How do I get upgrades in loot 2.0? I'm at 110k dps right now (brand new toon) doing T3 and I'm not getting upgrades outside of legendaries ever. My friend is at 350k dps and I'm hoping to catch him someday, but I've been playing 6-8 hours a day and getting almost nothing out of it. I thought the old inferno system made sense: certain item levels dropped only on certain difficulties, and you worked your way up. Here, it feels like T1-T3 drop exactly the same loot. Not more, not better. Just the same.
What can I do to get upgrades again? If there's something I can be doing, I'd like to hear. Thanks.
I mean, it's not all about catching up with my friend. At this point, I'd just like to be getting solid upgrades once in a while. Is it possible that loot 2.0 just has a ceiling for player progression? I'm sure I'm not at a hard cap, but it damn sure feels like I'm hitting diminishing returns pretty hard.
I thought the old inferno system made sense: certain item levels dropped only on certain difficulties, and you worked your way up.
Oh, really now. Is that how the old inferno system worked?
Are you talking about the ORIGINAL inferno system? The one that was a massive fucking failure because the gear progression didn't match with the monster difficulty progression at all? Yeah, that made total sense. I wish Blizzard would go back to that system that did way more damage to the franchise than any other decision they've made.
I loved "working my way up" by going to the AH to buy Act 2/3 drops so that I could move from Act 1 into Act 2 because the items I found in Act 1 weren't remotely sufficient to make it into Act 2. That was completely logical and totally fun. I sure hope Blizzard brings that back immediately so that I can jam my arm, up to the elbow, into a blender.
As to your ultimate question: what can you do to get upgrades again? The answer is quite simple. You've played for 6-8 hours per day for six days, so 36-48 hours. I don't know about you, but I never had the expectation that 50 hours in 2.x would give me a 350k DPS toon roflstomping T6 like a boss. As it stands, my WD entered 2.x with roughly 90k DPS and I've very easily got him up to 115k DPS, so it's not like upgrades aren't out there for people in your "damage range."
Also, if you're doing T3 with just 110k DPS you're almost certainly being carried. For a guy who is pining for the way it used to be, that ultra-hardcore inferno mode, I'd like to think you take more pride in yourself than to be carried. My wizard, self-buffed, is around 170k DPS and T2 is not exactly super-fast. How you're killing in T3 with anywhere near enough efficiency to find items with just 110k DPS is beyond me.
TL;DR
Quit being carried.
Quit whining that 50 hours on a fresh toon with 110k DPS isn't fast enough. That's plenty fast and a dramatic change from where we used to be. You'd know this if you actually played the game.

I'm seriously doing T3 with 110k. Solo. I accept your compliment.
For the record, I buff up to 110k. I'm actually lower than that.

Then that's your problem.
You're not being anywhere close to efficient in your farming. You're in way over your head.
I'm not complimenting you, at all. I could go and do T6 with 50k DPS, I'm sure, but that's not a very smart move aside from trying to act like a forum tough guy. If you're concerned about getting upgrades then you need to be doing content where you can efficiently farm. If you only have 110k *buffed* damage in T3 there's no way you're killing anything remotely fast enough to justify the increased legendary drop rates you're getting from bumping the difficulty up that high.
hes right.. i JUST moved up to farming t3 efficiently (solo) in my opinion with 500k buffed DPS..
there is absolutely zero benefit to you doing t3. you farm 3x as slow as you would T1 and thats probably being very generous, and the drops are identical... and the XP bonus at that slowed speed is more than void.
Long story short, and judging from the stats you've given to us, you're nowhere remotely near reaching the point where upgrades don't drop, or having "diminishing returns".
You simply need to stop expecting "getting to 'x' in 'y' time", otherwise you're gonna get hugely frustrated with the game. That is simply not how a RNG-based loot hunting ARPG works. Also, expecting every single pre-patch item to become obsolete (or easily achievable) simply with Loot 2.0 is both short sighted and a big slap in the face of anyone who managed to get to that point.
Best advice I can give to you is play in a party. It feels like I always get more legendaries in parties than when soloing. And legendaries are your best bet at achieving a higher DPS/EHP echelon (without relying on Trifectas).
OP could very well be farming T3 solo with 110k DPS, I've seen others around that DPS do it. Although, I think it would be more efficient to farm on T1-T2.

I honestly don't see how you need 500k DPS to farm T3 efficiently. I have 360k buffed DPS and 850k to 1m toughness (depending on passives) on my wizard, and I instakill trash in T4 and farm T6 with ease. What class are you playing?
As to OP's question, if you don't find enough upgrades from drops, try and craft items or check the AH for some decent rares. I've found that most items I've crafted have been pretty decent thanks to Loot 2.0's smart rolls.
wizard, there is no way you efficently farm t6. and do you mean with a group or solo? i dont farm t3 with a group, just solo. t4 is almost efficient.
you also don't instakill t4 trash with 360 buffed. define "instant" if it isn't one shot, you don't
Loot 2.0 changed things around enough that any character that hadn't been extensively AH-geared was basically almost at the start point: first drop was likely to be an upgrade.
But you quickly get to the point where you've seen 100 of each slot and now upgrades are only 1% likely, and so on.
you aren´t ever going to catch up to a well geared legacy char with loot 2.0 in terms of dmg im afraid, not until RoS.
but if you want tips on getting upgrades id suggest crafting archon bracers, chest and shoulders.
This is 100% correct. most Legacy characters will have gear thats overpowered at this point between 2.0 and RoS. You will never have 350k sheet dps now, BUT you CAN have over 350k dps with items that drop now in 2.0 with all the +% items and the procs like thunderfury.

It's just common sense, really.

Pre-patch i had a hardcore character that i played over 150 hours playing self found and had 55k dps...
My current barb is at 280k dps buffed, 1.4m toughness, 110k hp and i farm T3 and it feels ok.
My advice knock the difficulty down to T1 and Faceroll for another 100 hours and post back.
