Hey guys, i've been a diablofan since launch and its my first post here. I just wanted to share that my clan and I found the cow level does exist with the proof of the achievement.
I took a picture of this rift too. It was awhile ago and the quality might not be that good because it's zoomed in, but here it is:http://i.imgur.com/5pzEcxN.jpg
I would hardly call this a cow level. Blizz, try again. That's not what people wanted.
This is failure. More failure. It's like they try to fail sometimes, quite amusing, really.
Nothing fail at all. It's a quite reasonable way of implementing it if you think more than 1 second about it.
Had 2 years to think about it. That's not a cow level....those are *some cows in a rift.
And what you want is whimsyshire 2.0. Somewhere you go once, and then have no reason to go to again.
The fuck?
Anyway, now that you've made things awkward by saying something completely weird......
I had hoped since the fans expressed such reverence and nostalgia toward the Cow Level, as has been made apparent since launch, that the devs would pay homage in a far more significant way. Perhaps I'm the problem, maybe I don't understand? How many cows are we talking about in this new "cow level"?
There wasn't anything unique about the d2 cow level either except dr he method of entering it. They just used he act 1 wilderness map look and made it go around in a circle. This 'cow rift' is a welcomed addition. Only in my dreams though because it isn't real.
The entire rift is full of cows. Cows only (except for goblins, of course). How many enemies are in an average rift? Not sure, but certainly more than 100. I'd hazard a guess and say about 500 or so. On our 7 levels of crypt we certainly had way more than just 200 cows.
I actually think this is a perfect way to pay homage to the cow level. Having an event/item that you can spawn everyday and farm a million of cows? Wears out pretty quickly, and becomes even an annoyance if it's the "place to go" in terms of farming efficiency. As a rift, the cow level is something that you will only see rarely. Actually, we have stopped clearing rifts and just close it after the rift guardian. Could there be a nice area with goblins on the next level? Yeah. But there can't be a cow area. In a new rift, there can. And since we all have more than enough rift keys (many hundreds of rift key fragments) we just want to see as many rift guardians as possible and as many possibilities for a new cow level as possible.
By making things rare/exclusive they become more interesting and desirable, in my opinion. But it's just my opinion - if you're disappointed that's fair enough. I personally never liked the idea of a cow level you could just spawn unlimited times per day. That was not the initial feeling of serendipitous discovery anymore I felt when that crazy guy in a cow costume in Tristram started talking to me.

I want to be clear, I think blizz did a terrific job with RoS. I'm really diggin' the new Diablo.
That being said, this isn't about whether or not the cow level (D2) was inherently innovative. For whatever reasons, the event endeared itself upon the fans. Fans that waited the better part of a decade for a sequel. People would've accepted a new cow level, so long as it closely followed the original event in which it was attempting to portray.
Nobody answered my question about the number of cows. So far, everything I'm hearing and seeing leads me to believe that there is only a pack of cows with a boss, or something relatively benign such as that.
That is not a "cow level". It's like a lazy mans cow level. More like a.....like a cow event. No, that's not right. A cow altercation. YES!. That's it. We won't call this a "cow level". We'll call it a "cow altercation".

Ruksak, I am disappoint :-(
Please read the post just two posts above yours, #21. TL;DR: It's an entire rift full of cows only.

Your post wasn't viewed by me when I posted that. Nobody even bothered to mention any details about the rift. All anyone has ever done was post a screen shot of a few dead cows. Congratulations, Blizzard. You have more than 10 cows in your cow level.
Sounds kinda neat, wouldn't mind stumbling onto it. Not the same. Not as cool. What else is new, aye?
Like it was discussed there - the cow level has up to 10 levels, it's always the crypt theme, always comes with cows filled from beginning to end, always ends with the Lord of Bells, and sometimes even has the Jar of Souls event (or something similar) with cows.
It is super rare, but overall (in my opinion) much better than the D2 cow level. I hope you get to see it at some point, I'm sure you'll be amazed :-)

The cow level was awesome in it's simplicity. Something lost on many devs today. A wide open, unrestricted killing field that allowed the player licence to have a little fun. I would counter by saying there's nothing inspired or truly interesting about D3's "cow level". It's just random.
This is one area of the game that didn't need reiteration and re-visioning. Certainly of no particular matter to me, I just found this to be yet another curious example of them being willing to borrow from D2, but only just so much. Their hesitation to port enough over from the previous title did nearly spell doom for the franchise. Costing them untold thousands of players whom quit the franchise and walked away laughing at Blizzard and "their" Diablo.
What do you mean "cow level" and why are you posting blank images?
There is no such thing as a cow level! NO SUCH THING! STOP LYING TO THE PEOPLE!
This is failure. More failure. It's like they try to fail sometimes, quite amusing, really.
