But it's barely played in South Korea for example. "All those esports and competitions" The same ones that Blizzard explicitly doesn't support lol? Esports = Other people making money off of Blizzard's game, that's the truth. It's difficult for Blizzard to actually make money from supporting esports apparently.
Kespa plays Sc2 now. Second, http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Premier_Tournaments... over half a dozen 100k+ tourneys this year SO FAR, so while you think SC2 is "barely played in SKorea" due to what you probably heard of it when you followed the game in 2010, you are sorely mistaken.
SC2 is going strong, has good sponsorship and a solid player base.
As for D3, likely you're another person who got 100+ hours out of a non-mmo, non-pvp, non-competitive game and are crying about how it "sucks". The only slogan you forgot to include was asking for a refund like the "D3 is dead"-thread guy.
While I can - sort of - understand why someone would think like the OP does, I think the annual pass was put into place in order to get WoW players interested in a game with a much smaller fanbase.
As huge and nice and wonderful as Diablo is, the ratio of WoW players that knew about the franchise before the Annual Pass was announced was surely insignificant. Hell, in my own Guild there are people that STILL don't know what kind of game it is.

Diablo is, after all, a pretty unique franchise. Who else can boast creating a single-player game where you do the same thing for a hundred hours only for the purpose of doing that exact same thing for even longer, and succeeding at it big time?
The annual pass was designed to shore up numbers in between major expansions, when content becomes stale and most hardcore wow players drop off the face off the realm. It was a spectacular success.
So? Its win-win. Blizz keeps subs up, which stops others from considering cancelling their accounts, and keeps the shareholders happy.
Do not know much about WoW or Starcraft, I dont like those games. I do like however the Diablo series, lore and gameplay.
This is why I have never been into the other blizz games since they are boring to me. There is still hope for Diablo in my eyes, but maybe thats just because I am a pure Diablo fan, not a Blizzard fan.
You want a Diablo game? Play Path of Exile, the developers are more passionate about that game than Blizzard ever was with Diablo III. I personally enjoy PoE more than Diablo III.

Well, unfortunately their "passion" wasn't backed by proper resources because PoE looks like a cheap, cartoony indie game.
Blizzard has been made an easy target BECAUSE they've been so tremendously successful. For whatever reason, many people are inherently distrustful and cynical toward successful companies.
I will not respond to anyone making troll claims about conspiracy keanu or conspiracy theory or x-files. You are being purposefully ignorant of a gaming company that delivered a horrible game.
The business world is not conspiracy and anyone can see Diablo 3 was created as a secondary product behind World of Warcraft.
To anyone who claims the WoW annual pass was put into place to get people interested in a game with a much smaller fanbase;
The annual pass gained them 1 million Diablo 3 players. It sold 6 million copies (with a large part of that number refunded quickly after launch). It's quite clear the Annual Pass was created as a way to pad subscription numbers by utilizing Diablo 3.
There is no conspiracy here. Financial success does not mean game success.
A little math:
Around a year of 2 and a half million subscriptions to WoW will garner Blizzard more money than all of the sales of Diablo 3.

Yay for tinfoil hat claims. Heavy on a drama but light on common sense and facts. Quality entertainment!

For whatever reason...
So...because a company has been successful they must be up to no good? I would far less trust an unsuccessful company looking for a quick money grab before shutting down.
Let me leave you with this example: a friend of mine started playing D2:LoD for the first time ever about a month or so ago (he's not a big gamer). Obviously, I jumped on the opportunity to have someone to play D2 with. After completing NM with him, I had a chilling realisation: even after years and years of intensive D2 playing, I was having more fun playing it than I was playing D3. That, to me, summed up the type of game that D3 is. I was sad. Make of this what you will.
D2 was awesome, I won't argue that. However, it wasn't shit before LoD. I honestly feel that Blizzard will build this game into the masterpiece it was meant to be. It's going to take time.
PS; How the hell can you stand to play D2? It's soooo......played out....old.....jaded.....same 'ol same 'ol...bugged....barren.....and spammed to infinity with bots.....how the hell can you do that?
I've tried twice since retiring in late 07 to return, once in 09 and again a year later in 2010.......it was like "viewing" the same porn for the 1,000th time.
Get some new porn and have some patience, and maybe a little faith, bro.

What a joke.
And people say I'm the conspiracy theorist without any logic or proof.
I suppose this is the state of the "Diablofans" website when the only game they have to be a fan of failed miserably in ways even the game developers acknowledge and understand full well.
Diablo 3 is fundamentally flawed. They cannot fix it and nothing they do will give it a "Lord of Destruction."

It's fact. D2, when released, was vanilla and plain. Rather boring and without any real itemization dynamic.
A year later it was transformed into the best ARPG ever made. This is fact....you cannot refute it.
I suppose this is the state of the "Diablofans" website when the only game they have to be a fan of failed miserably in ways even the game developers acknowledge and understand full well.
The developers never acknowledged that the game is a failure, that is a lie.
Take a good look at what's occurring on the official Bnet forums right now, as I type this. A couple of users took it upon themselves to do a massive call-out of all the "I QUIT/RAGE/THIS GAME SUCKS" posters, some going back over 2 months ago, and proving through the use of the profile system that, in fact, they did not quit. They're all still playing.
Diablo 3 is fundamentally flawed. They cannot fix it and nothing they do will give it a "Lord of Destruction."
Your post is fundamentally flawed. There is nothing stopping them from developing this game in lockstep with player feedback into a much better experience than even the great Diablo 2.
I'm sorry you claim to not like this game, but many many people do.
If only 1/10th of all the people whom bought D3 didn't like it, a ratio that would be very good by any standard, that would be a million people espousing hatred for the game. Which would send a profound false narrative that "most people" don't like D3.
I'm not saying those are the actual numbers....just an example of how the vocal minority creates this skewed dynamic with such ease.
Blizzard has been made an easy target BECAUSE they've been so tremendously successful. For whatever reason, many people are inherently distrustful and cynical toward successful companies.
Gamer psychology 101: "You made a game I fell in love with! You must be gods! I will bow to thee and worship thy name for eternity!" (1 sequel later) "WTF?! This isn't the work of Gods! What the hell did I do all the worshipping for? I have been betrayed! You must be demons! I curse thy name and pray it will never be uttered in my presence again!" (another sequel gets announced) "Really??? Ok, scratch that, you can do it this time! I know there's some divinity left within you!" (it comes out) "Oh... #$^@... you're just human... right...".
That Diablo 2 and Lord of Destruction are over 10 years old.
And Diablo 3 had 10 years to learn from previous mistakes as they told us they did 100 times. And they didn't. And they made a worse game than Diablo 2 at launch and it's over 10 years old and was released in 2000.
What if I told you the game was developed for 5 years and its worse than Diablo 2 was before Lord of Destruction.
What if I told you the game cannot be patched or fixed because it is fundamentally broken, and it is FUNDAMENTALLY not the same game as Diablo 2 was.
What if I also told you, that when you make a mistake, you don't repeat it. If Diablo 2 was bad at launch, that means Diablo 3 should have been amazing at launch.
But no. No logic with Drones.

You ( and I did ) get free D3.
Where's the downside?

Take the blue pill.
This forum game needs more ban-hammer. I sympathize with the mods who have to slog through this trash day after day, but enough is enough.
Fixed that for you Mr. Confused Puppy.
