I will now post an addendum to my previous post in order to relate it to Diablo 3.
I would like to see pure magic damage return. It seems to have returned in the form of arcane, but I'm not really digging the purple. I would like it to be ethereal/white instead.
Why would I like to see it return? Because you focus magic into damage. It's not an element, but pure, unadulterated magic.
Once again, honourable mentions go to both cold and lightning. Cold has tactical advantages, while lightning looks cool.
It's called COLD in Diablo II, not frost, not ice, not water, not freezing, not nippy, not wintery, etc.!
Nowhere in the op did Venom specify what game our favorite damage type had to be from. It did not have to be in D2. So chill out hammy cuz I love frost damage. The thread is under D2 but the post says nothing about D2.

I will neither confirm nor deny that I directed that at you. Shazam!
I like the idea of arcane magick, but I think I'm going to like it the most in Diablo III from how things are turning out. Other than that, it's lightning.
Honestly...I don't think arcane magic has ever been given justice in the gaming world so thats the only reason I don't pick it. Arcane magic is usually the lamer weaker magic with only conventional spells (The guy that came up with the idea for what telekinesis would do in D2 should be hung).
When I think of Arcane, honestly for some reason I think of a magic that is way stronger than any other magic because of it's sheer purity. It IS magic in it's entirety. In fact. I just had an idea. Arcane always reminds me of very strong mages and wizards that have incredible powers that just own face. I mean, shouldn't it? It's arcane magik! It should have a tree only unlockable once reached a certain level or intellect level. They could easily make it viable but yet not make the other trees useless. Ok, maybe it's not the best idea ever. But anyway I digress, back to what I was going to say earlier. From what I have seen, Arcane is going to be an awesome tree in D3. Slow time is just sex. I really hope for once they do Arcane justice.
And if we can get super specific on our damage preference, I think I might change mine. My favorite type of damage in gameplay and in lore is probably voodoo and black magic/ dark magic or w.e. That's the goood stuff. Putting hex's and curses on people along with all that other stuff is just awesome.

Magic damage. It's so mysterious, and so brutal, that it kicks ass. Cold damage? I don't want to fucking slow down my enemies, I want them to come towards me so I can kick the living hell out of'em.
Well magic is usually considered ranged damaged so I think your heart is torn Meph.

Once the patch is finalized, I'm going to make a pure bone caster necromancer I will have 8 points left when the build is finished. Thinking of using the points in a combination of Clay Golem and Golem Mastery.

Try and get the curse that lowers resistance if you don't have that on your list.

Are you sure? I always thought it did. Is there anything that lowers magic resist? Never mind, it has not worked like that since 1.09.

As far as I remember there are not too many monsters that are immune to magic.
The Act 2 Hireling should be able to take of the monsters that are immune to magic. If corpses are around then Corpse Explosion will help with the killing.

On Strike and supporting Fallout 4 Mod Makers
Some fallout 4 mod makers have had their mods stolen and uploaded and downloaded on Bethesda's site for the Xbox One.
Lower Resist only lowers elemental resistance. Use Amplify Damage or Decrepify as the curse of choice. It won't add to your damage, but your Merc will probably know what to do. Also, it helps with corpse explosion.
Looks badass, does heaps of damage, and has a massive range of damage that appeals to my gambling addiction.
