Hello there, i guess i'm in the minority but i really do not enjoy the game so much if im playing with other people, i like to take my time while exploring, maybe listen to some dialogue, farm at my own speed, if i want to pause to go to the bathroom or just play with my son a little bit i can do it without inconveniencing anyone. Also, a game like this...i don't know, it doesn't feel right for it to be multiplayer, if you want to get the best challenge from the game then it HAS to be solo, specially in HC, the times i get to play in a group it just feels like a lawnmower of players going through mobs with spells flashing all over the screen that i can barely see my mouse cursor.
I used to prefer solo (especially in D2), but somehow this completely changed with Diablo 3. No idea why. Always prefer to play in group; other than trying out some builds, hunting some crazy achievements, or doing some testing (Ghom eDPS etc.) I haven't played a minute solo for about a year now, I guess. But I also prefer softcore... I can see how HC adds to the solo experience as it makes it "even more hardcore".
Ya, I dont like the social aspect oddly enough. I actually turn all of the chats off and just play alone. I like being able to do what I want, at whatever speed I want, and I don't get annoyed with other people screwing off.
I've always preferred solo game play in the Diablo series, simply for the ability to put on some playlist and grind for a few hours. However, group gameplay can be a lot of fun - provided the group consists of people you know and can talk to via Skype/Vent, etc.
Public games inevitably have some or most of the group going off in weird directions, wasting time in town - not very efficient.
I also prefer to play solo, because I can go at my own pace.
Playing with people I know can be fun at times of course, and I plan on doing a lot of rifts and bounties with friends eventually.
Rushing through things with the "go go go!" attitude isn't really something for me, especially not COTA runs and the like.
Might be efficient, but not exactly a lot of fun. For me anyway.

Exactly this. Even when I play(ed) World of Warcraft, it was solo ... I like to play at my own pace and not worry about others. My BESTEST FREIDN 4EVR is now playing, but I still prefer to play by myself.

I definitely agree with those points. I feel like it can never be anything other than rush rush rush in multiplayer.
I enjoy that sometimes, but only in small doses. I can't play more than a short session (maybe half an hour?) multiplayer, whereas I can play solo for hours. :-)
I do like to get into multiplayer games from time to time, it's not all bad, it's actually a welcome change of pace sometimes. But yeah, only in small doses.

yeah very very rare small doses perhaps, but i mostly consider it a time lost that could've been spent better playing solo
Since D2 the game turned into a strong social experience to me. Met really good folks while trading, and saw some priceless deaths in HC while in group. When D3 came out I didn't enjoyed the social aspect since AH killed all player2player interaction. I quite before paragon was introduced because I was only playing alone. I'm hoping now that after some time they allow trades and make D3 a great social hub like D2 was to me. Definitily I'm not a solo player hahaha, although I enjoy to play solo on the first playthrough.
I play solo the majority of the time. Whenever I play in a group there is always this rush rush rush through every aspect of the game mentality going on which I hate. And then there is always someone who just can't seem to stay with the group or always wants to rush off ahead of everyone else. I find this very annoying.
I play solo to start with all the time! Then eventually someone joins my game, but always private (clan and friends only)
Joined one public game for achievement and played for 10mins before figuring out its just a buncha of people who just want to be carried, no thanks, NEVER joining public again. Also turned off public chat because its just full of little kids trolling everywhere, no thanks for the spam!
I'm so glad they introduced clans, now i never have to see or talk to anyone I probably wouldn't have enjoyed talking to begin with, only people who I would play with

While I said earlier in the thread that I hardly ever play multiplayer, I do have to say, I think your one experience there was not typical and representative.
Most times that I've played public multiplayer games, the opposite has been true for me. I've been dropped in a game with people who were better geared than me and who rushrushrush blasted through the content. It made me feel like I was getting carried, even though I was trying not to be.

What's your take on this?
