We all love D2. But what ultimately made at least me stop playing was the end-game. You got your character to a high level within a day or two and after a while it felt sort of pointless, however brilliant a game it may be.
So have anyone else here tried mods? I really enjoyed it. It felt like I had just picked up the game and started playing it from the beginning.
My personal favorite would have to be ZyEl by Kato, which is insanely hard, which also makes it very rewarding. Other good ones are Eastern Sun and Median. They're both easier than ZyEl, but harder than vanilla.
So what do you think?
(Sorry if we aren't allowed to discuss this. I found no rules against it )

"So I like climb out the window and I fall because we’re on the third floor , but it’s cool, because I land where my arm used to be, but it’s not there so it doesn’t hurt. And I’m thinking, yeah, man, this no arm thing is kinda chill."
Never tried one but thought about doing it; only think it might get boring on single player. I got sick of diablo because its only fun on multiplayer, and all multiplayer is is rushing and runs.
There are closed realms that support mods. You just have to search a little...
Single player is a bunch of fun though, because it's a whole new experience. And if you want to play multi, inviting some friends for TCP/IP is always an option... you just might have to do the same for the closed realms anyway.
Free control of the amount of players is not uncommon either (ZyEl goes right up to 127... but the multipliers gradually go down, so anything above 16 is an overkill really, 8 being ideal), which is one of the reasons you don't really want to play on closed.

Bah. Of course we are, mods are the only reason I played D2 for the last three or four years.
I've been an avid Requiem of Sorrow player, but I stopped after I finished everything with a lvl 110 summon necro with 50 skill points I didn't know where to place
Other than that, I tried Zy'el, but it takes too long for me. It's no fun dying in The Underground Passage because lightning instantly kills you...
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.

Figures. Well you never know, some forums are really strict with these kind of things. Beats me why. Blizzard made their games so easy to mod for a reason (I think)

For me, I am able to still play diablo 2 only to be a barter. I have beaten the game soo many times that I just have a few mf'ers and find good stuff and barter them and see how rich I can get. That is probably the only thing that keeps me going. Dueling on SC is stupid...I only duel on HC.

Actually, it was a mistake. They restructured the files to make patching easier for themselves. Before 1.09, modding was a royal pain, and it was close to impossible before 1.07 iirc.
