Just curious how many of you ppl have managed to beat diablo 2 on all difficulties on single player. I've done it twice with two necros but other than that class its pretty hard to do it. Sorc is out of question obviously. Barb possibly with berzerk. Hammerdin... again possible but i've tried it and its hard since you need a lot of good equipment to really get that damage goin. Not to mention the merc kept dying... Although i picked up a hoz on my necro doing andy run (i had 57 mf how the hell i got it i dont know but ive had a lot of luck on single with mfing) Trap sin... i've heard its possible if u build it correct with a hybrid fire/light build but id be hard on single. Druid Hurricane ideal but since u can do physical and elemental but im lazy so i havent really tried it.
But yeah necro is the best one in my opinion since he basically have a wall blocking you from getting attacked. Also as i've said before i have had a lot of luck with drops my necro has. Homunculus, Trangs chest, Trangs gloves, Shako, King Leoric, rare necro ammy +1 skill, and an ali baba for mfing but i didnt have that when i got the hoz. I do have a cold sorc but thats just for doing hell andy since their r no cold immunes in catacombs lvl 4 unless their unique.
So what have you guys done any single or just ladder really.
I've tried beating it SP with a necro but it didn't work out for me. I got to level 4 on hell, and the monster's just had too much hp's for me to do any damage.
Back when the game first came out, I played on my Barbarian named... Diablo1 I still have him, heh, got him to NM A2, he's level 31. But, then I got involved with Battle.net and have played on the Closed realms for years now.

Was this before or after 1.10 were they introduced synergies
hmmm, it was last year in October i believe. I don't even know what synergies are.
Before 1.10 skeletons didnt do any damage at all it was all a blood golem iron maiden combo. If u look at the skill tree's you'll see that certain skills give bonuses to others. Like with the necro's clay golem you get extra damage if you put points into fire golem, def if points are in iron golem and life if extra points are in blood golem. Its a dependent on percentages

ahhhhhh ic. I was definitely doing the fire golum / iron maiden combo. I don't remember seeing any synergies.
I do remember when skeletons did zero damage. I've never used them since. Thanks for the info! I may have to try again now, i love necro's.
My first character to complete hell in SP was the sorc (2x), than paladin, necro, barb, amazon, druid (2x) and assassin.^_^
The only thing I could never do was kill patch 1.11 special bosses and Uber Diablo and God knows I tried. I dont even think it's possible. Has anyone done it in SP?
The only character i know that has done it is a friend of mine and he was using a necro and it had the perfect gear except for hellfire torch and annilus
Has anyone done it with some more uncommon builds? I assume many of you, after excessive gaming over the years, have been trying out more creative builds to see how far it got you?
I've never tried to do a serious melee sorc or poisondagger necro though I have a feeling they're really fun.
Hmm i've i made a poison dagger necro but it didnt last very long i cant even remember it very well
Probably because Poisondagger is just as good as, say, arctic blast. Not so good.
Though I my friend did show me a great meleesorc weilding delirium and the runeword that gives zeal. Aparently everything legitly found (persistently cubing runes will give you an Ist in time lol).
Ya and on the subject of runes the highest ive ever found on single is a lem and that was from hell forge. But lol thats funny using delirium as the wep and having zeal.
hmm, to be honest a melee sorc never crossed my mind and never will. Is is even a viable build?
I tried poison necro and it failed miserably in hell.
My paladin was based around Fist of the Heavens build and I finised hell without major stoppages.
I tried a Werebear build which also failed somewhere along the way. More because it was just not so interesting and I really doubt it would be a viable build in hell.
And with this new patch i hope they do something with the summoning tree for the druid cause it sucks
I finished the single player including Hell difficulty with a kicksin. I was level 79 when i killed baal.
I went really far with a frost zealot once... like act 4 hell or something.
I had a barb that got to act 2 hell and i couldnt pass Halls of the dead in act 2 in Hell... it was just too hard lol xD
I played with all of the classes in single player, with most of them i reached like end of Nightmare or something. but i only finished it with the kicksin.
There is one easy way to fix that btw. When doing a quest like the reward Anya gives you, or Hellforge, do them in a seperate game.
Create a new SP game so everything you've done so far is saved and all you have to do is talk to Anya or go to the hellforge and smash the stone.
Go do the quests, if the reward is shit (which is almost allways the cause - I've probably once goten a usable item from Anya) do a backup of your characterfile (d2s) before saving and exiting game. Just rewrite the file over the newly saved so it resets to the old one, and you get another chance of geting a good reward.
Some might consider this an exploit and cheating. It is an exploit, yes, however it is just considering all the trouble one has to go through in hell only to get a reward equivalent of a Countess drop in normal.
And this works for everything, crafting in the cube, imbuing uncommon white items, questrewards and so on. Gives you unlimited chances to get 'that' item.
I've heard of backing up your file and doing that but im to lazy to ever try it (technically i've done that but i had to make a backup and full restore my comp damn viruses)
Well I beat it with just one character in single player and that was just a plain old hammerdin. I was just curious how they were after hearing about them and it really did turn out to be overpowered. Playing LAN my fiancee and I beat hell mode with a shock/zeal paladin(me) and a frozen orb/firewall sorc(her).
I generally just played normal/nightmare and made a new character once immunes were introduced.
i've done with the javazon, on mormal and nightmare is just a joke, the problem is hell dif, when my Valkyrie had to really handle things for me most of the time! and other than that, anything that could be killed with lighning (not lighning imune) just died very fast, when it was lightning imune, i had to use those poison javs, simply hated that! and also use pure physical damage! and thats all! took a lot of time on hell dif, thats for sure!

How'd you do it with a zealdin? Elemental damage wep?

May not be as fun but it sure is a lot harder not being in a party. Most of the time when i do ladder i play by myself anyway till i hit baal.
