It makes a ridiculously effective Monk off-hand for PvP.
50% stun on a Monk that hits 3 times per second = perma stun-lock.
People really need to start thinking outside of their little DPS bubble.
If you want a good laugh, bring a Monk with you on an MP10 Uber that has a Sledge Fist. It's.....hilarious.
The reason he may want to farm them is the cost and availability. There are only 16 on the AH with a socket. Less than 8 with 40%+ Stun on hit. 40%+ Stun are listed for several hundred million.
Depends on the stats. Not sure if they're actually selling that high or what, it's hard to tell. You know how it is. People are always willing to sell items for 3 times what they'd ever be willing to pay for it themselves.
If I were the OP, I'd just save up the gold and farm Inferno for other items. He could farm Hell for 12 hours a day for 5 years and never find one.

It's not that hard to find specific drops in earlier difficulties tbh. Max mf, crazy kill speed and a relatively low number of possible legendaries in any given level range make it a pretty simple matter. And this is from experience, with Leoric Signet and Puzzle Ring (keeping in mind that MF cap was 375% back then)
ahhh...I'll take you on your word. I've never farmed low-levels/pre-Inferno.

My own experience in farming Leoric's Signet and that of many many people who posted their frustration on a forum, ruksak is absolutely right that you can spend days farming low-level legendaries and never see a drop. Note that it's a simple calculation: if an item is "easy to farm", people wouldn't pay hundreds of millions for it. Plus, if you rather "farm the money" on Inferno, you get the chance for other legendaries as well. On lower difficulties there's nothing but this one item you can get.
Did I miss a memo? Afaik even on MP10 the pre-inferno MF is only 100% (https://bnetcmseu-a.akamaihd.net/cms/gallery/12WG04HJSAPA1349948178084.jpg?v=0), which shouldn't make that much of a difference (375 vs 475 with full NV5). Plus, mob density changes were only introduced to Inferno; on lower difficulties you still get the sometimes empty areas.
I think I farmed for about ~20 hours once without a single legendary drop. 10 legendaries per hour - sorry - is just not correct. I did several pre-inferno runs for achievements or power leveling with a super fast TR monk rushing through an entire act in a couple of minutes (MP10 max NV5 of course) and I never ever got more than 2 legendaries in a run (and many runs without a single one).

Even with 600% MF on my p100 Monk (Inferno).....sometimes MANY (3-4) hours will go by without even so much as a junk Leg drop. Sometimes, I get 2 Legs before I even get 1 NV.
You certainly won't ever catch me farming Hell with shit for MF, looking for a specific Leg.
I really wish they'd open up ALL Legendaries as drop-able in Inferno, similar to what we had in D2, where you could get a iLvL4 Unique in Hell mode.
I can see why an iLvL60+ can't drop in pre-Inferno....but why can't an iLvL10 drop in Inferno?
20 hours without legendary drop? That just doesn't sound possible, unless you had 0 mf or the worst bad luck streak in human history (??)...
You call it "worst bad luck streak in human history", I call it "story of my life". ;-)
Not 0 MF, but something between 200 (NV5, MP10, some MF) and 300. It's not like it's 10 times as much, maybe maxed you find twice as much (so only 10 hour streak, haha).
@ruksak: welcome to my world, I really would like to know which "loot god's temple" I need to visit to find this "constant stream of X legendaries per hour" that some people talk about. Loot is random, and random is the opposite of these "constant streams".

OH man you fuckin noob!!! It's right between to that merchant that hands out billions in free gold and that angel with huge tits that gives out all the luscious blowjobs your wang can handle.
People exaggerate. I'm certainly far from a "pro" d3 player....but I've played enough to know that there is no such thing as a reliable "stream" of Legendary drops. Max MF is max MF.......it only goes so high. There have been many times where I've walked out of the Keep Depths with 3-4 Legs. Conversely, there have been many times where I've literally done every area in Act 3 without even 1 Leg drop....I mean nothing dropped at all.
Back when I tired my hand at farming leorics, spent about 10-15 hours on it, typical TR monk build. I got a bunch of low level legendaries, they dropped all the time but I didn't find any leorics.
low level farming is really hair pulling frustrating and that's coming from a player who has farmed big time down there (leoric/stolen ring/leoric's crown/buriza/puzzle ring - never a homunculus though) and somehow it's just not worth it.
take it as a 'for botters only' kind of farming down there. it's not impossible just that the time spent there is not worth it (no bonus item bonus and density so it's all act 3 except for leoric)
when i held my contest to let participants farm 10 legendaries in each difficulty (normal/nightmare/hell/inferno) all got stuck at hell.
only 4 participants made it, a lot gave up
still, tr monk is the way to go. no way other toons can save you from the frustration down there
Yeah it's sadly very boring and you lose out on experience which really bothers most people. Maybe it's more viable once you hit plvl 100 (?)
i wouldn't say so. let's say paragon level 0 = 0.000001% for leg drop while paragon 100 = 0.00001%
something like that
i'm pl100 and do nightmare/hell from time to time and the results are pretty depressing
although funny thing to note was when i first reached pl100 and farmed nightmare for the first time (merely was curious what legendaries i can find down there) and voila, 5 puzzle rings and 2 buriza in a single day run (15 hours)
but that's really it. no matter what i do now, either nothing or crap legs (arreat's law/safron wraps/etc etc) no puzzle/buriza anymore
What he was saying is not that the legendary drop rate is significantly higher on p100, but that p99 and lower characters get almost zero XP when doing pre-Inferno difficulties and it feels like you're missing out on a lot of XP you could game if you spend the time on Inferno instead ;-)
As it is ilvl49 what is the best place, is it NM/Act4 or Hell/Act1 or someplace else?

Said farming on my TR monk was done in May/June 2013 :-) Nothing's changed since then.

right now , 45% stun is about 500m
