It depends on your gear. If you have absolute BiS MP10 gear you might hold on to most of it and replace it in ~4 weeks when RoS hits.
The lower the gear, the higher the probability that you'll replace it on 2.0.1 already. As a rule of thumb, items like jewelry, belt (WH), gloves will probably be of value for quite some time; items like shoulders will be replaced almost instantly. There's no clear cut answer; I could see people holding on to almost their entire gear until RoS, some people replacing everything tomorrow, and most people will replace about half of it in the next few days.
If you frequented the Auction House, and are pushing 700k+ DPS on all your characters, depending on what stats you're prioritizing and what kind of build(s) you're shooting for, you may have SOME trouble upgrading. Items will be rolling with primary stats (like attack speed, crit chance, life regen, all res, mainstat, vitality, etc.) and secondary stats (like health globe healing bonus, thorns, +XP) separate, but often rares don't roll with more than four primaries. So trying to upgrade a Quintfecta item that boosts your DPS by over 100k may be hard to do, at least before the expansion when items can roll level 70 values.
Then again, if you played self-found, finding upgrades, even for specific trifecta+ rares and even legacy set pieces, should be no problem at all. I imported my live characters to the PTR maybe 3 times, and each time, I didn't have much trouble upgrading, on just about any class.
As I understand it, the new affix system and smart drops will make it more likely to find an upgrade at any level, but if you've already got top-end gear at 60, you still aren't going to get anything much better until RoS. In other words, if you are in MP10 farming gear, your chances of finding an upgrade right now are something like .001%. After 2.0, it will be more like .002%. Technically better, but still not great.
Basically, until 25th, your time is best spent farming gold and paragon xp or leveling alts.
Then again, they did add a lot of new item affixes, like Cooldown Reduction, Reduced Resource Costs, %Chance to inflict Bleed of %Weapon Damage over time, lots more common skill specific damage buffs, +%Damage to Physical/Cold/Fire/Arcane Skills, things like that.
And very often, those things aren't reflected in your damage or toughness ratings in your details sheet, so it's not like adding Reduced Resource Cost by 4% raises your damage by 5.43% and it's a clear-cut upgrade. A lot of those types of things, you have to kinda play with and experiment with to see if you like them or not.
Seems to be a big theme in the updates...the devs encouraging players to find playstyles they like, as opposed to playstyles they feel obligated to use because "efficiency."

I'm really kind of loving the new way to play. I'm kinda tired of math based details. No matter what this game will always have it, but it is kinda nice to drift away from number crunching. Makes it a bit more fun imo.
My wizard with 220k dps, i replaced 4-5 items, weapon and offhand was not even close to my vanilla ones, as crit dmg and life steal if removed from weapons on RoS weapons
Trifecta/Quadfecta+ gear will probably be the hardest to replace. It's not easy to get all 3-4 of those offensive stats all together even in RoS. Those should last you a couple weeks even after release.
Followed by some Legendaries/Sets which have specific offensive stats (Inna's Pants with attackspeed/critchance, Tal Rasha's Pursuit with attackspeed, Lacunis with critchance/highstats).
Things like Vile Wards, crafted Shoulders, most Chests, crafted Bracers, Belts should be the pieces everyone will be switching out pretty quickly, imho.
completely agree that the official forums will be nuts. sort of unavoidable if players haven't been paying attention to ptr/beta changes I guess, itemization is just so different. until ROS hits and we can outlevel current gear, things like a skorn that roll insane CHD, which can't roll anywhere near current levels in loot 2.0, will destroy the new gear that drops. break out the e-tissues.

