unbiased observers don't spend 100s of dollars to travel and see a subpar "blowing smoke up our own asses" gaming event.
While I agree the observers arent unbiased, it is a pretty awesome event. SC2 tournament, WoW tournament, hands on with unreleased games, cool panels, live band, good entertainment all around.
Some of them are. Some are not. Some know everything about D3 beforehand, some don't.
@maka I've seen people trying Diablo there without ever knowing anything about it.
People don't go to Blizzcon because they like all Blizzard franchises. It's part of the reason why the SC2 esport fans aren't cheering when a guy shouts "For the HOOORRDE!" up in stage.
Assuming that everyone that goes to Blizzard is a Diablo fan, or is extremely interested in the franchise, is very short sighted. (same goes for WoW news, my brother knew most of the "planned" changes beforehand)

lmao cool panels........yeah that's why the audience was deader than Britney Spears in bed.
lmao live band.......I'd rather listen to Vickie Guerrero for 2 hours than anything Blink182 has to "offer" nowadays.
lmao SC2/WoW tournaments.......I'd rather watch paint dry
good entertainment.............I can provide that in spades for free

I don't understand how this is relevant. Like you say, people that go are BLIZZARD FANS. This means they like what blizzard does. Either style, gameplay smoothness, or any number of other things. A fan of blizzard games will be biased in favor of blizzard in general. That doesnt mean the game isnt awesome, but be realistic here... also keep in mind they didn't get extensive playing done at blizzcon.

Why don't you go shoo off then troll? Why are you here?
It is strange though, that such a hardcore event, would be targeted at people who aren't hardcore and not up to date on new info, when I can't think of anything more dedicated than paying 175 dollars to go to such an event. I mean, it's not like someone opens the paper one Sunday and says, "Hm! A Blizzcon! That sounds like fun, dear!"
But seriously, it's just a big marketing ploy, which is what bothers me. I'd rather these things be more like Ted Talks with some in-depth discussion, rather than 20 minutes of a hysterical 30 year old man screaming at the top of their lungs about Crusader skills. I mean, just look at that QA, their audience is getting A LOT older. I think I saw a 50 year old man in that QA.
But I'm weird or something and am probably missing the point of this entirely. And being a buzzkill.
(But seriously, did anyone really enjoy that guy screaming?)
Diablerie, my comment was more focused on counter-arguing what maka said, that people who go there only like it because they're "biased". And that they will always be excited about the new stuff.
Having been there, I find that statement to be completely untrue.
Some people go there only because they live nearby and play WoW. Some people go just to see the SC2 tournament. Some people go just because they wanna have a good time in a game-related convention, but are casual gamers that don't care about Blizzard too much.
I went there specifically to try Diablo 3 and watch SC2 tournaments, as I knew nothing of WoW news or things like that. So for me, the WoW news were pretty interesting (and fresh) and uninteresting at the same time (because I didn't play it).

How would a casual gamer that doesnt care about Blizzard much get a ticket? Didnt tickets sell out in like under a minute?
lmao cool panels........yeah that's why the audience was deader than Britney Spears in bed.
Assuming you werent there and only saw the panels on video...
The streams intentionally have the volume focus on the presenters rather than the audience. Just because you cant hear them responding doesnt mean they arent.
But ya, the guy orgasming from FotH on stage was a bit much.
How would a casual gamer that doesnt care about Blizzard much get a ticket? Didnt tickets sell out in like under a minute?
The same way a person who knows nothing about cellphone resources and doesn't use even 1% of their iPhones' resources waits in line to get the "brand new iPhone 22 Z".
In some cases, these people are friends of Blizzard fans. In some cases, they are parents just taking their children there. In some cases, they are professional cosplayers, but don't really care about the games themselves (and whether the "gameplay" is improving). In some cases, they are just travelling from Poland to know California and go because it's within their "vacation" time frame.
You kinda have to be there and actually make a conscient effort to talk to people to understand it (people who just wander around there probably won't agree with me).

Blizzcon tickets literally sold out in a minute. If you arent in line when the gates opened, you didnt get one. If you are in Poland and knew nothing about blizzard or blizzcon you WOULDNT be able to get a ticket because they went on sale around 4AM Polish time.
Do you honestly believe that, in general, the people that go to Blizzcon are not generally fans of blizzard? I am honestly confused on wtf we are even talking about now though. This has nothing to do with the topic. I haven't heard about any reactions from people about RoS and this thread isnt about RoS.
Well Blizzard did actually release something, a patch for those of us playing the console version, which screwed up leg drops.
On the bright side it did eliminate hell level gems from inferno.
I play @ Master 3 which can be a pain at times, and I get 50's level garbage or worthless crap 99% of the time.
The only reason I am able to even play at Master 3 is someone I met online crafted me a few decent items, enabling me to get past being stuck in the 99.9999 % junk zone of Master 1 and Master 2.

You do realize higher MP doesnt change the quality of drops, right? You just get a larger sample size to work with.
That company now has 5 excellent and prospering titles, with a 6th on the way and a movie in the works. There's enough to get anyone excited. Everyone that attended liked what they saw, which includes some of the most knowledgeable and hardcore audience this site has.
maybe I can give you an analogy of what goes on at Blizzard. Picture the management for the Diablo team functioning some where similar to the crew in The Office. Thus why they can get sooo much done

Blizzard used to care about releasing Diablo III, then they all took an arrow in the knee...

After a post like this (that first sentence alone is gold), I'm sure there's no point in continuing the argument. Sorry if the point drove home too hard.
There were no surprises at Blizzcon for D3..Nothing was a 'big reveal' for RoS... we knew everything apart from some adventure mode extra details. I am left a little sad.
Loot 2.0 has been talked about for months and I thought we would be a lot closer when Blizzcon came.. but instead it was barely touched on.
Type of Reveals i was hoping for:
'PvP' or "PvPvE" actual announcement
New 'Devils Hand'/Gheeds Machine/Gambling' systems
New Class
New Cinematic.. Part 2 of the opening Cinematic.. introduce Inarius and Lilth or something
New Crafting features - has it received any love?
Loot 2.0 release date.. I have eaten that carrot and don't want to wait any longer.
Nothing was really 'revealed' and it makes me think that the Datamined information was a mistake by Blizzard.. not a 'we know it will get datamined' type of thing...

You were crazy to hope for any of these. Given how deep you've read the datamining, especially the new class.
What they've announced this Blizzcon was stuff we've datamined. You've got only yourself for spoiling yourself.

Ha. Bagstone.
Didnt they say something that Loot 2.0, and the new paragon system would come this year in a Beta already?
They said they hoped it would. And lots of people subconsciously added in "definitely, we promise".
I'm glad you feel this way.
