ahaha Ill figure it out eventually. My second choice was furry so I probably go with that. Thanks!
for first time players i just recommend going with whatever you want, dont read guides and plan because it takes some fun away. my first barb had like 8 in sword mastery, 7 in mace, like 17 in ww and 9 in frenzy...it was weak, but i had one hell of a good time.
as long as you dont pick a gear intensive char, like a vt, youll be fine! just have some fun.

Yeah, sorry. lol Looking back I can see how it would sound like gibberish if you're not already familiar with the game.
I plan to use this fury plan for my barb, but you can find any number of guides out there for them.
