Hello, all. I'm here with the first of a short series of "What-If" scenarios, mostly out of curiosity. I'll be putting one up each Thursday morning until I run out.
The topic for this week goes as follows: A theoretical reward for a massive achievement opens up the ability to use TWO runes on any one active skill in your arsenal. The move will use the attributes of both runes, so (for example) Spirit Walk runed with both Jaunt and Honored Guest would end up as a 3-second Jaunt restoring 15% of your maximum mana per second. You gain one of these double-rune slots per character. It can be swapped later on just like any other skill selection.
What class, skill, and runes would you use? How would it change the way you play? Feel free to elaborate all you want here.
I think something like that would be a good idea for the expansion. Possibly by separating runes into primary and secondary, with the major damage boost being in the primary rune and the fun/utility/quality of life stuff being on a secondary rune. Then they could rejig a lot of existing runes to fit in those categories. Because some runes are fun or cool but you don't want to use them because there's another option that does way more damage or is just clearly better.
Heh, I got a poke asking me what I'd use. I play all 5, so here goes.
Witch Doctor: Hard choice, but probably Mass Confusion with Mass Hysteria and Unstable Realm. Dude needs his defense... if pets ever get buffed, then this becomes Zombie Dogs with Rabid and Leeching for immortal tanky goodness (would have Bad Medicine and Jungle Fortitude, of course)
DH: Elemental Arrow with Ball Lightning and Lightning Bolts, easy. Multi-striking, hard-hitting, and stuns on every crit? heck yes.
Barbarian: Wrath of the Beserker with Insanity and Thrive on Chaos. That thing will last FOREVER in a Frenzy build if you game it right, and I'd swap to a Frenzy-Boon build SO fast...
Monk: Mantra of Conviction with Overawe and Intimidation. Do I really need to explain this?
Wiz: Archon with Improved Archon and Teleport. Gives me that extra little dodge and mobility to set up the beam. In close second would be Energy Armor with Energy Tap and Force Armor.
Wrath of the Berserker with Thrive on Chaos and Slaughter. This would just be insane.
With the WW spec I'm currently running I would just destroy everything in like half a second.
Want this now!

OT: Not sure what I would do.
That would be sweet!
