Me and a friend have recently bought the ps3 version of Diablo 3, It is his first time ever playing D3 but I have it for the PC. Before we start playing we've been trying to figure out a good combination for a 2 man team. Except we haven't been able to agree on a good team. If you could help us out that would be great.
Monk with Cyclone paired with a Rapid-Fire/Bombardment DH is simply amazing. Add Valley of Death,Blinding Flash and Explosive Palm for extra awesomeness

I agree. The only problem in that group play is that you will have less loot to give to each other because you need same or similar gear (except for the weapon). So, as a "backup" to monk/DH combo I'd suggest one of you start a wizard, as wizard+monk is probably as much powerful as DH+monk. The monk shouldn't go Tempest Rush though, as the wizard can't keep up with his speed. But all other builds work great in combination with wizard, and the wizard can go both low/mid MPs (Archon) as well as high MPs (CMWW), so you've got a lot of flexibility (DH is limited due to its costly requirements for higher MPs).
If you don't mind duping items i.e not playing 100% legit, then you should go for monk + dh... On console the drops are good so dh is playable on high mp. Just make sure to create each character on a different playstation user (if you want to use the dupe).
I'd suggest Wiz and DH as those seem to be the classes you're most interested in and it reduces the chance of arguments over drops.
Given that they are playing console I should imagine it will be very difficult to find gear for specific builds without hacking, and the high stat rolls will mean almost any build will work.
how do people seem to keep having the trouble of "the barb just runs off".
either you guys are wasting time on single straggler mobs or you are playing with clueless barbs^^
This is about exactly what I'm thinking. You guys have to remember that OP is playing with a friend and on the console (where the barb CANT run off). At the very least non-barb friend says "hey cut that ship out."
There were a lot of good suggestions here, but I think what it comes down to is really just your own play styles. I've played all of the classes and there are good combo builds for pretty much any combination. Some of the most popular ones revolve around a combination of a stationary monster holder (IE CMWW Wiz or Monk with [that ability that pulls all the monsters together]) and then some massive dps dealer (Firebat WD, Rapid fire:bombardment DH, Hota:Smash Barb). I've had a lot of good luck with WW barb going out and getting a lot of mobs aggro'd and bringing them back to CMWW or Firebats too.
Does it really matter @barb discussion? Read about their interests: It seems like OP is leaning towards wizard and/or monk, and his friend towards DH and/or monk. Since DH+wiz is not a superb combo (trust me, playing that since release) monk+wiz followed by monk+DH should be the answer.
I don't know about game play on console though, in terms of barb speed or CMWW viability. However, the basic set of skills should be the same if I'm not mistaken, and the most important thing is what they're interested in, and barb+WD seem to come last on that list ;-)

If you're playing with a typical WW barb, and the rest of the party is typical builds of other classes, they just dont have the movement speed to keep up with the Barb. The barb needs to move fast to keep up its wotb so they're usually off by themselves so it leads to poor team play and that's not syngerized. I personally hate playing with ww barbs if I'm not playing a barb either. But yes on the console, things may be different.
It's not hard to see why the barb can farm so much faster than any other class and why a nerf was in order to perma wota/into the fray/ww mechanic.
My preferences:
-I've played witch doctor way to long
-Tired of Barbarian after D2
-Interested on try a wizard for the first time
-Don't mind doing a support monk
-I have no opinion on DH
His preferences:
-interested in Monk
-Has no opinion of barbarian
-very interested in DH
-un interested in Witch Doctor
-Unsure on his opinion on wizards
Cyclone monks are nice with CMWW wizards, firebats wds, and some other builds.

My best online friend has an (AH Bought) MP10 WW Barb, a competent WD, but has mostly mained DH.
All up, the WW Barb just runs off, the WD cant keep up, but the DH can dish out some serious DPS while my Monk tanks, or my Wiz stun locks everything.
Oops, I missed that part.
There should really be a console sub-forum, the game play is entirely different, and if things get mixed up like this it's not gonna help.

No seriously, you need to spam click so much it just doesn't work that well on a controller rather than the keyboard.
I personally combined the usual CM build with sleet storm so now it's pretty awesome.

Agree Monk's cyclone strike which sucks them together goes great with a lot of builds. It works for Metoer and archon wiz and also wd cloud of bats.
