I plan on making a full summon Necromancer. First, I will be explaining what I plan to do and why. I would like to try and (as the name implies) get a large army of skeletons, both warrior and mage, with the clay golem as my Lieutenant and my Mercenary as my Second in Command. I would be using no P&B Spells at all. I plan on using a Crossbow as a weapon.
Stats:
Strength: Enough for gear and I will not be depending on +strength attributes.
Dexterity: +3*
Vitality: +2*
Energy: Base (I did the math and found that I can summon a level 20 golem which requires 72 mana at level 25 when I get 73 mana.)
*Will be put in every two levels as I will be needing to put points into strength also.
Example of this is:
Level 2: +5 in strength
Level 3: +3 Dexterity; +2 Vitality
Level 4: +5 in strength
Level 5: +3 Dexterity; +2 Vitality
Level 6: +5 in strength
Level 7: +3 Dexterity; +2 Vitality
Skills:
20 Summon Skeleton
20 Skeleton Mastery
20 Clay Golem
18 Golem Mastery
12 Summon Resist
8 Fire Golem
5 Decrepify
2 Blood Golem and Iron Golem
3 Prerequisites
An army of 11 (myself included) might be formidable.
I plan on using an Act 2 Mercenary, probably Might with Pride runeword. (Was recommended.)
Any equipment suggestions would be greatly appreciated, please remember I plan on using a Crossbow and if it has poison on it, I will be very happy. I don't like Enigma either. Also, I would like to know what you all think?

I think teleport adds a lot to gameplay as it helps you move your army around and concentrate damage where you wish. It would be cool to have at least teleport charges on a secondary weapon or something.
As for mages, I've never really liked them. But since they are on the way to get revives, i usually have more than a couple of them with me. They die too quick.
Clay golem is just sweet..
No curses is just confusing to me.
And just a general advice for anybody saying the necro can run hell naked-
GLOAMS!

Well it's innovative I'll give you that. But I have my doubts, especially if it is to be done solo.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
I tried a summoner similar to that. I ran into lag problems though. My minions would stop moving for a couple seconds and then when they started moving again I was dead.
I used a couple curses though. Mainly Amp damage and decrepify.
An army of 19 (myself included) will be formidable.
I have a feeling that your army whatever gear and weapon your necro is carrying won't be so formidable without curses.
On hell, you'll most likely find yourself constantly using the 'raise skeleton' skill.
I don't know the exact goal you are seeking in making such a build, but I think it will a serious challenge.....especially with mages...
However I am only a necro fan and not a necro expert, so....i might be all wrong...
hmmmm...yeah. i had a summon/bone build when i was first playing. this was my first character and I didnt know anything about builds.
curses do help a hell of alot. but if you want to go all summon, might I suggest maybe trying to find some equipment that would possibly have curse charges or spells with them. that way you dont lose your skill points.
Amplify Damage and Life Leach really just make your summons invincible, especially once you get resists for them. I just put one point in each and the rest in summons. Pwns everything, even works with Ubers if you have the right combination of Resurrections.
if you want to be a bow summoner, use faith bow for fanatacism. (why does it have to be a crossbow??)
use an act 2 might (nm offensive) merc with a pride weapon for concentrate
and you're really shooting yourself in the foot not to use amp or decrep

serving only to ensure absolute vulnerability to the pain of their inevitable absence.
I used this build when I first started playing D2. I loved having my army and just standing back and watching. I only hate this build when it comes to bosses. They drop too quick and you have to go somewhere else just to regrow your army.

Or use Life Tap, Normal Bosses at least.
This is the great flaw of your build Venom. You are sacrificing huge amounts of versatility through curses just for putting extra points into golem and golem mastery, which do nothing compared to the added benefit of curses. There is a reason that skelliemancers do invest their points as they normally do.
Now all builds are not supposed to be cookie-cutter, and not all builds are supposed to be the very best. But if you decide to focus on certain skills, in this case summoning, it would still be worthwhile to make the most of them, and not shoot yourself in the foot.

Get yourself Confuse and Attract, they're possible the most under utilized curses out there, but they're ridiculously helpful. You can turn an entire horde of monsters on each other, and while they're fighting, your skellies can mop them up.

I understand that it would be close to impossible but the fun (for me) isn't completing the game, it is playing it. Sure I couldn't be it on Hell but I sure had a ton-o-fun playing it until I got stuck. Then I went on to another fun build. I think all of us have beaten the game numerous times. I think trying something fun makes the game continue to be fun.

No Curses!! I say forget the curses. So what if the build isn't completely viable in Hell. It will still be tons of fun commanding that army.
I think Venom actually wants to complete the game with that build.
I know we all have our own ways of having fun but I think we might have to look beyond normal and nightmare.

Well, I will be putting my Build in the Wiki if it works.
I agree. For me, there is nothing I love more than starting a character. With each level gaiaing one more minion to your army. And then you finally get the mages. It is this initial build up that I love.

Well, enjoy playing. I wouldn't

Edit: I am researching for a Crossbow I would use.
Edit 2: I have updated the OP. Thoughts?

Decrepify + lvl 20 Clay Golem = SUPER SLOW BOSSES
