I still see a lot of people asking for diablo 2 ladder resets and well why? I mean the whole point of the resets was to reset the economy but if all the best loot in the game will be bound to you there isn't an economy to reset so what would be the point of resetting?
true, but the race to level characters after a reset also keeps the game fresh for a lot of players. I wonder if there being no limit to paragon levels will undermine ladders. personally i just think ladders are a good excuse to start over every once in a while.
Yeah I imagine that bop is there approach to the economy issue and paragon levels there approach to the leveling race, I highly doubt a ladder reset will occur and I understand why, ultimately with the sort of amount of players games get these days the only real way I can see to of kept items tradable without having pathetically low drop rates would of been to have shared like MMOs with a cap of around 10, 000.

First, as a slight correction...in your subject line, you make a claim about BoP, which I'm assuming you're referring to Bind on Pickup. The devs aren't making legendaries and high end items Bind on Pickup. They'll be Bind on Account 2 hours after they're picked up, but can be traded to anyone in the game they dropped in.
That being said...Ladder characters and Regular characters would be separated. So I assume, if certain people wanted to Ladder grind together, and trade items, they certainly could. You just couldn't gather a ton of items, either in Ladders or out of them, and then trade them to anyone for anything or give them away.
The game needs ladders as incentive to play new chars and find legendaries for the first time again. Six months is probably the amount of time things can remain fresh on the item hunt front.
The ladder progression is mostly about items and paragon level race and non ladder progression is only paragon levels for your veteran chars since it carries over from ladders when they finish. I really don't think that's bad at all considering paragon progression is literally unlimited. If now only they could focus on releasing expansions yearly (two ladder seasons per expansion) with one new class and act and a little bit of new content each time, I bet things will be interesting all the way until the level cap gets up to 100 and we have 9 classes (3 for each mainstat, 3 melee, 3 midrange, 3 ranged) and 8 acts.
If things really turn out this way, I gladly bid good bye to trading as something that inevitably turns into being the main focus of the game.
The drop rates in betas and leveling rates are way higher than in the future live game. Blizzard increases the drop rates for testing purposes - if anything is to be tested it has to drop first.
There is still a personal "economy" of sorts - your paragon levels, the availability of twink gear in your stash, all your friends playing at Torment 6, etc. Starting from true scratch has a certain appeal, so having a formal Ladder gives everybody an excuse to start from scratch together, and maybe they can do special rewards at the end of each season for participating. Not that I necessarily think it's a good idea, since it does divide the playerbase a lot.
OFC there must be a ladderreset now and then. Look on the streamers they got super gear in just 30-40 hours so in just few week u cant find any better and the game will be boring so i hope the reset will be every 3-4 month.

Exactly this. I keep seeing people complain about things dropping too frequently not realizing this is most likely for testing purposes.

This remains an unfounded assumption, we just don't know one way or the other.
Even if there is no global economy to reset, there is the personal "economy" of moving up the gear curve. Which, just like a trading economy, will be saturated at some point, where you have gained pretty much everything.
Ladder resets give you a chance to start over, and get the experience of getting lots of upgrades, building your characters around those drops etc, all over again.

But surely if people want this, they can simply do it by choice? I mean, u couldn't do it by choice in d2 because the values of items were silly so many months in which made a new ladder so fun as it made finding shaco exciting again.
People could do it by choice.
But ladder is by choice as well. Just a choice better formalized in an official system, where you can for example see your previous paragon lvl record etc (according to datamining) to add a better sense of competition (whether it is toward others, or just a competition against yourself).
And by having such an official system, it only makes it easier to get your friends to start fresh at the same time for example.

I'd much rather they give people ladders than to take trading away and not give us ladders.
More options versus fewer options... 99% of the time you'll find me on the side of more options.
