This game used to be all about farming gold during the Auction House days, and I'd hate for it to return to that. So selling legendaries for gold, especially specific ones - to me that's a horrible idea. On the other hand - I'm all for implementing a way to get specific legendaries, but I'd prefer this to be similar to Hellfire amulet and ring, only much much harder - i.e. put it behind a really tought and long "quest".
Once you get a Boon of the Hoarder, gold becomes absolutely pointless. You get so much you don't know what to do with it. Friends who used to be perpetually poor now have a billion+ gold.
Also getting legendaries directly through a vendor without some sort of risk/reward system (ie crafting, gambling) brings us one step closer to the abysmal gameplay experience that the Auction Hall brought to us.
I like the general idea, But it would need too be looked at very hard, I think A shard kinda set up could work. (with some other mats and a nice chunk of gold, say around 150m for example) Make them decently rare too find, and you can stack them up. Say the rarest items would take 50 of them. But the catch would be it..would only be a 40-50% chance too get the item you want. I could deal with something like that. But just pure gold, defiantly bad bad idea.

Too add on, I think they would have too do something along the lines of, you have too get something shard piece's maybe, ect from all different ways in the game too form one shard, well still being hard too do and random. With Bounties, rifts, Grifts, ubers, boss's and so on.
^ yeah still agree, i think all together unless they came up with some amazing system it wouldn't work for this game. Just not the way a game like this goes. Even tho after all my hours and Blood shards I still haven't seen a Witching hour :/
I was para 518 on nonseason and NEVER got my Taskers and para 400+ before i got them on Season.
Maybe put the vendor once you clear the Greed Realm
Make the items like 5 billion each so it will still be challenging to get the item you want
This will atleast let players play with a HOPE of getting the set item they need
1. You have found the item , all hail the rngod.
2. Make the cost be high enough for it to be something you can afford weekly or so.
