I was wondering how leveling to 60 now compares to pre 2.0.1 patch. Ignoring XP boosts and whatnot, if you played through the quest lines of Normal/Nightmare/Hell (3x4 acts = 12 acts), you would be near level 60. In general, would the same be true for 2.0.1? In other words, if I played
through the acts 1-4 three times, would I be near level 60, or well past it into paragon? I realize there are a lot of xp factors like difficulty level & bonus buffs that make it hard to compare. I just wonder if there is a large difference between pre and post 2.0.1, assuming you play solo on easiest difficulty.
Well as a hardcore player, I always clear all areas and side dungeons and I enjoy taking it slow. On PTR my characters got to the levels between 50-53 by the time I kill Diablo. On the live 2.0 my new character was level 52 by the time I killed Diablo. I have seen other people who just run the campaign as fast as the can hit levels between 37-44 when they kill Diablo.
The levelling curve is insanely fast compared to 1.0.8. Since you had to beat the game on Normal, Nightmare and Hell in order to reach level 60, whereas now you can pretty much do it in one campaign run. I am not bothered by it to be honest. I am really enjoying the dynamic level progression, since all monsters are almost equally strong and award equals rewards. I can just go and farm at my favourite area all the time. As well as farming, you can also just level at the same area all the time. Personally I am in love with this new system!

I play on Expert when I level up and then I play on Master once I am 60, until I am strong enough to play Torment 1. I am sure there are better ways of doing it, but it works for me!
This will most likely get nerfed as soon as i share this but hey what is a forum for?
Basicly the best way I have found for leveling requires you to have 1-3 friends at lvl 60 that is pretty good geared.
Next step is to create your lvl 1 in torment 6 then equip your leveling gear as soon as possible to increase the exp gain. 1600 + 33 + 35 + 30 + 30 = 1728% bonus experience.
Your friend(s) then joins you. that means you gain a 1.3 multiplier to exp gain if 4 people is in the game. that equals 1728 * 1,3 = 2246,4% bonus experience.
Then you just sit down and follow your friends while they kill everything. aproximately 40-60min later you are lvl 50 this is where the geared friends comes in. torment 6 with lvl 50 mobs starts to get hard to kill if they are too hard i recommend going to torment 5. if not continue. Sadly my friends had trouble killing mobs without horrible dying at torment 6 lvl 55 so we turned it down to torment 5 there and then torment 4 at 59 takes jsut about 1½-2 hours to get from 1-60 this way. faster if your friends is really good geared.
ohh and get some defensive abilities cause mobs hit like a truck if you are not geared. lastly this is also a insanely good way to get white items. got 1250 commen debris last time.
Oh and i never got out of act 1. think we killed the spider queen when i got to lvl 60
what saphyron said, friend of made made a crusader last night , funny bit is, we were gona play our mains, but i just had to go to the toilet before we started, so he made a crusader and the idiot set it to torment V just to see what happens.... he made lvl 19 in the time it took me to finnish =)) So to see what would happen i jumped on my main to boost him. Torment 6 most of the way @ lvl 52 he turned it down to V because anything and everything was one shotitng him, after 1hr and 42 minutes he was 56.
I find leveling very different and its not the 100% or 50% xp boost, but the difficulty changes. Before you would 1-40 in normal 40-50 nm 50-60 hell then inferno (much like how d2 scaled), now i find the more you increase your difficulty the lower the level you will be when you reach 60. I do see friends leveling finishing everything far before 60 but they skip alot of things and rush threw.
Now that there is adventure mode and the new difficulty settings i find it a joy to level (compared to before) and its much easyer feels more rewarding and plays out much more fun in the long run.

I was playing on Master difficulty and had a high level (+30%) Red gem in his helm.
XP is insanely fast now.
Adding one to the helm gives you a 30%+ XP bonus and the one in the weapon gives a massive damage bonus so you can play on Master difficulty.
