I've recently come back to Diablo, after a break due to work and so on.
I just have a couple of questions, as I feel completely lost when I log into the game.
1.
Now I've been to each of the different class forums, read a bunch of posts about which character is most optimal for "farming" and so on. At the moment I have a DH with 106k DPS, decently geared I feel. Yet all I find is that people argue over what someone else has said, without getting to the actual point.
But when playing in public games, I notice either Wizards or Barbs just rolling through both mobs and elites with ease. Should I work on making one or what? Because I just notice it seems to be the class/characters to play if you want to farm MP10 or so on.
Either that or it's me that is doing something wrong, I can play MP3 without a big deal, but I feel I should be able to do more, with the amount I've "invested" in my character.
2.
Most of the farming routes I've found are only for MP10, and I can't do that, so is there any other optimal way of reaching that paragon 100 without being completely kitted out?
3.
What is the current "goal" so to speak in Diablo 3, as I've missed out on quite a bit since the release, ofc I can think getting to Paragon 100 is one of the main ones, but is there anything else?
Hopefully I don't seem to much of a noob and some of you will answer.
1) Play whatever class you like. Never play a class/spec just because it's the "most efficient one". It might work for a while, but after a couple of hours you get bored and quit, so in the end your paragon will be much higher if you play what you enjoy playing. WW barb is definitely the "most efficient", but it takes some time to get used to it and it's not everyone's cup of tea. Plus, if you play in a group it might not be suitable so much for some other classes/builds.
Although WW barb has easier access to higher MPs, it's not like 10 million gold will allow you to farm MP10. For some millions (or a few dozen millions) you might be able to survive on MP10, but it's not enough to farm efficiently (god, efficiency is such an annoying word in D3, but it sounds you're worried about that, so I'll use it). Wizards... well, in groups CMWW is quite strong, but it's also really tiring and might destroy keyboards and wrists. Archon is easy to gear for up to MP5, MP7 again some few dozen million if you're lucky, MP8+ is a matter of billions. Anyways: Play whatever you like most.
2) There's no specific route. Many people go Woods, Fields of Misery (incl. dungeons, in particular crypt), Weeping Hollow in act 1. But Vaults of the Assassins in act 2 is great as well, the traditional areas in act 3 are still fine but people are just bored of "Alkaizer runs", and even act 4 can be fun if you're not a glass canon. Whatever you decide to do, it's independent of MP level. You can do the Woods->FoM->Crypt->WH run on MP1 up to MP10. Pick the MP level that you can clear quickly (if you need more than 20 seconds on an elite pack, lower the MP; if you die frequently, lower the MP; if you one-shot everything and are bored, raise the MP). The optimal way of reaching paragon 100 is choosing class, spec, MP level, and areas that you like such that it doesn't feel like a chore.
3) The goal is to find a Puzzle Ring, a Murlocket, and a Grandfather, defeat Diablo with nothing except these items equipped and type /rickrolled at the very second he dies. Then the cow level will open and once you defeat the Raging Bull King, you have defeated the game.
Okay, I have no idea what you mean by "goal", but Diablo 3 after all is nothing but a game. ITS GOAL IS TO HAVE FUN. Here's some stuff that I did in the past few weeks: Hunted some achievements, like Rakanishu. Helped my friends to speed level every class to 60. Did the same for me, found out that DH isn't that bad after all. Bought some cheap crap gear to get 90 discipline and found out that you're absolutely invincible with 90 disc (facetanking phase beasts with permanent Gloom). Did some Sever/EP monk+DH+wiz action blowing up groups of elite packs on MP10. Tried out some "silly" builds on my monk (because there are so many fun builds). And recently, I went back to my barb that I had neglected for one year. Since the AH is shutting down in ~5.5 months, I might as well use it for the time being to try out some stuff.
It would probably be most efficient to farm paragon levels but I don't give a rat's ass about that. I work all day, D3 is my free time activity.

1) It's right, that both Barb and Wiz are more potent, while the DH is considered the weakest class by most people. I don't like to speak for the majority, but in this case, it's ok, I guess. 106k dps these days is considered low by standards of people who did not have such a long break. It's definitely ok for the time being, but don't try to do what most people brag about. It's still the most efficient way to play at a MP lvl low enough to 1shot white mobs. If it's MP0, so what? People have played MP0 for months because going up wasn't worth the effort. And you literally lag several months behind
2) MP only matters in one scenario: MP0 does not have the act1 and act2 buffs (like density), so act1 and 2 routes only work on MP1+. If it's 1 or 10 makes no difference otherwise.
3) Well, there are no official goals. I'd say beating the uber bosses on MP10 is the highest possible achievement. Besides that, you can farm xp and items until you get bored of that. Some people never bore, some do so after a day

Personally my recent goal was to find one of the Whimseyshire legendaries in Inferno with a +elemental damage roll to boost my Crusader through NM and Hell. I achieved that last weekend with 560dps Spectrumand my currant goal is to find a Hamburger, a Murlocket and craft a Hellfire Ring (preferably 2 so I can further boost my Crusader through NM and Hell).
Also it'll feel amazing if my WD hits 75k DPS unbuffed before Loot 2.0/x-pack hits (59.4k atm).
Your goal is whatever you want it to be.
