Sorry if this question appeared before, but i would like to know something, and i need your opinion:
If i want to farm only tne Act1 Bounty ring, can i do it on normal diff? I mean i know it can be drop there but, is the dropchance of the ring effected wich difficutly i got my cache on? I mean does a normal cache has less chance to drop the ring than a T1 cache?
What is the most efficient way to farm for the Royal Ring of Grandeur ?
I currently farm Act 1 in Public - Normal mode following the Junger rules as closely as I can. Although this should be fairly fast, I am finding it painfully slow because :
1. Around 25% of the games I enter are bugged as in they cannot be completed for some reason e.g. Destroy the Jar of Souls which is missing. This is not a major issue after the Tuesday (US Server) reboot but it becomes one very quickly thereafter.
2. Entering a game times-out 20% of the time requiring me to kill Diablo.III.exe and start again.
Is there a better way to do this avoiding some of the system issues ? a group/party I can join ?. A quick way to restart the game
I can generally clear any bounty in under a minute ( unless it’s a particularly demanding one or a huge map ) and would like to farm with other like minded folks.
Hahaha, Junger is one of my officers in my clan. He's really got a cult growing in his wake...
Doesn't help that we stream his "Junger Rules" runs every Friday and someone in the party always ends up getting a RoRG within the first 15-20 Caches on Torment II.
As for games bugging out, that shouldn't be the norm. I haven't had a quest bug out on me in the last 3,000+ Act I Bounties (the last one was the Crumbling Tower event and it didn't identify the quest upon entry). You ought to check in with Blizzard's tech support for client crash issues.
Nowhere does it say anything about common legendary caches. Even inthe more current link posted above, it simply says caches...
I'm going to go with simply "legendaries" until I see something that splits their drop rate specifically.
And it's no waste of time, T4-T5's are simple enough and the increased cash/drops well worth it.
IF someone has a reasonably current link to something that states their drop rate is different, I'd love to read it. I won't argue that the RoRG in general has a lower rate compared to other drops, but I contend it still receives an increase in T2-T6 UNLESS someone can prove it incorrect through reference.
Torment level DOES affect RoRG drop rate, it's been confirmed many times.
As a heads up, we’re looking to make two changes to Horadric Caches. The first change is to allow the caches to drop Torment-only Legendary items. The second is to increase the chance that you’ll find a Legendary item in Horadric Caches, including Act-specific Legendaries like the Royal Ring of Grandeur, based on the Torment difficulty.
I have totally lost count of how many caches I have opened but I knows it’s many hundreds and close to a thousand. So far, I’ve found one mediocre and one very bad RORG. Although I like playing Diablo and love the exhiliaration of the game, I really find the “process” of getting an RORG really repetitive, boring and even depressing to the extent I have stopped playing. The system issues ( timeouts and bugged bounties ) are the nails in the coffin as they have wasted so much time.
I have read forums where people explain why giving away legends too easily takes away the challenge and feeling of reward, however, as there are many people who have spent days and weeks just farming caches only to find nothing or salvage-worthy RORGs, it does make me think Blizzard have got it a bit wrong here.
Some of you may ask “why bother with a RORG if you moan having not found a decent one ? ”. That’s almost a good point but let’s consider the fact that I have picked up most of the most desirable gear and acquired them playing the game as its supposed to be played. I levelled my characters, I purchased ROS, I played many bounties and completed many rifts up to Paragon 272 playing in a balanced way which I really enjoyed. I experiment with builds etc.. all fun and interesting.
Playing Act 1 whether in Normal or Torment X mode again and again and again for days and weeks is not balanced and Blizzard ought to realise that this needs to be looked at. We all paid money for the game and if you put in the time in a legit and balanced way, we should be rewarded. They key word here is “BALANCE” which I shall repeat again and again just in case it was missed earlier. Anything to the extreme is not good….
To me, the way we farm for a RORG feels like an exploit because of its repetitiveness. If we got one RORG per 5 caches, then I think it would be flagged as an exploit. Only since the drop rate of a good RORG is astronomically small is it not.
Someone said you need to “do it like a job” . Yes, a really bad job ! and short-term amnesia helps.....
