I just think this would be fun, Blizzard have already said that Adventure Mode throws the rule book out the window, what is the harm in allowing the followers to assist you in Adventure Mode multiplayer games?
Outside of some minor balancing around the allowable +XP +GF transfer from your follower in Ad Mode I think it would be cool to have these little guys around.
It would provide, at least for me, some nostalgia harping back to D2 when a party of 8 was stomping face.
4 players, 4 followers, not quite D2 but a step closer!
Personally I don't care much, never really liked relying on anyone else except my own character (it's why I don't like pet classes). Also, I think Blizzard was referring more towards Rifts where they 'throw the rules out the window', with mobs appearing in different tile sets then they usually do, game breaking shrines and the like.
I was paraphrasing regarding 'throwing the rules out the window' it is probably what you said Bleu, applies only to rifts and not Adventure Mode as a whole.
I love the whole pet/army type playstyle, the more the merrier as far as I'm concerned
The whole reason they pulled followers out of co-op was to lessen the visual chaos of 4 players, which is already pretty out of hand as it is. That much hasn't changed at all in Adventure.
I don't care really , they are not like the Mercs from act2 in D2 that were giving insane auras and buffs to you and the whole party.
In D3 they would just confuse the players , it is hard to keep track of your friends ingame as is :).
Maybe, similar to Elective mode, you could vote it On or Off.
If you joined a Multiplayer game it would check your options against the other players in your party. If the majority want it on, it goes on, if not too bad?
Or if you really want to be diplomatic, if ALL players want it on then it goes on.

I thought that was when they were talking about rifts, not the entire adventure mode. Why would they throw the rule book out of the windows when Adventure Mode will be the mode everyone plays all the time?
Yeah I think Bleu42 mentioned that too, I just don't read lolol
Even still, I think giving players the choice as opposed to flat out denying it leads to better customer satisfaction.
If you want to opt out then by all means but if it doesn't bother you or if you actually want them to join in, if you can somehow specify that through your Options or whatever then I think they could at least consider allowing it.
It would be nice if it kept the 4 'player' cap but allowed followers to sub for a player, so a solo player could bring all three with them (I think it was like this originally but the 'chore' of managing gear on them all was 'too confusing' or something for whoever they had testing), a second player joins and they can bring two, a third they can only have one, and with a full party they bring none.
Or at the very least, just let the host of the game be allowed to bring one in.
The restrictions on followers is definitely one of the more peculiar decisions they made, and I was really hoping we'd be able to bring at least one in MP. especially since they all have various 'aura' type skills.

Thoughts? Good, shit, don't care?
BUT, I wouldn't be *against* the idea.

What about that?
I guess the actual gain in gameplay value would be less than the harm (only in terms of clutter) but I'm not really against the idea.
