Does anyone have any idea of the new drop rates? I sold all my gems, without considering the fact that if I want to level a crusader first some high level gems would have served me well. So, I will probably farm some gems with my main and then pass them on. I would assume the drop rate will be quite low though.
I don't see why they'd be lower than current level highest tier droppable gems? They really haven't changed much over the course of the game, though they do seem a lot rarer after 2.0....could be my imagination.
I'm mainly referring to marquise gems which will be 7 levels above current flawless squares. It would feel a bit of a let down if these gems are dropping frequently.

Why? Are you let down now when you find a flawless square? Of course not, because the "real" gems don't drop and you have to craft them. No different in RoS, it just takes everything up a few levels. I realize there are only four levels above the highest farmable gem in this xpac, but whatever, same concept.
Both will drop (at torment+ difficulty) with marquise dropping at the rate of current flawless squares I believe and imperials dropping at a rarer rate.

No, but those gems are pretty low level and the jump to marquise was pretty big stat wise and cost wise. On average, we get around 5-10 flawless per hour, which is going to mean we have 5-10 marquise/imperial gems per hour if the drop rates stay the same. It's not necessarily a bad thing, I just wondered if this will be the case as it will be very easy to kit out a level 17 (socketable items?) with full imperial gems if so and consequently will be worth farming for a few hours at 61+ before starting out with a fresh character.
Marquise drop as frequently as Flawless Square now. It's an economy reset - that counts for gear, crafting materials, but also for gems.
Imperial gems are pretty rare, I'd say about every 20 or 30 Marquise I found an Imperial (playing T1/T2 on RoS beta). Maybe even less, but it's hard to remember. I think rift bosses had a pretty high chance for Imperial gems though.
might just be me but Im keeping all my low level gems because i like to craft new amulets. the archon recipe has yielded me some very very good amulets that the mystic can alter to make that much better. I would hold onto your gems even though better ones may roll.

It's just such a toss up between my 7% crit 66% ch 6% as 80 dex yellow ammy and my new 550 dex 10% crit 352 vit legendario with the clones on stun---however, it took forever to get that neck, and I think most people will have a better chance finding a legendary amulet than crafting a good yellow one...the stats just never seem to trifecta or better.

ModeratorStart a new character and play on normal and you'll get low level gems. But yeah, specifically farming low-level gems is gonna be difficult.

I was getting sooo close too....
found 2 imperial from my whole run yesterday. the jump is HUGE. went from 64 int on one gem to 100 int on one gem.
Let me tell you this though, save your gold, don't spend for no reason!
Yes, coupled with the mystic costs when you dont get the affix you want the bills start to climb quick.