To those of you who did put in the time, two thumbs up... I cannot do it. I will get out of the kitchen
I find that split farming is the fastest way to find a ring. However, find a GOOD RoRG is a different matter. Of the 4 RoRG that I found (3 int and 1 dex), I'm quite lucky to find 2 that is trifecta (Int & Dex) after about 2200+ bounties (so avg around 1 out of 500 or 100 bags which is okay). It does get repetitive and boring after a while but that's why you get a team together to do split farming. Along the way you sometimes do get a few surprises drop. I've farmed for Act 1 bounties from normal to t6 so I just vary the difficulties depending on what I feel like that day. The good thing is that RoRG is bound to drop and it's just a matter of time.
My two "good" RoRG ring are :-
1) 497 int, 5.5% CHC (reroll), 7% ias, 46% CHD
2) 442 dex, 5% ias, 50% CHD (reroll), 5.5% CHC
So don't give up hope. Keep going if finding a RoRG is your thing... I still need one for my str class...

That’s almost a good point but let’s consider the fact that I have two sets of all the most desirable gear and acquired them playing the game as its supposed to be played. I levelled my characters, I purchased ROS, I played many bounties and completed many rifts up to Paragon 272 playing in a balanced way which I really enjoyed. Only since the drop rate of a good RORG is so astronomically small is it not. I usually play one hour after work, a few hours at the weekend. However, when I think about RORG, I just don’t bother playing any more because it really is not enjoyable. Someone said you need to “do it like a job” but as I cannot afford the time and considering the reward is only a ring of no economic or enjoyment value to me in the real world, its just not worth it. To those of you who did put in the time, two thumbs up.
In my humble opinion, you're part right, part wrong.
Yes, doing bounties its repetitive and boring. Maybe there's people that enjoy it, I don't know. But doing rifts it's not so different, for me at least, it's also repetitive. Diablo in general has always been a game about finding things to do, over and over again for grinding or whatever (going down again and again on cathedral levels, mephisto runs, killing baal, in old D3 doing inferno act I over and over again hoping to get "decent" gear for, surprise, going to act II and do farm it over and over again to, again, surprise, reaching act III where "the good loot" was suppose to be,etc. I don't know about you, or even if you played this game since launch. I did, and i can assure you that what we have now it's a hundred times better and more rewarding (been the rewarding topic one of those you mentioned). This does not mean that there is no room for improvement. Like every human creation "perfection" it's far away, and you can always go and change something for the better (hopefully). I, like i said at the start, also think bounties are pretty repetitive and boring, and i also wish that blizz makes and effort in the future to make this a more enjoyable experience.
Now, regarding the (in)famous Ring (Rorg), why are you even so obsess about it? Here I think you got it wrong. I actually have 4 of those rings (I know, lucky me maybe), and I am not even paragon 300 yet (and mines, have always rolled with main stat, ias [yeah, i know ias it's not what it used to be], sometimes vit and main stat, cc/critdmg). You say you're paragon 270 or some, and don't play thaat much because of w/e reason and you have found 2. I can assure you there are players out there over 300+ paragon and they haven't even seen one RORG. On the other hand, respecting to the "rolls" for me, the "power" of the ring, and the thing about it, it's the affix itself (wich, of course, you will always get, no matter the roll), because you're getting the bonus of ANY set (could be even more than one set at the time equipped on you) with one piece less. This has allowed very good combinations (6 piece set bonus with magefist, Cindercoat, and so and so, for all classes). Second (first was the affix itself), I don't know what you call a mediocre roll and a bad one, but seems to me like you're demanding a perfect roll (the fact that some guy had a fuckin RNG lottery price and got an obsene ring does not mean every RORG its going to be epic), forgetting that we now have the Mystic to reroll stats and make items that roll nice even more grotesques. It can be expensive, i know (believe me, i've spend millions and millions and gems rr things, with a helm of akkhan costing me more than 20 millions to get a decent cc on it), but what else do you want? That we can get smart loot, powerfull items with legendary affixs, AND that you can rr the one stat you like less over and over again without costing you a lot? what would be the fun on that? everybody running around with perfect items doing T6 like it's on normal difficulty. Personally, I prefer a more challenging game. Again, i agree that "challenging" it's not the same or it means that it needs to be boring or frustrating. Third, why even waste so much time on the RORG? It's not even a good endgame ring anyway. At least the guides i've seen, the high T streamers i watch, and my personal experience, there are other rings you should be investing your time on looking. Of course the game will get boring and demotivating for you if you are just obsess with one item, that moreover, you can just get by doing bounties over and over again.
So my advice will be to just get over it and invest the little time you have to play doing something else, more productive and fun. If you use that same time getting the set piece you still need (that i guess justifies the need of a RORG) you're probably getting it sooner (they buffed class set pieces drop chance) and can also move to get a better ring too.
