If you want to arrange it
This world you can change it
If we could somehow make this
Christmas thing last
By helping a neighbor
Or even a stranger
And to know who needs help
You need only just ask
I think what I'd really like to see in the new patch is for the merchants to have their stuff upgraded in Nightmare and Hell so they're not dealing the same old items they did in Normal level. I know it hardly matters for multiplayer but in single player when you can't trade or anything, it would be really helpful I think. And since I don't really go on multiplayer anymore, it would really help me out.
I'm not going to lie, some fleshing out of Act 4 would be nice too. Added quests or areas, or whatever. Just something to make that act bigger.
i would like to see ladder-only runewords be available for non ladder. its very frustrating that when im trying to complete a build that uses last wish, faith, or anything good.
Actual content would be a major boost to the game. Yes items and changes to spells and blah blah is good, but if you were to add the other three quests to A4, add some hidden quests, etc, then that may bring back many who have left D2, or left LoD for ES.
- Make runes combinable up to the max level (Zod), using runes only.
it would be to easy to get high runes
- Give Mercenaries Gloves and Boots, and make it visible on him/her
is this really necessary?
- Give Mercenaries a 4x2 Charm Slot
eh, not necessary either.
- Balancing characters
explain this a little more. how would the characters be balanced?
- Force people to do Rite Of Passage before progressing to the next act. (hate myself for saying this)
i agree with this completely. make us actually play the game
- Detect duped items when someone is trying to trade and delete them, including duped runewords
no comment
- Make the /squelch command work on all spambots
ugh. finally.
- Get rid of the teleport on the Enigma
NO. thats a stupid idea. what about summoning necros?
- Give teleport a forced wait so it isn't a quick move ability anymore
thats a better idea
- Find a way to detect and ban bots
eh, that might be difficult
- If possible, get rid of maphack
again, difficult
- Try to make useless skills useful
please! i hate using 2 skills out of the 30 you give me, but allow people to reset skill points if this happens
- Make Energy worth spending points in
another excellent idea! but again, reset stat points if this happens
- More runewords, uniques, sets, secrets, blablabla
wont hurt!
- Make it possible to go hostile when both players are in town only
i like this idea very much
- Make Waypoint usage turn off hostility
i like this too.
- Make gold not drop when killed by a player
i like this too.
- Make the cowlevel openable 5 times only
eh, i dont hate it, but i dont like it.
- Make runes purchasable, but not high level runes
NO. if runes can be combined to make higher runes (without gems), then this would make hrs SOO easy to get
- Add runes to the gamble feature, and make it scale with the difficulty
NO. same as last comment
- Bigger Stash but not Inventory
yes. i like this....
- Remove the Magic Find effect
eh, i would say no.
- Prevent a character from recieving an item that is dropped/traded by another of his/her character for one day
what? i dont get this
- Prevent players from picking up items that are over 20 levels higher than their level and dropped in a higher difficulty
i dont like this.
- Extend the charms with a 2x2 cube charm
is this necessary? i have enough charms as it is
- Make items turnable if possible without messing up balance, otherwise only charms
hmm. good idea, but unnecessary
- Remove the thing that can drop your items upon death
...this only happens with potions, doesnt it? im not sure
- Make the potions that where in your belt when you died, go back into it when you pick up your body
now this is a good idea! no more having to spend time tediously putting potions in your belt
- Make any unused slots in your belt be filled with unused potions when you pick up your body with enemies in sight
what? this doesnt make sense...
- Make the damage bonus from Strength rise with every 5 points so it becomes useful as a base damage boost
eh, it would take a while to balance. but it would be nice if this did happen
- Make the Blessed Hammer spell toss out the hammer at the direction you are facing, so it becomes useful from all angles
im not a big hammerdin fan. no comment
- Make Mercenaries from all acts and difficulties useful in some way, even if it means a complete makeover
yeah. this would be nice.
- Give mercenaries a tiny skill tree to make their actions more customizable
in a way, you do this when you buy the merc. for example, you can choose which aura your act 2 merc has.
- Mercenaries should not die when the character dies in Normal
i dont think this is necessary.
- Give the Mercenaries some damn better AI... They are idiots...
or give your player a small "mercenary bar" when you can select what you want them to attack
give purchasable alcohol to all the gambler traders and add in character balance loss and a blurry screen effect

Even if one takes every reefer madness allegation of the prohibitionists at face value, marijuana prohibition has done far more harm to far more people than marijuana ever could
I'm worried that blizzard will not take this patch as seriously as we are. As I read this thread, everybody seems to have extremely high expectations for the content. It is very likely that this patch is over-hyped.
1) Respecs - Unlimited just need Gold, scales with level. I know there are many that hate this idea, but I haven't played much with synergies, and even people still new to D2... screwing up just a couple talents and you can be considerably weaker if not broken. This needs to be fixed. Let people try out non-cookie cutter builds without being punished and reroll.
2) Nerf Runewords, buff RARES. I saw this mentioned above, and I do miss this about classic D2. Rares were the best, especially weapons/rings. Runewords are super over powered and lack diversity. I want Rares/Crafted items to be able to be top items, Runewords and Uniques strong but not BiS.
3) Remove Immunities. This was the worst change in the game's history for me. I need not explain. Also helps expand viable builds.
4) Level Cap on Acts. I.E. Can't advance to Act 2 before level 16, Act 3 before XX, Act 4 before XX... so on. You can complete the quests but traveling won't be available yet. Another tweak would be to go as far as needing all the quests done to advance as well.
5) Stackable Gems / Runes. Quality of life change.
6) Give Strength / Dexterity / Energy some worth. Beside just "gear minimums", "max block", "don't put any points into". Strength could add some health, not as much point per point as Vitality, in addition to add some to physical mitigation. Energy could increase health/mana regen rate as well as add more mana. Etc...
7) Don't exclude Single Player with changes or items... Until Bots/Hacks/Dupes can be controlled, Bnet enjoyment has been severaly gimped.
8) HIGHER RESOLUTIONS! Now this something that probably can't be done, but I wish... 800x600... pfft.
9) Stash Changes - Bigger and Account SHARED. Muling is the pits unless you know friends or sneaky enough not to get stuff stolen. Much rather have a mutual bank, even less cumulative space but able to get items from one to another without having to mule. Appplies to single player and Bnet.
10) Active and powerful RUST STORM! Kill all dupes, all the time. At the same time, track / ban bots. Disable maphack. Easier said than done. Dupes and Bots ruin the economy, with maphack being the least of my problems.

