I may have missed this option somewhere, but it would be cool to know which post someone gave you a +1 for. I always wonder and I try to check my resent posts to see which one it is but every now and again I can't find it.
We had a more advanced rep system in the past to +rep and -rep with the reason but it was being abused on a large scale to get positive rep, just trading it with eachother each day, then people got mad at others abusing it and started dumping all their -rep on people everyday, it just ended up with a lot of angry people and no real purpose, and that's how we ended up here.
No I got it, its just that then we end up with people trading votes. To be honest I'm not sure if its a feature we have anymore anyways we've changed forum software since then from vBulletin, to IP Board.
But we're not saying it should display who gave you rep, it's about which post received the rep.
Like, clicking on the total rep in your account and then displaying all your messages that got you a +rep. I think that's even going to help people see what kind of posts give them +rep so they can self-improve towards receiving more. :]

Yeah, I don't want or care who gave me the +1, I'd just like to know which posts someone liked enough to give me the rep.
I am not sure if there is some negative consequence that we don't know about for this, since you guys seem to think it would cause more bad than good.
I don't want -1 or to know who gave me the rep, just which post someone gave me rep for, I mean I can find it even without the feature if I really wanted to, but it just takes more time. I hope this will clear any confusion.
We're not talking about -rep, we're responding to the OP, like you want us to.
People would guess on context who gave them the plus rep and rep in turn. It turned into a bloated, unrealistic representation of approval, with everyone just repping other people in order to get repped. It was just like spamming with posts, except with +rep.
We had people posting on a nearly regular basis that the situation was awful and encouraged spamming behavior. Then people would argue about it. Then people hated each other and the negative energy was vented in other ways.
We tried it, studied it, and came to the experienced conclusion that it split the community apart, fueled trolling, and generally wasn't an accurate representation of members.

I think that's a somewhat unfair assessment. True, you could guess who +'ed you if we had a list like this, but people would still only be able to give others +rep. So the only scheme people could come up with would be "I rep you, you rep me". And that can still be achieved right now through a simple PM.
The core problem of the older system was that it showed where you received negative rep. Any person is more or less going to react negatively to being down-repped, and that information was definitely something people used in order to guess who did it to them. But very few are going to be upset for not being repped to begin with.
That being said, unless such a function is available in IPBoard, there not much we could do even if we wanted to.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

Thanks Phrozen, this is pretty much how I wanted to respond but I didn't really have any knowledge of the older system.