Funny that you mention Skorn...
My SC Monk has been carrying around a Skorn, and yeah, naturally on the live game, I've found it almost impossible to upgrade from. Had I used the AH to find a couple really high damage fist weapons with CHD, sockets, and other good stuff, probably would've been easy to upgrade from the Skorn, but I've been playing my Monk self-found.
Here's the thing though...on the PTR, I managed to find a 1200+ DPS Won Khim Lau...socket, big boost to Lightning skill damage, probably Dex and Vit...and a 1200+ DPS Gift of Silaria...socket, probably Dex and Vit, and I think Move Speed, that was kinda cool to have on a weapon...and between both of those, I FINALLY managed to get my damage to a high enough place to compete with my Skorn, and be a more traditional dual-wielding Monk. I was absolutely thrilled.
Ultimately, people like CHD because combining that with high enough Crit Chance, high enough Mainstat and high enough Attack Speed equal huge damage. However, if all they're worried about is getting a damage number high, raising Mainstat high enough will do almost the same thing. Crit Chance, obviously, is a little more touchy, as it procs certain skills and SHOULD be a tad harder to get. But CHD, at the end of the day, is just extra damage, and that can be acquired in other ways.
I'm definitely looking forward to not being a slave to one or two stats, the skorn on my ptr char made the whole game experience less interesting for me. i'd find a nice ptr belt or something, which should've been an upgrade, but because it didn't have CHC on it, was a huge dps hit. definitely looking forward to starting fresh. it's good to know you're finding weapons that can compete though, because we're going to be running with 2.0 for a full month.
I didn't have any efficient MP10 farming characters before the patch, so I'm sure I will find upgrades here and there across the board that will keep me glued until RoS launch.
Also even if you have top end gear, There are the options to try out odd or strange builds since quite a few new affixes are in the mix now. I actually went away from Crit chance and Crit damage on both my Barb and Zombie Dog Wizard. The damage went down on the stats sheet but the characters felt lmore effective and they were a lot more fun.

On Strike and supporting Fallout 4 Mod Makers
Some fallout 4 mod makers have had their mods stolen and uploaded and downloaded on Bethesda's site for the Xbox One.
I think that people will, initially, be disappointed in Loot 2.0 gear because even with a lowly MP2/3 barb, it took me a few hours to start finding upgrades. Often, I was finding pieces that were comparable, but had high mainstat rolls instead of Crit and CD. If you're already at high levels of either of those, they can be hard to give up - especially crit, since certain skills gain a benefit from critical strikes (like Overpower's cooldown reduction). So, I found myself passing on a lot of marginal upgrades because I didn't want to lose crit.
Wow, really daisy? I thought things like Shoulders and Chests would be pretty easy to upgrade in Loot 2.0.
But I haven't really used my low-MP characters on the RoS-beta, so I wouldn't really know. I hope people don't overreact to that, though. There's a reasonable pace at which upgrades need to appear, and I hope most players don't expect instant gratification (and instant T 1-2 gear a couple hours into the new patch).
There will be drama as soon as 2.01 launches.
I have had many arguments with players on the PTR about loot 2.0 , every day somebody would come to PTR and start whining about loot 2.0 without even giving the new changes a chance.
It will be fun
But they will all come around once they find some of the new legendaries and try them , as long as they keep an open mind and don't disregard everything and quit after 5 minutes.

Pretty much this. After a few days on the PTR i found only 1 useful piece of gear for my main toon, on the other hand, all my low lvl toons had a blast
All in all, loot 2.0 is a big step in the right direction, so im happy with it.

I was coming from very well-rolled archon spaulders of vit, and an IK chest. I kept getting high STR chests, but without the sockets they still couldn't compete, plus breaking set bonuses. I actually found gloves, of all things, with huge crit, ias, and str, and a better ring (puzzle ring).
Another part of the problem was, my toughness was sufficient so I was only interested in damage upgrades. It was hard to shift around gear - I would find a piece that would add a lot of toughness and think, 'okay, now I have room to dump vit on something else for more damage," but just hadn't found that next piece.

Agree totally.
If you want my advice, ditch all your 60's gear and craft yourself a set, one craft per slot, and then play from there. It's much more fun if you accept the crit/CD nerf than it is to fight it, and you'll be surprised how quickly you get back to where you were.
I went from 90k DPS to 25k, and was back up to 90k in a few hours.
Will loot 2.0 mean we are getting upgrades right now, at level 60? Or is the gear we have now going to stand up until we start leveling on the 25th?
Thanks in advance.
