ive heard from many streamers that the 10 hour maintnence tommorow is partly for removing shrines and pylons from greater rifts. you guys might think this is a good idea, but everyone who has made it really high on the leaderboards have done it with shrines, for instance theres a barbarian that did greater rift 45. theres no way thats possible as a barb without a shrine for the boss. i say that because barbs can only kill maybe 10% of the rift guardians, and its hard enough to even kill that one. at 45 though im saying with the time that he got, its VERY unliekly that he didnt have a conduit. so now the barb solo leaderboards is not going to be broken and its not fair to the barbs that got unlucky and didnt get a shrine and now will never be able to get a shrine. its ok that they remove it, but really do they have to do it in the middle of the season?
Rifts and Shrine removal sounds like the kind of thing they'd do in a patch, not maintenance. So, unless they're patching tomorrow (which is entirely possible), I wouldn't count on any changes.
They should remove them past a certain level. I don't see why not have them in a lvl 25 rift.
When it comes to the competition of the ladders, having the already RNGness of the mobs, then density, thennnnn having pylons in there as well is quite a lot of bullshit to deal with.
Shrines and Pylons should have never been there to begin with. Greater Rifts (and its ranking system) should NOT be based on luck (this also includes mob type and density variation in my opinion).
To continue in that line of thought, Blizzard should've created an entire new monster that would have only appeared in Greater Rifts. They should've never used mob types from the current game as their difficulty range is so wide, it makes the ranking system completely depend on RNG. Different layout is fine, but there should always be of the same density (fixed number of mobs per square feet throughout every possible layouts).
Then, and only then, would the ranking system be representative of the player's skill.

1. Listing to streamer isn't reliable source of information about game development. For the most part they know about as much as you do.
2. Your reasoning that they shouldn't be remove is exactly when they should. Reaching high level and class imbalance shouldn't be "coz i got a pylon"
3. Season 1 was already destoryed by the paragon xp bug we saw. Removing it middle of this season would make no diffrence although i agree normaly they shouldn't.
If it's not pylons, its density and pack affixes / which RG you get.
Everything in this game is based on luck. When you are talking about the top tier players, the skill gap is so small the rankings all come down to their gear x density x affix x RG x pylons x pylon placement.
Taking one layer of RNG out of the equation isn't going to matter at all, other than securing the top for the players that are at the VERY top thanks to the gods of RNG granting them high density, easy affix rifts WITH pylons .
I'm completely fine with them removing something that's obviously broken in the middle of the season. I don't agree that just because the season is still going on, something shouldn't be fixed.
I can't see them doing removing pylons now , too late , maybe for next season .
i hope your right because it would kill the leaderboards completly, everyone who would be at the top would never move from number 1 , 2 , 3 etc for the rest of the season, i guess we'll find out when the maintenance is over. when it comes back up i'll be running greater rifts constantly to find out.
but then again they didnt even remove an exploit they KNEW was in the game from the ptr, so i can see them doing this.or how about leaving a 70 billion exp per hour matheal exploit in the game for monthes. plenty more examples but im tired and dont feel like complaining.
I've edited the thread title as it's clearly misleading. OP, unless you can provide evidence (i.e., bluepost or exact source) don't state it as a fact. Streamers saying something is the last thing you want to bring up as "evidence", they're just shouting out their "facts" to get more views.
That being said, I really think this is the case, I've pointed this out in other threads as well... I do think the patch tomorrow will see Conduit Pylons disabled. If not, non-seasonal leaderboards will be completely useless as there are already people clearing 45+ with Conduits. But again, unless we have patch notes or a bluepost, phrase it as a question.
Are people still having a bitch about Pylon in Grifts? Its been so overplayed please think of something new and original to bitch about.
If something is fun for someone they need to cry about it until it gets removed. I knew this stupid crap would start when Blizzard added their stupid esport garbage of leaderboards. It's no different than PvP, someone couldn't possibly be better than them, they must be overpowered. NERF THEM!!!!!11111.

Yes it must be completely new to you that people want a fair, skilled based environment in a competitive ladder
LOL
I've likely been gaming longer than most of the people here. One thing I've learned in my many years of gaming, the overwhelming majority of gamers want nothing resembling a "fair" competition or in the case of PvP a "fair" fight. They will do anything in their power to have the deck stacked in their favor. And that is a fact.

How does abusing what lack of balance there is mean people don't want balance? That's just dumb... Just because you use something doesn't mean you want it to be like that, competitive people want to get first and therefore will abuse unbalanced systems to achieve it because if they don't someone else will and then that other person will get first. I'm sure the majority of people would prefer this unbalance didn't exist and everyone could just compete on a fair playing field.
On top of that, the current system just plain isn't fun... Not being able to complete the floor unless you roll a good mob density, good mob type, good map and conduit for the RG is just bad design from both a fun AND competitive point of view.
I don't believe blizzard will change anything that drastical during a season.
What would be the point of the ladder if the top postions would become unreachable? This is why they cannot nerf players during the seasons, but of course they can buff players by generally increasing mob density or pylon spawns since this would not put any people in a disadvantage.

You all do know the overwhelming majority of people couldn't care less about the epeen race, right?
Most people aren't going to be anywhere near the top of those leaderboards, but you guys are all ready to volunteer to have content removed from them just so you can try to impress each other.
And they account for what percentage of the total player base? Yes, a very tiny one relatively speaking. So no, we don't want changes that negatively impact everyone just for the sake a few who want their name a little bit higher on a list. I mean if you've going to remove shrines and pylons, why not make every rift level spawn exactly the same mobs and drop exactly the same items...I mean...that's "fair", right?

It's my humble game designer opinion!

WAAAAHHHH HE GOT A RANDOM SHRINE SPAWN AND IT MADE HIS EPEEN BIGGER THAN MINE ON THE LEADERBOARD WAAAAHHHHH!!!.
The whiners won't be happy until every bit of fun is sucked out of the game to make it completely "fair"
And by fair I mean the deck stacked in their favor.
(Hopefully OP is just trolling though. But it still doesn't change what I said).
