I will start with a short example.
Since patch 1.0.5 I've been collecting all the crap legendaries I've found.
When it got to about 80 items I've salvaged them all and sold the entire brimstone pack.
Low and behold, a few minutes after the pack was sold, I got a (crap) legendary craft plan drop for the first time.
This indicated to me that the drops are somehow affected by your play style and/or AH usage.
If I enhance this indication, I can assume that RMAH users get better drops.
Better drops for RMAH users = more money for Blizzard.
Personally, my best drop in nearly 500hours playtime was a Skorn that sold for 150mil in GAH about 2 months ago, which let me build my barb.
I don't use the RMAH.
Would love to read your thoughts and personal experience about it.
Reading the absurdity in the OP has dropped my IQ by a factor of ten. Pairing said absurdity with the word "theory" put me in a state of idiocy.
I have to go read something intelligent to salvage what's left of my brain.
This, and also our naivety to have bothered coming in here with a title like that.
I spose we really just are our own worst enemies.
@OP: You keep stroking that tinfoil hat boy! Don't forget though, aliens built the pyramids and George Bush has the facts about it in his secret alien-proof bunker under Area52, right next door to the Jewish Banker's vault where they keep all the world's money!
Would love to read your thoughts and personal experience about it.
My thoughts are that you should be put in a padded cell for your own protection. The only effective way I've found to get more drops is to kill more monsters. I'm sorry that you wasted even 15 minutes of your life dreaming this up because even if you spent those 15 minutes flipping a coin it would have been a better use of that time.
Well OP your theory is a little flawed because you haven't tested the other part of your theory. You should probably start trying to use the RMAH and then see if your drop rates increase. Good luck
This is a great find, OP. I'm actually gonna help you get better drops. If you add me ingame, I can put up some nice items on the RMAH (except for I only have crap items, so by "nice" I mean useless). You can buy my items, thus you're flagged as frequent RMAH user and you get better loot. WINWIN!
At least there's hope for humanity, as all the (sane) answers here show... it seems like everyone (except for the OP) has understood RNG. Good job!

I think spending about $1000 would be a good starting point.
Serious though.....it has come to my attention in recent months that there really are that many people whom contrive fantastic, secret reasons for why they haven't gotten X amount of drops. RNG is a difficult concept for some minds. It is such a simple formula for generating item drops, that it, in it's mere simplicity, causes disbelief and distrust by certain "types" of people.

So much stupid, and so many jerks... Not the OP, but many of those responding : )
It's not a bad theory, but disproving it is just as impossible as proving it, so it's kind of moot... Blizzard did indeed claim that AH usage affects the game (design), but I don't recall them specifically stating how...
However, those that use the RMAH frequently (to sell), do indeed get better items (more often) than those that don't.
Your opinions may differ on that, but note one special point. I'm not arguing cause and effect. : )
I have put some very nice gear on the RMAH. Not one piece of it sold. I then sold all of it on the Gold AH. And sold the gold on the RMAH. Does that mean i will get more legendary drops?
i noticed this too, everytime i use the RMAH i get mempos and witching hours dropping out the sky, but whenever i use the gold AH i get wizard hats.....
but on a real note this topic is trolling at its best. he uses the rmah and then gets a legendary pattern drop so this makes him think using the rmah will award him better drops?

I got a Capt Crimson and Sage's plan both of which are not bad, the Capt's are great for leveling up. I don't even have that many hours played compared to many people here.

Yes, and then when the internet explode from that, they went and clarified that it did NOT affect drop rates. So we're back to the OP coming up with a theory after a single data point, which is really about as scientific as foil hats.