thank you for saying this. i agree with the reasons for respecing, but it will be difficult to find a cost that is balanced. i kinda like how in WoW every new respec costs more gold. maybe your first respec would cost 5 perfect gems, your second respec would cost 10pgems, you third respec would cost 20pgems, and your fourth respec would cost 40pgems. after the fourth respec, all respecs would cost 50pgems.
Putting potions back in the belt slots is one I'd like to add to mine too, I'm surprised they haven't already done this yet.
As mentioned by me and many others though, I really want to see runewords toned down a bit, well some alot. I miss the variety in gear D2 classic had being that rares were the elites, and none being exactly the same, there were always new and better ones to see. Synergies were the main D2 turnoff for me, starting the D2 cookie-cutter era (whirlwind pike barbs were popular before I recall but there were many other types too).
Adding new content is agreed by everyone, and a given I think, but rather than finishing out the Act IV quests I'd like to see something that calls for ppl to collaborate together in order to get to it. Simultaneously completing objectives in different acts or something along that line.
As for making gold actually have value, I think its too late for that. Items have become the monetary standard for too long, but who knows, maybe they could come up with a creative use that would catch on.
i think they should make it easier to make the gems better when you put in the cube. in other words...
if you have three chipped Topaz and two Flawed Topaz you can put all five in the Horadric Cube and transmute them into a Topaz.
i think it woud make things quicker for people who (like me) collect the gems and make perfect Gems for future use.

My life is like a dragon, first praised, then hated, now lost.
I'd also like to see rare items make a comeback. Back in the earlier days of the game, they were WAY more important. The most powerful items usually were rares. This made mf way more fun, because rares were much more random than uniques, and were fun to look for.
This is a big one for me. Uniques overtaking rares was one of the reasons I lost interest in online play.

Actually, I think taking immunes out would be a better idea. They aren't fun, they're just a hindrance and reduce the amount of viable builds.
Completely agree. Immunes really ruin some of the single player fun since most builds are useless in hell mode.
Desire would be wanting to see an overhaul to the item system. As mentioned before, the quality of the items mean very little to their power. Runewords are top tier. They are more difficult *cough* to get as it takes finding more than one rare item to craft said item.... but what about sets? They've fallen off the world. Uniques have little to no place unless you're talking about the 1.10+ added items. This strange model isn't consistant to any of the previous patches, or games for that matter.
Also, with the strong possibility of server-side account-based stash, I would also love to see a true B.net Key // account system. This will at least limit the number of bots and spam. (( Botting is based on an account... account gets banned.... voila ))
Now, seeing as how that will never happen, lets move on to something a bit more real.
Because we know shared stash is a strong possibility, and since the game was written in VB, the coding is simple. Between that and a strong possibility of a revamp of the skill system, I'd love to see synergies taken out. This is personal opinion, but when 1.10 came out, and they switched to a synergy system, I had to re-roll a hard-earned character who achieved a lot of game-time because she became ultimately weak. Granted, this is a displacement of hatred to the synergy system from a lack of a respec system, but I digress.
I really hope that class balancing becomes top priority too. There is no reason to see 50k + Paladins, a handful of Sorceresses (( Sorcerii? )), a handful of Amazons, and me left playing a Necromancer because I love the class.
Just my 2cp.

The paladin thorns needs to be in the barbarian skill tree. Barbarian would have more use for it in my opinion.
Just add it to the list of war cries.

I am cheese. I am loved by all. I go great with everything. Other foods hate me because I take all the glory. Like Nachos..Their just jealous cause no one eats them unless Im there. Shit..I even ruined broccili's rep. Broccili kept talkin shit so I was like. " You know what?, I think I might melt myself on some Broccilli. See how those humans enjoy that green [sexual slur censored] now." Shit...Now,People dont even touch him, unless Im all over that shit! Ahhh..Its not easy, being cheesy.. Peace. Cheese Out.
What about if they incorporate into the system, a way to set up your stats and skill points ahead of time and that way you could fix it if needed. As you play, the game will determine where to put the stats depending on gear that you have on, in inventory, and in stash for strength, dexterity for how much your hitting and/or getting hit, vitality for how often it gets below a certain percentage, and mana for how often your using it and downing pots. Skill points will be placed where the skills are being used frequently, and if there is a new skill available thats needed for a main skill or prerequisite. This is a rough draft, some things here can be fixed/updated.
Also, could somebody point me in the right direction to a great vengeance paladin. I never really liked Paladin, but I would like to give him another chance. If I could use a kick ass poison weapon with him, all the better.
