Well, better save money for expansion, because you will change your items pretty quick, especially now when u cant enchant legacy items. You can buy starter items for like 10 mil. if u don't have any,and that's it in my opinion.
Yeah, thanks Drachar, was just about to say the same. The drop rates were inflated in F&F beta, but that ended in December. The past two months were just about finding the right rate of drop rates.
No one's "panicking" or predicting the end of world, but I want to prevent that people invest billions in some endgear items that will just be thrown away in 5-6 weeks. Even a perfect 6%/9% Mempo will be replaced relatively soon, keep that in mind. "Get gear" is the worst advice you can give anyone right now; as long as you somehow get along it's fine, the difference between MP2 gear and MP10 gear is that you'll be able to level up in 3 hours instead of 10 hours (making up these numbers). Ask yourself if that is worth millions of gold.
Which MP level can you currently farm? And how much do you rely on Lifesteal, Critical Mass or WotB/WW to survive?
If you're at MP 1-2, it's probably worth spending some gold (5-10 million? been a while since I checked the AH)to be able to do MP 6-8.
Just so that you can start RoS content in a higher difficulty and get an increased magic find. The guys who can do MP 10 will probably play from lvls 60-70 straight on Master difficulty, and maybe even start doing Torment with only a couple gear upgrades.

You're not talking to OP, are you? His gems alone are worth more than what many people have in cash (all marquise). In general I believe if someone's gear is so bad that 5-10m can get them upgrades, they probably don't have these 5-10m in the first place. In that case, it might be better to save every coin of gold to be able to re-roll level 70 gear rather than blowing it on upgrades that become obsolete soon.
Nothing. I sold all gear. Gonna import to Reaper of Souls, then delete them. Saving my hellfire rings, 500 tears, 500 brimstones and all my gold (approx 100 mil).
If there is anything I would recommend, its gold. Everything between 0 to 2 billion gold is a very nice start in Reaper of Souls, but since everything is about farming, the AH doesnt give us anything we really need actually.
I was.I didn't know he was that rich, given that he mentioned buying 500 mil gold in the RMAH.
A friend of mine had 80 mil gold and his gear was like pre 1.0.2 patch material (barely able to do MP1). A couple months ago, with 8 million gold I managed to get him MP 5 gear. Mostly to farm Paragon lvls, but right now after maybe 20-40 hours played, he's up to MP 7-8, with most gear replaced and 110 mil saved up.
I really just meant that it kinda depends on how far behind the curve someone is. Like people who maybe stopped playing when Act 3 Inferno was near impossible to beat, but still have 20-30 mil gold, might feel worth it spending some to get at least some gear from the latest patches, so their progression into RoS feels a tad smoother.

But I'll sum it up for you again:
Besides some basic gear/gems, a few million gold, and paragon XP everything will be useless very soon in RoS.
