The b.net forums are total shit, absolutely worthless, and some facist moderation there is long overdue because the inmates are running the asylum.
There is a subculture of D3 people who think that verbally attacking Bashiok, or Jay Wilson, is the appropriate thing to do; that publically asking for people to be fired is appropos; that responding to every thread telling the world how horrible the game is necessary; and that anyone who thinks that any part of the game doesn't suck should be publically executed along with anyone at Blizzard who worked on D3.
These are mostly the same people who think that spamming the forums with topics will get them attention - it turns out they want a blue response, but they end up with a forum suspension, whoops wrong kind of attention. And they're the same people who respond with "I killed Diablo Inferno back on day 2, I have 1.98 million damage and you're a nub, stfu and l2p" when people ask for advice with their class.
For me it's less about removing opinions and it's more about removing people who are completely disrespectful, and in many cases outright hostile, to any opinion other than their own, including that of the Blizzard employees, and the rest of the community.
The sad thing is that all they accomplish is requiring more time and effort from Blizzard which surely either requires them to have more moderators on their staff (which costs them man-hours and money) or for the existing moderators to work even harder to keep the forums civil. It ultimately slows the communication between players and developers because the sound-to-noise ratio is so low, and that achieves nothing except delaying the changes these people are demanding. So, at the end of the day they are their own worst enemies.
Agreeing with what Shaggy said apart from one thing. This isn't for Diablo 3 only. All Blizzard games are like that. Visit each of their forums and you'll see the same thing.
"Protoss are fuckin OP and I quit this game because Blizzard are retards"
"Pandas in this bitch. Goodbye from me."
You're right, and I actually meant to draw a parallel between current D3 forums and early WoW forums which were quite hostile and troll-ish too. I just kinda got distracted by my own post and missed that part. Grrr!
The only problem I have with it is that banning them might cause them to come here or other forums I actually use.
I know the feeling. We've already had a number of people showing up here and creating obviously troll posts as their very first post (none too bright, it seems). But, in time, they get banned here as well.
Anyways i dont understand why are people complaining cos all other games are fail as well
Also Torchlight 2 will be a HUGE fail cos lack of any kind of anti hack protection ( chars will be stored on PC so it will be like open battlenet on Diablo 2)
I personally love Diablo III and i'm ok with it.
Oh man, I'm looking forward to TL2, but everytime I hear someone mention how TL2 will be better then D3 (in regards to online issues, not class balance) I get Borderlands flashbacks. I mean, that game was hacked inside out, to the point where someone figured out how to drop items that would make you literally invincible, and you couldn't unequip, much less drop. And this was on the 360, which is at least sort of a walled garden. TL2 pubby games are going to be INSANE.

Online games in Torchlight will be using a Runic Account. You can ban players from joining any of your games. People that use mods will only be able to play with people with the same mods. Runic will also be adding some tools to help the player to check if the player has hacked. Runic is giving the power to the player to police their own games and decide who they want to play with. They also plan on including a tool to check the latency between all the players as well.
I played the Beta for a few weeks (I was in the first wave after the F&F or at the very late stages of it).
Yes there will be hacks and such but I doubt it is really going to be that bad since there is no profit motif for it and there is no real competition. There will be PvP but there will be no ladders or other things like that. The game is just meant to be a good old fashioned Hack and Slash that you can play solo or in a group.

On Strike and supporting Fallout 4 Mod Makers
Some fallout 4 mod makers have had their mods stolen and uploaded and downloaded on Bethesda's site for the Xbox One.
People that use mods will only be able to play with people with the same mods.
That sounds like a nightmare. I could not imagine being able to, say, do a LFD in WoW unless all 5 people had the same mods. I cannot imagine the amount of hassle that creates when making new in-game acquaintences. Also, doesn't that basically eliminate public games? Or do you have to go change up your mods based on who is in the game to join? I can't fathom people could find that enjoyable.
EDIT
I do realize that the selection of mods for TorchLight 2 will almost certainly be much smaller than WoW, just to keep some perspective.
I've been plently negative/critical on the official forums. Even jokingly at points- not had an issue yet. A lot of the people claiming to be banned while "not" trolling are probably akin to the "wine gets you banned" people who were actually banned for botting. If anything, they need more moderation on the officials because 2/3 of the time when I look at the frontpage there are 2+ gold selling threads on the top ten most popular. And there seems to be no moderation after midnight sometimes:
That thread got 26 pages (limit) and multiple parts before being cleared up- over an hour heh. And even when they did clear it up, they deleted posts but left the thread up a while. The ascii penises ejaculating the text "aren't you thankful" were a nice touch.

