Playing a casting class for the first time and I'm not sure about the effects of weapon damage on casting DPS. I guess my question basically is, is the below picture accurate for a caster? In my mind I'm thinking it doesn't matter what the weapon damage is because I'm not actually using the weapon, but hey, I'm probably wrong. Thanks!
Weapon damage always matters. Unless the ability deals a specific amount of damage, then it all ties back to wep damage. For example, deals 400% weapon damage versus chance to bleed enemy for 13,000 damage over 3 seconds.
With casters, you also need to worry about attack speed and how it affects your resource spending. With AT or disintegrate builds, you will spend more AP faster unless you have a way to recoup it quickly or reduce the time it takes to drain your resources (APOC). It's a balancing act between how much damage you can dish out, how fast you dish out that damage, and how long you have to wait before you can start again.
