Yeah, I'm pretty sure he does, since he posted the actual announcement of patch 1.13. I don't think you're going to get a response from him of any real value, though, since they'd want to save stuff like that for their official announcement/patch notes. But, good luck with it! If you do happen to, I'm sure it'll be front page here
Bowzons arent as powerful as many paladin builds but there still pretty nuts with good gear....the only balance changes I can see them making is nerfing smite, charge and hammer damage...and that really does not need to be done but its the most likely
This synergy system destroys any possibility at decent versatility within build creation.
I mean, right now, the skill system is screwed up, with all the idiotic synergies and whatnot. You used to be able to make a wolf druid with a maxed whirlwind and be badass, but now, that maxed whirlwind won't do shit. Or a sorc, who has frozen orb, fireball, and lightning maxed, with a fair amount of points in the respective masteries, to make a good build to take on anything, but now...
I just hope that in 1.13 we can see the end of synergies(or, at least, a viable fix). That would allow for a lot of new(and old) character build ideas...
Thats a stupid idea!!! yes the synergies are not balanced well, but without them we would do crap damage with no way of getting better once you max a skill.
First two posters, you trolls....
1: Remember how when they first added they idiotic synergy system, they also boosted the strength of the monsters in the game? They would surely make a change along with the removal of synergies to keep it cool. And surely, with the ladder reset, I don't think ppl will be complaining about their ladder characters being destroyed...
2: Remember all those builds you used to be able to do, but that were trashed with the creation of the synergies? orb-nova sorcs, clawsins, trapsins with both light, and ice, many more versatile buillds...etc...
My point is, this synergy system destroys any possibility at decent versatility within build creation.
Just removing synergies would put them back in the rut that they had with balancing before. The reason they added them was for balacning because it was unbalanced. It obvioulsy didn't help, but just removing it isn't going to help, either.
Furthermore, the game, nor any game, is ever going to be balanced enough. As far as I've seen, any character in Diablo II does amazing against any other character so long as the player isn't an idiot and they have good gear.
The way the game is set up and how it plays is what makes cookie-cutter builds and "uber" characters real. Synergies just mixed things up and made different cookie-cutter builds. Removing them changes nothing. What they would need to implement is an infinite array of stats and skills, that's the only way to achieve "balance". No game is balanced. There's always a best build because computers only have a finite storage and processing capacity for a finite amount of stats, skills, items, etc.
There not going to remove synergies because like magistrate said they were put into the game in the first place to help balance it a bit(it did help a bit). IF they really wanted to make more builds viable they could simply buff and nerf some things. Buffing crap like frost nova or one of theose elemental bow skills could give way to new builds without removing synergies EASILY.....also they need to nerf hammers and smite a tad

I was looking at the D3 skill tree (at the other d3 fansite) and they don't use synergies. You use 5 skills in each tier, and you unlock the next one; then you can put whatever skills you want, wherever you want..It makes me question if I prefer this way, or the skill tree that d2 has.
D2 makes you plan out every skill, it also limits the variety of attacks. In D3, the way they MAKE you put at least 5 skill points in each tier, already gives variety..
To get skills in the 3rd tier, you must waste 5 skills in each previous tier. I wonder if they would adjust the skills this way for the patch, just to give us an idea...

"Not Even Death Can Save You From Me" ~ Diablo (II)
Hm.. That would be a massive patch. It would, though, be good for getting everyone slightly in to the groove of how Diablo III would play before actually launching it. I doubt it would happen, though. The legacy team isn't very big, and the patch with synergies came when we still have Blizzard North working on Diablo II, as far as I know.
Synergies are actually nice for Single Player and Coop play in my opinion...
It lets you use "early" skills and not invest all points into lvl-30 skills only..
The PvP in Diablo 2 was never balanced enough.. This is a game design problem, and also, Diablo 2 was never designed for PvP (consider just how much they've changed it since day 1), it's focus being mostly single player and cooperative play..
This will be a rather large patch regardless. D2 being a balanced game will never happen imo. I will say there are a few things that could be done to help it a long. For one some sort of real loot system would be nice. One with rolls, class- only pick up, bind on pickup. Something, anything is better then the ninja loot 5000 system that exist now. Also making mobs in hell, especially bosses, have a set list of items they drop, no blues or crap. They can still make the drop rates on certain really nice stuff really low to balance it out. Making the countess in each difficulty drop level appropiate runes. So people can have and trade for legit loot rather then duped stuff. This will also give folks the will to go and farm for that Bothd you have always wanted. Instead of buying one online, lawlz.
BLizzard please make taking the time to Solo hell worth it..
they might make a new type of (i don't want to say minigame, but like finding the keys, and opening uber D). That would be great, and would occupy us for A LONG TIME.
But an extra, few missions that lead up to D3, and maybe a cinematic to explain small things would be nice..

"Not Even Death Can Save You From Me" ~ Diablo (II)
The synergies were a good idea, but as Magistrate said, they only served to change up the cookie-cutter builds. What they need to do is add a ton of synergies that cross over skill trees. For example on the sorc, all of the "Bolt" spells (lightning bolt, fire bolt, ice bolt) could give each other synergies. I think that could do a lot to really mix things up and get people to think outside the box when they design their characters.
Some skills did do that in Diablo II- I think some Druid SS skills benefited from Summoning skills. All I'm really asking for is a little mixing up of the current synergies to stimulate new builds for a while, since I think that's all we can really hope for (as far as synergies go).

Ah, you're right, there are a couple that do that. Well, they still need to do more in my opinion

I don't know if Bashiok comes to this part of the forums, but i would love a reply from him or another blizzard rep.

I honestly think that with Diablo III coming around they aren't going to fix much as far as a 10 year old game goes.
It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
