Look at it this way, you can benefit from not finding 1 item (i.e., RORG). You get s boatload of keys, and a ton of other items during your search.
I know it can be frustrating - I was on this never ending quest to find Taskers (Which i have given up searching and dont care about those stupid gloves anymore -lol). While searching, I was able to fully upgrade both of my WDs (outside of of SMK , Tasker, or harringtons). And by upgrade, I think i have gotten around 15 sojs, 2 witching hours, duel jades, almost duel zunis, hexxing pants, 10 perfectly rolled Magefists (not including the 13 Million other magefists - lol)
It does suck though when you are waiting for one item to drop to finish a build. If that is the last item that you need for a perfect toon, start another with the same stats (i,e,, WD to Wizard, or DH to monk) - at least you can gear them up and get and WHEN you eventually get a RORG, it will roll with stats that will transfer.
Plus its nice to to Lootshare with other folks (until they get the item that you were looking for and then you slightly hate them, congratulate them, barder with them, and then hate them again for not giving it to u - lol
Sorry for any typos - My English is fine but my actual concern for proof reading is negligible
remember the video of the guy who did 20 t6 cache runs and got 3 rorgs? that's definitely a factor. i have several rorgs, it's just not perfect ones that i get.. however, i do run t6 a1 cache runs and i usually get one every 10.. not always, but usually, yes

I can confirm this. I too get more or less one every 10-15 caches on T6 (might just be the case of good RNG though)
Lol... just lol. Maybe it's my bad luck but after countless runs on T5 (lets say 200+) I've had one.... Don't get people's hopes up if YOU are lucky.
I don't really believe that 200 t5 caches got you just 1 rorg, but supposing it's true, it doesn't change the fact that higher torment = higher chances of rorg. that's part of their implemented changes. don't keep everyone's hopes down if YOU are unlucky either
Yeah, I get the whole, deck out other toons thing. I have FOUR wizards, each different full elemental and it does help somewhat, but they all need RoRG's, hehe....I may cry...

