@Miles_dryden. Another example would be: you cast charge bolt then the charge bolts will cast away from your character from your mouse location.
What's the point? There are HUGE implications to this because your ranged spells/ missile spells not only cast differently but they instantly damage the monster that you target and ignore all monsters between. You no longer need to position yourself or wait for monsters to align for aoe spells to benefit the most. Spells such at charge bolt which are designed to be powerful short ranged spells become a powerful instant damage dealer to monsters of all ranges. Players in PVP would have no time to avoid the damage either.
That being said the down side to the weapon is that it's not going to have stats on it such as % elemental damage or resource generator to actually make the spells themselves more powerful.
It's just an idea and it has no concept of "lord of hatred" but an idea to change gameplay. *Idea* what of the missile attacks come out of a portal of hell like durance of hate lvl 3? What if not only the portal of hell shot your projectile but slung a hostile projectile at your character for every projectile that you cast?

So it moves along the same path as normal, but hits the target instantly and skips stuff in between? Ok, I can see that.
The entire stream was a lot of fun. We the co-hosts and the Diablo community team created a pretty big list of ideas with lots being pulled directly from many of the community sites (many from these forums!) and submitted them for the show notes. It was sad we couldn't spend more time going over them, we literally could have gone on for many more hours. Travis and John read through all of the suggestions in the notes so don't feel bad if your idea wasn't mentioned live, it could have been very well in the notes but just didn't make it to the discussion. A lot of ideas with a very similar concepts were also grouped together.
I wish I could have got some more suggestions/questions in but I was having a hard time trying to avoid interrupting the other guests (hard with 6 people!). I'd rather listen to Travis and John talk about the design process anyway
Blizzard will be providing a list of the choices for us to make, there wasn't really anything concrete from the discussion. Some good ideas were talked about and came directly from chat that Blizzard will now go through and try to make them work. We should be presented with a final list to vote on next time we hear about this project.
I wouldn't want them to take that out. MY DH is using a mace and a shield at the moment because he's a grenade DH and it's a lot of fun and I wouldn't want my build to be taken away.
Neither do the "infinite Archon" and "spin2win" people, but sometimes we have to take one step back to take two steps forward (yes, cliché, I know, but true nonetheless).inb4 "stupid comparison": Not comparing the builds (yours is more for fun than for efficiency).OT: I would really like to see items with huge benefits but also with drawbacks. Things like "can't be rooted/frozen/stunned whatever; can't crit". Things like that are what makes items truly unique, not "occasionally shoots out a ball of energy when attacking", that's just a gimmick.
Yea I don't mind the infinite archon and spin2win being taken out but I don't think there is any reason to take away DH's ability to use a 1 handed weapon. All it does is take away and I doubt they would ever add anything to allow DH's to be more melee focused.

Honestly, I think allowing DHs to have a dagger/sword focused build would be a better option than a whole class built around that. But that's just me.
That makes an idea pop to mind... Skill trees! One skill tree is our traditional Demon Hunter, while the other is a dual-wielding assassin.
I'm not completely opposed to skill trees returning, but it would seem an odd thing to do at this point. I like the skill system the way it is, and you don't need skill trees to have different builds, or even completely different themes for the same class.
Who said anything about a class built around sword/dagger?
Uh...you and Bleu did. You said that you'd be okay if DH could not use sword/dagger if that meant an assassin class would be added, implying the class would use sword/dagger.
Or are you just arguing semantics?
An assassin class would use, amongst other things, swords and daggers. Nobody said anything about centering the class around those two weapons.
So, ya, semantics. Got it.
I'd be happy to consider an assassin class as opposed to an assassin-ish DH build if someone can tell me what "other things" that class would be built around. Again, it would need to add something to the game not already taken by the monk and/or DH.
Ok guys, it's Maka's time of the month, give him some space.
But seriously, to anyone interested in discussing it, what would an assassin do to make him unique in D3? The DH and monk took a lot of the features of the D2 class, so how could they implement it in a way that didn't step on their feet, so to speak?

Say screw the Assassain and make a Necromancer instead! ♥

It would be cool to see the Necro return, but with all the boosts to pets the WD is getting (not to mention that RoS would have been the perfect time, thematically, to reintroduce the class) I don't see it happening.
The only Diablo 2 class features that are not echoed in any way in Diablo 3 is shapeshifting and throwing javelins empowered with lightning. I wonder if they decide to bring those to Diablo 3 some day...
Barbarian has Ancient Spear, and is getting some upgrades to his "throwing weapons" build in general.
Shapeshifting, though, could be a cool path to pursue, especially if mixed with a vitality mainstat. Or, potentially, you could have 3 different "forms" which each specialized in power, speed, and magic and used Str, Dex, and Int as their mainstat, respectively, similar to the WoW druid.
Travis kept saying he wanted legendaries that add a Game Mechanic that makes people change the way the play.
So thought of these in 5mins just now after watching the twizzcast
1) Using a Potion triggers a legendary proc effect. - Now we would use Potions while at full health..
2) Playing while in Zoom mode - A legendary that gives you a huge benefit for gimping your visibility..
3) Every time you identify/pickup an individual item you gain X% magic find for X seconds.. this effect can stack... - now I start picking up everything
4)Everytime you pickup gold you gainX% gold find for X seconds.. this effect can stack..
5) Every time you drop an item you gain X% move speed for X seconds...this effect can stack..
6) Every time you make your character talk using the numpad you reduce enemies damage by X% for X seconds This can only proc every X seconds. This becomes sort of like a barbarian shout but for all classes.
Will think of more ways that i could change my gameplay if I had certain legendarys..
