gosh i was trying to edit my post and by the time I had the thread was locked. Please do delete it since its falling on such death ears, and to excuse me opening another thread.
What I was editing the post to say, was that you infact violate your own rules with the postage of Gus Mastrapa's article. To quote the violation withen the article "Let's just get this out of the way. The people worried about the look of "Diablo III" being too colorful are idiots. They're straight-up wrong" Firstly it violates your flaming policy.
To quote you on your rule "'Flaming' refers to any deliberate attempt to insult or demean other users, staff, people, or groups of people (on or off the boards). " Clearly this article deliberately attempts to insult and demean other users/people/groups of people by making a derogatory statements regarding people of lesser fortune / ability.
To quote your argumentative rule "Arguing is a conflict between numerous differing opinions wrought with illogical and/or irrelevant exchange, a lack of proper evidence, and innapropriate or impolite animosity" this is violated by his argumentative premis "They're straight-up wrong".
Then ontop of this, many people who have made REBUTTLES to his argument that have in all technicallity stayed within your rules, have had their posts deleted.
How can a forum that violates its own rules justify enforcing these same rules?
EDIT: where is this thread you are talking about? I have done searches for the user you are talking about as well as the part you quoted and found nothing.
http://www.diablofans.com/forums/showthread.php?p=485637#post485637 Posted by kenzai, I prosumed it was posted by a moderator not a user because it was featured on the main site, on second look it isint. It doesnt change the fact that it is a violation. Now ENFORCE your oppressive caveman laws!!!
Quoting something in a context wherein it is presented as a quote for informative reasons does not count as saying it yourself. It never has. Anywhere.
Your point here is completely ridiculous and it is becoming clearer and clearer that you are just trying to stir up the shit around here. Keep it up - please. It makes my job that much quicker.
I enjoyed your comment about the middle ages, I was only using it for effect not in a literal sense. As I feel you are non literally chopping ones head off.
As I said in the post, those that have then presented a rebuttle to his comment have had their comments removed. atleast 2 that I have witnessed, that have in every single technicallity stayed within your posting rules. They have adressed his comment because they have taken OFFENSE. You have oppressed their opinion, Only because you do not like it.
I feel I have wrapped my head around your rules. I realise Its foolish to try and test your rules, as you firmly beleive in the benefit of them. However it is the first time Iv encounterd such rules in a forum so it is only naturall, to revert back to the reasoning of why other forums do not incorperate these rules.
From now on I must hold my tongue and not try to inject my humour into my posts, because really, Im just a big bully making everybody feel unpleasent in the elementary school playground.
Looks like its time for me to go back to 4chan where I can offend other users, troll threads and post false information till my heart is content.
Middle ages? Maybe 23rd century. Terror must be maintained.
Although, on a serious note, I don't know what forums you've been to, I've been to a few where rules are much stricter than here (usually non-English). I've been to forums that have virtually no rules. They work in their mysterious ways. And after being with this community for 3 years, trust me, it needs something more strict than the average English moderation, or it spirals out of control, and becomes deserted.
Flame eliminates the possibility of opinion. It's like deciding arguments with fist fights. Maybe its your style, we back here do not like it. Flame and humor are usually hard to confuse.
You choose the forum as the topic, and also as the community, and as the ruleset and the moderators that implement that ruleset. If you happen to disagree with certain rules, your opinion means little as you are not a member of the community and are just looking forward to disrupting what has been created here.
You may want to check out diii.net if you are interested in a more lenient Diablo III forum.
King Crimson fan, perhaps? Why couldn't you just create an introduction thread?
The policies on flaming and trolling do not in any way limit opinions. They only limit how they are represented.
For instance:
LOL stfu nub GTFO LOlZLZLoL!!Z!11!
Flame.
You obviously don't know what you're talking about. You're wrong. You must be some immature brat who sits in his basement all day.
Trolling.
I disagree on [topic] because of these reasons [reasons].
Acceptable unless said reasons are trolling or flaming.
Opinions are not squelched. You are perfectly within your rights to disagree or agree with anything so long as how you say it fits within the forum rules. The only things we limit discussion-wise are things that minors are not legally supposed to see/be in to.
At the same time, when you registered for this site, however, you agreed to the following part EULA:
By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws.
The owners of DiabloFans.com reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason.
So, although you have the privilege to discuss, your privilege of posting here is provided free of charge, so long as you obey any laws that may be applicable to you in a specific region or the place the data is stored and the precepts that we, as the staff, are allowed to set (covered under the latter clause) to maintain a civil, friendly, productive, and cohesive social environment.
Now, what does this mean for you and how we will respond to objections? We will not squelch any disagreement so long as it abides by the forum rules (which do not limit opinion but how it is represented). Now, if you want the most efficacious thread, a bit of cordiality and respect can go a long way, not only with staff but with other members, as well. If you haven't learned this already, you might do very poorly in the real world.
(For instance, calling the forum rules we have labored for years to create- yes, years, often including month-long heated arguments in the staff forums- a joke will not bode well for the impression that would be most effective.)