You're making it seem it's ~1:15 chance in T6, and I know for fact that you know that's not true. All I'm saying.
You're right, it isn't true, but I'm confident it's close to it. It can be less efficient when doing t6 cache runs in a full party but I did 10-15 T6 A1 party cache runs maybe twice, in both instances, only 1 out of 4 did not get the rorg. but I get your point, I do not mean to state it as fact that 1:15, however, it is a fact that the chances for RoRG are so much higher in T6
not sure if its been mentioned dont forget that you can also have a chance for the ring from act 4 bounties as well. got mine on my WD from act 4 bounty cache
do act 1 bounties then open caches, the rest is just luck, no game mechanic improves it so you just do as many bags as it takes with effencicy simply being the most bags per hour which is where split farming comes in and split farm act 1 is easy becuase everyone does that act, now split farming a Helltrapper from act 5 now that is difficult
Well, difficulty improves it. Nowhere NEAR 1:15, but it does improve it.
I don't know exactly what it is, but there is some info out there to get close. The 1000 bounty guys both did it on normal and averaged somewhere around 10-11% legendary chance per cache. Assuming the same leg drop rate increase for caches as there is for other areas (15% per T-lvl I believe, in this case starting at T2), that would mean a 75% increase in drop rate, meaning you'd get a legendary in 1/5 caches (or less). I really doubt the chance is much higher than that, if at all. Now if you think the chance of that "any legendary" being a RoRG is 1 in 3 (33%), then you could call the overall chance 1 in 15.. But I think that's a ludicrous assumption. It's probably more in the single-digit percentages, which means it's going to be far less likely than you're suggesting. Even if the legendary that drops has a 1/10 chance of being a RoRG, that's still an average of 1 in 50 caches containing a RoRG.
I'd love to see an explanation that puts the number around 1:15.
It's soul destroying... I took a 10 day break from the game and had a session last night. I farmed 35 caches and did not get a single legend drop.
Was anyone playing on the US servers at the weekend ? notice the large number of bugged out games ? At one point, I entered and left 4 bugged games in a row. In total, entered around 18 bugged games during the session.
There seems to be a new bug affecting bounties where you need to kill all monsters in a certain area. Some monsters you kill stay standing but in a dazed state. As a result, you cannot complete the bounty as the system does not recognised them as "dead" and yet you cannot attack them any more. I had this twice last night.
It makes RORG an even greater challenge. Like you TaargKrizzt, I can now only hand farming for short periods. The monotony is awful...
Hmm I didn't have any bugged out bounties this weekend. Were you playing with other people? I did all of mine solo.
I would just like to say I was really lucky over the weekend when leveling my Demon Hunter. Got my first ever one Saturday around level 41 and my second one Sunday that was rolled a lot better than the first except no socket. Playing on Expert Difficulty if that matters to anyone.
"And idk y "purchased ROS" was part of and argument or point, but purchasing ROS,entitles you to, surprise, play it. Nothing more, nothing less."
Of every 60 minutes I spend split farming, 30 minutes is spent farming, 30 minutes is spent being disconnected / staring at a search screen wondering whether it has hung or not / entering and leaving bugged bounty / killing Diablo.III.exe and restarting / queued on the authentication server for 1/2/3 minutes a time. I don't expect the game to be perfect but I do expect Blizzard to make sure their infrastructure and services are scaled up adequately to accommodate all the licenses they have sold. Its a great shame that the process of split farming for a RORG exposes me to all these infrastructure related issues.
I agree rifting is generally repetitive aswell, however, after I have entered a game with a decent group, I stay in the game for at least 5 to 15 rifts thus avoidthese issues and I am actually playing 100% of the time. When split farming, I have no choice but to leave the game and then go through the same rigamarole again.
Have blizzard considered, if they allowed bounties to be reset, they would lower the load on the "game search" service considerably and overall, the game play ( split farming ) would be considerably more efficient for us ~ win win on both sides.
If this was a free game like DOTA, then I would quite happily take the rough with the smooth but as its not free, I expect a bit better.
PS: Yes, I am sooo obsessed about the RORG. You must have been too to farm 4 RORG. Tell me, how did you get over it ?.
1.- I agree 100% with you if thats the case about your problems with the servers, etc infrastructure over all. That's trully something you can demand to be "decent" if, like you also said, bought the game, and it's not free. So point there. I do not have such problems really, so good thing that you cleared that out.
2.- I can also agree with the "reset bounties" point. My connection it's slow, so it's always a pain in the as* having to leave game and re-enter.
3.- The only part of my post you limited to answer was my P.S.
4.- About the P.S. Like i said, all my words were with respect, so i don't expect to have to lower to a child level to discuss with you about this. When I used the word "obsessed" was with no mean of making fun of you or nothing, because i know that on this game that consist basically on grinding and finding gear, especially if like this you need specific BiS items for build/classes, it's quite easy to get stuck trying to get an item. I did nt have and obssesion with the ring to get four. Was just plain luck, like i think i said before. I just did bounties like everyone else to try and get a ring for my strength class, then for my dex class, and then the intel one, so that my chars could get set bonus (yes, i am a declared althacolic, lol), and also to get the bracers, but I never really have a bad time doing them, or opening cache, etc like you seem to have. So there you go, not really an obssesion to get over, so i can't really help you there.
In order to figure out if split farming Normal is faster vs any of the Torment 2s and up, we need to have numbers on the how much the increase in drop rate is per difficulty. Without that info we can't really have a discussion.
"When I used the word "obsessed" was with no mean of making fun of you or nothing,"
Yes I know. I was also re-iterating that due to the way we have to farm RORG, we are all having to demonstrate classic "obsessive" behavior. Those who are not obsessed would not even bother trying to find it the ring.
Regarding bugged out bounties, I think the buggiest ones this week are "Helping Merhan" and "Cleansing the Lyceum". The later one has bugged out on me 5 times in the past 2 sessions I had ( each session is around 2 hours ). There are other bounties aswell including Jar of souls
Regarding RORG drop numbers, on my profile, I have completed 1450 bounties. Of that 1450, I would estimate 1350 bounties were completed during split farming on NORMAL. On average, I complete 1.25 bounties of the 5 to get the cache so lets just say I have earned and opened 1000 caches. So far, I've only seen 2 RORGs ( one mediocre, one bad ). I have seen lots of Leorics Amulets, lots of Scepters, lots of bracers and today, even a Witch Doctor-only knife called "last breathe" which I is not listed as an Act 1 cache legendary drop.
I am definitely not seeing any 1:15 drop rates that others are seeing. I also do not think an Act 1 cache legendary drop has a 20% chance of being the RORG ring. From my experience, more like 4%. Amulets and bracers are around 35% each. The others make up the rest + knives which I am sure is a bug, Nb I am a wizard so getting a WD-only knife as a cache drop after 2 hours of split farming is really sprinkling salt on the wound.
I am convinced there are RNG bugs. Bugs which mainly lower and sometimes raise the probability of drops. Bugs which even allow non-class items to be dropped. Last week, I got a Tal Rasha Orb from Kalada. Wasn't there a blue post saying this wasn't possible ? My clan logs may support my claim should anyone dispute it.
Sadly, i find complaining about Diablo on this forum is actually much more stimulating and enjoyable then playing the game.... The game is mind numbing.. It really is

There is a data collection thread but the sample size for higher torments is terribly low.
