Call me lame.. call me what you will but in my mind Matt Uelmen (Diablos score composser) Is a legend at what he does. Without the atmosphere his music brings the Diablo universe in my oppinion would be no where near the success it has become.
To my point. Once upon a time you could download the entire score from blizzard. "Mp3 of the week" as it was known, and I had the entire collection.
Unfortunately I lost all the mp3's due to system failure and nowdays the only way you can even listen to it is if you stream it from battle.net - fine if you have braodband, impossible if you still have 56k.
DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHERE I CAN GET COPIES OF THE ENTIRE D2 SCORE???
There must still be someplace or someone who either has or knows where I can download them.
Your help means huge guys. cheers.

rom the steamy recesses of the southern swamps comes a figure cloaked in mystery. The Necromancer, as his name implies, is an unseemly form of sorcerer whose spells deal with the raising of the dead and the summoning and control of various creatures for his purposes (diabloii.net)

If it's nerdy then i'm a nerd too. I was also hoping he does the score for diablo3. I hope it makes it more like diablo1 than diablo2's style though. I thought diablo1's overall style with the babies crying and the weird noises was really a better fit than diablo2. I dont know what it is but i love the diablo1 soundtrack ten times over the soundtrack of diablo2.
Very very cool. Has all the "mp3 of the week" post with Matt Uelmen's own words about the songs.
Only problem - the mp3 download links don't really work. But check around (such as that ffshrine link) to find the songs.
ALSO, you CAN extract the music (in 22khz 16-bit stereo WAV format) from d2music.mpq data file, using a tool such as "mpq tool" Or "Mpq extractor" or so on.
The Tristram music is to this day one of the best bits of music to ever bless a video game (or any media for that matter) imo. Thanks Matt, I sure hope that I can look forward to hearing your tunes in D3.

i was REALLY disappointed to hear that matt uelmen wouldn't be working on d3s music; i hope that they continue the same themes and atmospheres that he did; they really did make the game for me
(so far i'm not impressed with the new sound)

they'll never see me coming.. life is a sequence of tragedies, inconsistent only by fleeting, elusive moments of pleasure,
serving only to ensure absolute vulnerability to the pain of their inevitable absence.
Russell Brower is the new composer; there's some more discussion about it here
