Am I the only one a little disappointed? From what I could tell from the video it was Diablo, Skeleton King and Rakanoth using the same abilities in Diablos shadow realm so they didn't make anything new they just grabbed 3 bosses and put them in the same place. Now, I fully understood this approach with the previous ubers because it was simply a patch so there not expected to do anything huge, but this isn't a patch this is expansion content and that requires more but ironically got less. I mean my dream was to actually have a call back to D2 by re-creating that uber with the male (awesome) Diablo, Baal and Mephisto in Tristram I just would have loved that yet while I didn't expect them to do something that awesome, I at least expected to see some new models/map/abilities and I think it's very poor what they've given us.
I liked the video, to be fair. I also agree that it doesn't "feel" like Uber Tristram though. Might be nostalgia
I think those fights will be a nice challenge (especially w/o CMWW). Unfortunately these fights tend to get trivial the more people you add. Just remember how easy SB+Kulle were when one player could kite SB through the entire area, whereas solo it was hardly even possible to survive any combo of the two.
I'm not so much talking about the difficulty of the fight, or even the appearance as both are acceptable. I'm simply complaining that it's not "new" it's simply three existing bosses thrown onto an existing map together and that isn't an acceptable standard for expansion content in my opinion.
They could have done so much with this, this is there one chance to put a lot of effort into an encounter which didn't need to follow there laws of lore. Where even the map itself is part of the encounter such as pieces vanishing, walls moving or bring back some old bosses for nostalgia or just create an incredibly interaction encounter with any idea they can think of because it doesn't have to make sense. Hell they even could of made it a zone instead of simply a boss room, with uber mobs and what not just such a huge opportunity to do really outside the box stuff and to waste it by just clumping a few bosses into a map is so disappoint.
Ubers don't need to follow lore, i've always felt that was kind of the point of them it's this other dimension that exists and thus doesn't abide by the current story meaning they could do anything. I love the idea of having used the angels to create a boss battle as like u said there models already exist but arn't used so it would create a new battle with half the work already done I just really don't understand why they half-assed this so much when they know how much people the Diablo fans love a good boss fight.
I'm simply complaining that it's not "new" it's simply three existing bosses thrown onto an existing map together and that isn't an acceptable standard for expansion content in my opinion.
The absolute same thing was done in D2 and no one complained
D2 ubers werent an expansion release content. Apples and Oranges

This is both wrong and proof you didn't read my OP. I did say within my post "I understood previous ubers because they were patches but this is expansion content and therefore deserves more" you know, because we're paying for it? If they lumped this in with the patch so it was non-expansion content I wouldn't have made this thread but they did, they openly said this is expansion content and therefore shall be treated as such.
On top of that, No, D2 did not do the same thing. D2 Ubers gave Diablo Apocalypse and summoned demons from a volcano, Mephisto gained conviction aura and summoned armies of skeletons and Baal summoned ghosts as well as doing some extra stuff that I don't recall right now. The D2 uber encounter was vastly superior to the ones they are putting in now which simply clump the bosses together and add nothing else. But I don't expect the same quality and dedication as D2, which is why I was fine with them just clumping together bosses for the patched in ubers but not for expansion content.
Expansion content should be new models, designed encounter, new map, creativity, maybe a whole new zone it should be content. They actually had a funded opportunity to go nuts with there creativity throwing all the rules out the window and they chose to clump 3 existing bosses together with no new abilities on some boring, flat, grey map. I was so looking forward to seeing the fight when I heard they was doing a uber in an expansion and honestly I think they put this together in less than 5 min.
Ah oh, so no problem there, scenario: they don't release it as content on expansion release they just make a ''content patch'' after the release and then you won't have the feeling you are paying for something that was basically C/P..... totally makes sence
No D2 was not that superior as you are presenting here, yes they had some different mechanics and some more C/P monster spawning but that was it, maybe you have a feeling it was superior because you had 3 uber bosses in one place, hm, maybe they should do it in D3 also
As to ''Expansion content should be new models'' how will you make a ''NEW'' Uber diablo ? make it to look like a huge evil pikatchu ?
It's Uber diablo and uber this and that boss so they should look like the usually look to be recognisable
Ubers are not part of lore so they are C/P the lore monsters and bosses are new models since they have some backstory, Uberbosses don't have backstory
I'm sorry but 3 bosses all of which have new abilities isn't more than 3 bosses which don't have a set of new abilities? that doesn't make any sense if the D2 ubers didn't have those summons, conviction aura and apocalypse it would have been a boring encounter and that is what the D3 ubers are.
You seem to be missing the point when comparing expansion content to patch content, when something is just patch content it doesn't get funded nearly as much as expansion content would be and therefore you wouldn't expect new models. But this is part of the package I will be paying £30 for, it's part of the package they are putting funding into and therefore I expect more than recycled content, the only reason ubers were reused models before is because expecting them to do all new stuff for a patch is just silly. Anything that's expansion content gets put at a certain standard for me, it needs to be new and interesting so just clumping 3 old bosses together doesn't meet that standard imo. If this was part of the patch, and therefore something they was just adding for the hell of it and was accessible to those who didn't own the expansion then my expectations would have been lower and this would be acceptable.
Oh also they could have like gone retro with Uber Diablo and created a fancy new model based of how he looked in Diablo 2 (this is actually what I was expecting).
Just make them harder with random abilities and random spawns. Uber Diablo for instance:
-Keep him summoning Rakanoth and/or Skeleton King. -Every 20 secs a Dark Clone of a player spawns -3 additional random abilities on Diablo for the entire fight, such as Freeze, Belial's Poison Explosions and Azmodan's Black Pool (old version) -Instead of a enrage timer, Give him a buff every minute, which let Diablo 15% stronger against Crowd Control effects and spawn an additional Dark Clone every 20 secs. After 5 minutes, for example, Diablo has a 60% buff and he'll spawn 5 Clones every 20 secs.