All here it's my humble opinion and said to you with all the due respect, knowing that we can have differences in thinking. I just tried to be logical on the "train of thoughts" and arguments I put above.Sorry for long post ! Hope you can keep enjoiying D3! Cheers!
P.S.: Got all my RORGs on my own, i don't do split bounties. And idk y "purchased ROS" was part of and argument or point, but purchasing ROS,entitles you to, surprise, play it. Nothing more, nothing less.
I cant really comment express any insight on the drop rate RORG. I fortunately have 3 (One today - With good stats Trifecta) and one on my WD (See below) and one mediocre (on DH now). However, I do understand the pain and frustration of trying to get items (Taskers)
If this helps any, do not salvage any royals - If it rolled crap do not mess with it until Patch 2.1, in worst case scenario, you can roll a socket into for an extra slot for a legendary gem (which only will affix itself to rings and amulets)
FYI - Even a crappy ring is BIS to another ring (outside of SOJ, and TMF depending on build)
Case and point: I will reroll extra chd or %damage on my new ring today and will give my current ring on my dh to my strength class (Crusader). It has dex and no strength however I will take that hit as I could compensate that missing strength elsewhere.
For those of you with extremely shitty rolls, roll with your paragon points in mind.
a typical t6 class would have close to:
C Chance: 45 to 50%
IAS: 30 my opinion (Depending on Class T&T can also assist in compensating for missing attack speed).
The same can be said for certain Helms (i.e., Im missing physical damage, however my mask of Jeram has 90 increase damage which can compensate that loss)
CHD: as much as you can get after you get C Chance to around 45
The WD doctor provides a perfect example it can trump T6 with a shitty rolled RORG (Jade)
I would use a shitty rolled RORG strictly for the effect of getting my Quetz and Jade bonus, because i know that the damage of having that bonus far surpasses getting perfectly rolled trifecta. In addition, you are allowed a free roll so use it wisely. Once again to use my jade as an example, I would take what I'm lacking (Jade relies mostly on %c, CC, and CHD). I have low CC but high chd, then I will roll CC. I have high cc, but low CHD, then I will roll the other way.
Sorry for the typo'd ramble as I am at work and rushing this but I hope it helps.
remember the video of the guy who did 20 t6 cache runs and got 3 rorgs? that's definitely a factor. i have several rorgs, it's just not perfect ones that i get.. however, i do run t6 a1 cache runs and i usually get one every 10.. not always, but usually, yes

I can confirm this. I too get more or less one every 10-15 caches on T6 (might just be the case of good RNG though)
"And idk y "purchased ROS" was part of and argument or point, but purchasing ROS,entitles you to, surprise, play it. Nothing more, nothing less."
Of every 60 minutes I spend split farming, 30 minutes is spent farming, 30 minutes is spent being disconnected / staring at a search screen wondering whether it has hung or not / entering and leaving bugged bounty / killing Diablo.III.exe and restarting / queued on the authentication server for 1/2/3 minutes a time. I don't expect the game to be perfect but I do expect Blizzard to make sure their infrastructure and services are scaled up adequately to accommodate all the licenses they have sold. Its a great shame that the process of split farming for a RORG exposes me to all these infrastructure related issues.
I agree rifting is generally repetitive aswell, however, after I have entered a game with a decent group, I stay in the game for at least 5 to 15 rifts thus avoidthese issues and I am actually playing 100% of the time. When split farming, I have no choice but to leave the game and then go through the same rigamarole again.
Have blizzard considered, if they allowed bounties to be reset, they would lower the load on the "game search" service considerably and overall, the game play ( split farming ) would be considerably more efficient for us ~ win win on both sides.
If this was a free game like DOTA, then I would quite happily take the rough with the smooth but as its not free, I expect a bit better.
PS: Yes, I am sooo obsessed about the RORG. You must have been too to farm 4 RORG. Tell me, how did you get over it ?.
It strikes me as bad design though. Its a bit like repeatedly putting peanuts and bananas on the roof of your house then stating you don't like it when monkeys repeatedly climb up to feed on them. Err.. if you don't like it, you can always stop it by not putting peanuts and bananas there !.
The system issues I mentioned earlier occur in general, not only when split farming.

The drop rates for cache items are affected by difficulty but they are the same from normal to T1. From T2 onwards, you do get increased drop rates.
I've been running these at T4-T5 for the greater drop chance?