Not too much information has been given on how it is done. Since the Mod making tool will likely be a month or so after the game is released.
There was a mod manager created for torchlight 1 that would be able to enable or disable mods. What may happen is that the online matchmaking service will be tied in with a mod manager so it can install the mods.
Runic might be looking to give the options to players to make their own private servers. Runic will not be hosting them but might be able to make the coding available

Makes sense cause people who hate the game can't post constructively. I understand why people are upset, sure I'm disappointed in a few things and want to see changes. When the forums consist of pure BS garbage they need to clean it up. Here's a guide maybe we can sticky it.
How NOT to post on the forums:
Topic - Magic Find SUCKS **** I'm Quitting.
Body - Blizzard you fucked Magic Find up I can't even play this game, fuck you, fuck Jay Wilson, fuck Activison. This is BS!!!!
How TO post on the forums:
Topic - Concerns about Magic Find
Body - I'm concerned about the way Magic Find currently functions. Currently the pros of it are A and B, yet X, Y and Z are flawed. If Y and Z could be changed to work more like "insert whatever here" then it would overall be better.
Life is hard people. Keep making it harder on yourselves.
People can cry and flame all they want...Blizzard doesnt care.
The only language major players like Blizzard understand is Money.
Uninstall the Software, stop playing their games, and simply dont care anymore.
I know its hard, ive been a long time Blizzard fan as well...but they need to understand one simple fact :
The Playerbase is the reason why Blizzard is such a big Fish right now...
And if a major part of the playerbase disappears, they might realise "shit we screwed up big time".
Its kinda like a Dog Relationship...
Kick your Dog away... it will turn around and come back to you... because it loves you.
But once in a while, it might happen that the Dog turns around...and bites you in the Arse.

Only if the dog you're describing is retarded so that we can have a full comparison.
Tell me what Blizzard doesn't care about? What have they not done or not promised to fix as quickly as possible?
Showing up on the forums alone is a huge thing for such a company. Do you know how much Valve or EA respond on their forums? You wanna count the replies? Bioware maybe? Most of what you get is "thanks for the feedback all!" and "do know that servers are going down for maintenance".
I think it's important for people who are upset to have a place to vent their frustrations. There does come a point though when it's just too much negativity and not enough constructive criticism. They use the forums as a means to see how people feel and what they would like changed. So when a lot of posters are just mindlessly bashing the game and offering no room for discussion it brings all real discussion to a grinding halt.
Well, yeah and a lot of it is still there probably as well, I don't think they're deleting it all. There is also a difference between constructive criticism and an unreasonable request. Things that would change core design elements that would cost more than they think may be worth it. They're not opposed to thinking about good ideas and making changes that are within reasonable reach, why would they be? They want the product to be as successful as it can be as well.
There does come a point though when it's just too much negativity and not enough constructive criticism.
actually, there is a lot of constructive criticism on the official forums, and i mean a lot.
Indeed. But it's buried by posts like "Why this game fails, pretty simple"
or
"Diablo3 was made only to ..." with body "get people to sub back to WoW."
or
"Inferno is too difficult"
or
"You're all thieves and criminals"
Etc., etc. Quotes.
And billions of posts on topics that have been discussed to death with nothing more to be added to them except "I agree"s.

actually, there is a lot of constructive criticism on the official forums, and i mean a lot.
I think "a lot" is stretching it, at least in terms of total percentage of posts, and I think THAT is why people are getting banned.
Any remotely-constructive criticism is completely drowned out by people posting swastikas, ASCII pensises, and referring to Jay Wilson as "Jew Wilson." It's not possible to deal with the quality posts (regardless of opinion contained therein) when you have to wade through miles and miles of ridiculous "YOU GUYZ KILLED THE SERIES AND NOW I'M GONNA KILL YOU" shit.
Just to highlight my point as to how asinine the b.net forums have been. I've seen a lot of good posts both pro-D3 and anti-D3 containing constructive criticism for improving the game. Every single one of them has been both "highly rated" and "reported."
Essentailly the butthurt haters report any post that doesn't say "FUCK JAY WILSON'S BUTTHOLE WITH A TELEPHONE POLE!!!!!one!!!" and the fanboys report any post that doesn't say "D3 IS THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST!!!!!!~!~~~!!@!1!~~!!!!" Yes, that's obvious exaggeration, and hopefully you did at least chuckle at it. We can discuss things and still have fun, damnit!
What does that do? It just creates more work for the mods. The absolute immaturity of the community, and the inability to concede that the game is not perfect, but it's also not garbage, and that you can disagree with someone's post without reporting it, is taking the forums from a tool used for feedback and communication to a burden on the Blizzard staff whose job it is to keep the forums alive and running for us. Instead of having something productive come from the forums, we get nothing but polarized bickering, and Blizzard has to sink even more man-hours into them so that they can continue to be somewhat used.
There is also a difference between constructive criticism and an unreasonable request.
There is one request which would take a lot of heat out of the situation, and really everybody is asking for it.
--> Make Loot better.
I mean, if you watch this youtube Video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmWSVsGE8Eg
Its a German Player, a Barb called "Moldran", and he is controlling the entire EU Market for the best 1 Hand Weapons.
He made over 400 Million Gold in 3 days...just flipping Items on the AH.
Something like this shouldnt be possible in a healthy Item-Economy....and why is it possible?
Because there are simply not enouth good Loots to trade with... thats the entire reason why everybody is pissed.

He got extremely lucky and inventive for his items to get sold. Not a lot of people can show for that. And while it's obvious that he's damaging the market he did it himself with no exploiting and just genuine marketing ingenuity. Kudos to him. The thing is that people buy that when the weapons could just be +300 dps to their own weapons. And it's obvious that if all his stuff sold - there are people who can buy it. And we're talking cream of the crop items, not "good loot".
All games have major economical players. Why should D3 be an exclusion?

Just a quick reply to that - as far as I seem to recall, reporting a post/topic is also a measure you have to undertake to vote said topic for sticky thus potentially getting some mod to read the information contained within!