The hype is flowing through my veins...

The fight concept with Diablo summoning random Uber bosses is very nice in my opinion. Important question: does he summon only the "old" Ubers or any boss from the game - Azmodan, Belial, Spider Queen, Butcher, Maiden of Lust included?
It's always good to see something new, so I won't complain about reusing old bosses. But I would be so much more hyped if they gave us a "Classic Uber Tristam" with Diablo (D2 similar model of course, not D3 buttocks Diablo), Mephisto and Baal. Or even better: they could give us an "Uber Angiris Council" - the models for the Archangels are already in game, so why not make bosses out of them? Because the Uber events don't have to be tied to the Lore we could fight against the full, uncorrupted Concil - Imperius, Auriel, Tyrael, Itherael and Malthael.
Cool idea on the council fight
If diablo is actually summoning random bosses, this uber encounter just got more badass. If true, then I have zero problems with the fight.
No, I don't work for Blizzard but if ure honestly implying they might fund a patch more than an expansion then this conversation becomes pointless. This is kinda besides the point though i'm simply saying in MY opinion something that is part of an expansion release needs to meet a certain standing and this sort of copy/paste fight doesn't meet that for me, yes they could just wait and release it in a later patch and it wouldn't get this sort of backlash and i'm sure many companies do that.
This isn't really expansion content... It's just an upgrade to the D3V Hellfire ring quest, so that people can get a new Hellfire ring at 70. I'm actually GLAD they didn't spend loads of time and money on it, instead focusing on things that need the attention.
Now if they were to add an Uber Angris Council... THAT would need some attention

It's content that is being released with the expansion and requires the expansion to access it, i'm not sure what criteria you have for "expansion content" but it pretty much fits the bill for me. Regardless how small the feature is, if there going to use it as one of their selling points and restrict vanilla players access I damn well expect more than 5min work. Also "focus on things that need attention" correct me if i'm wrong, but one thing Diablo severely lacks right now is a decent, challenging boss encounter and imo that is something that needs focus and attention on as bosses should be a big part of the Diablo experience.
Maybe not for u, but for me if this was a arch angel type event or nostalgia trip or just some awesome and creative event designed by Blizzard with interesting rewards then I would be vastly more existed for it than I am bounties or rifts as ultimately they are just same thing different background to me. The thing that needs more focus is more methods of farming than simply running bounties/rifts and this could of been another thing, you could have done bounties to get rift keys in order to farm those or collect keys to go into some massive event to collect loot, it could have been something awesome and right now RoS needs more awesome stuff, more viable methods of farm like D2 had.
I'll admit if RoS was offering more features than I would likely not be as disappointed with this, but I mean right now when you get to end game all you're doing is bounties > rifts and maybe troll uber D for fun to get some rand ring. I mean, when I think D2 you could farm different bosses if you was searching for different types of loot, baal/chaos run in groups, trist gold farm, mlvl 85 zone farm, key/torch farm and that's just of the top of my head. For me that's what made D2 successful, the variety of things you could do meant when you was bored with one you could just do another but what about D3? What do u do when your bored with rifts and there is no other? I was hoping for an expansion-worthy uber event with interesting rewards to maybe fill that void when your bored with rifts.
I'd rather have them invest time in something like bounties, which results in randomized fights in a randomized environment and with a randomized boss in the end (rift bosses, some of them are nasty!) than spend weeks on creating one new boss encounter, with new model, new mechanics, new spells, new strategy, new minions - and all of that for one event. If the loot is mediocre, you're only gonna visit it a few times and weeks of development have been wasted. If the loot is awesome, you're gonna run this one boss until your eyes start bleeding.
Just my $0.02. I would be too afraid that they're creating Baal runs to infinity 2.0 if ubers are "too uber".
I'm thinking more of a key runs being similar to bounties and rifts similar to the uber run but instead of completing a bounty is a random drop from a strong creature (warden) and instead of clearing waves of creatures you do a relatively complex and long boss encounter with similar rewards to give players options.
