... the fact that there is no combat log? We really do not know much about some spell mechanics. Trying to see the numbers and determine things does not sound that reliable. For instance, do FoH tempest stack? Is it possible for the same hammer to hit more than one mob? What is the rate of some procs? And many more. I know one can setup some tests to specific mobs and specific conditions but this will take much more work than having a combat log. They have the technology.
... the fact that tooltips are not updating dynamically according to CD reduction, passives and other modifiers. Why? Why do I have to see my bomabrdment at 60 seconds even if I have Lord Commander?
I'm guessing its a symptom of a balancing act between providing players with statistics to go off of and just letting players choose their build based on what feels best in game.
It would be cool to have a log, but its effect might not be as good, y'know. That's just what I'm guessing. I'm sure Blizz uses these logs when balancing.
I would absolutely love this, but Blizzard will probably never allow this. The simplicity is kind of what makes D3 Diablo, so I doubt we will see something like a combat log in D3 ever. I loved to do modding in WoW...
I see your point, but I think combat is too fast paced in D3. In WoW you don't engage multiple enemies as often, and when you do - the numbers rarely count.
The thing that we need asap is tooltip updates.
My main issue is that in a world where we now have school-specific and spell-specific properties on items we have no ability to know what %age of our damage comes from each source which makes gearing with those properties largely a guessing-game.
If I find an item that gives me +15% damage to Firebats how the hell am I supposed to know what that does? Unless I *only* use Firebats, there is no concrete way to know if I should use that or not. Personally I think that's too much obscurity.
So either better tool tips so we can understand our skills, or a combat log so we can interpret for ourselves. I really dislike the combat log idea. I'm definitely in favor of better tool tips or a short and comprehensive skills manual type of deal that I can open up in game.

But I also don't hate WoW, which is going to be the only anti-argument you'll get. It's from WoW, so it's bad, because Diablo ain't WoW!

They are already the scourge of WoW where all people do is try to jack up their numbers at any expense just to brag and show off their e-peen.
