I just found 2 legendaries in the entire game and 0 set items and i started to try act 3...i can advance, i kill 2 elites then a ultra powerful elite came i die 5 times, i lose money and that all.
Mobs that have gap closers which make them unattackable suck. Dune threshers, lacuni huntresses, and writhing deceivers in Act 2 are just ridiculous. If you can't tank them, kiting them is dreadful. Wasps are annoying but nowhere near as annoying as these other ones are.
The lack of randomization among maps is pretty perturbing. I assume it's a graphic engine limitation but most maps aren't remotely random. I certainly don't need D2 level of randomization, but the D3 level of randomization is nearly non-existant, and having random maps DOES decrease monotony of farming, believe it or not.
I finished act 1 and 2, but can't really do anything much in act 3. Act 2 I can kill most elite packs but there are still 10-20% that get just the right combination of affixes on just the right mob. It slows me down enough that even with the reduced ilvl, it still seems more profitable to farm act 1. So right now I am farming Act 1, over and over. I can do the majority of the elites plus warden / butcher in about 30-45min. I have come away with a few good things, but most of it has been trash.
Right now the only thing really keeping me playing is the RMAH, and that will only last a little longer.
I dislike having to farm for items I don't need, to sell on the AH, and hope eventually to make enough to buy an upgrade.
I don't like finding legendary items that are not even close to being worthy of the title.
I don't like that stacking resistances as melee is the only way to play.
I hate that the crafting portion of the game is nearly worthless. They took such a good idea and wasted it.
I don't like running into affix combinations on elites that can out right kill me in decent gear, regardless of what I do. Having mobs with built in affixes that can be difficult to deal with, and giving them 4 more (god help you if one of them is Horde or invulnerable), is insane. Or giving molten, waller, and vortex to something that hits extremely hard to begin with... All of that is poor game design.
Deaths because of bugs, glitches, or server issues. Things like being pulled back into fire because your escape ability malfunctioned somehow. Or being trapped INSIDE a wall from a waller mob. These things really hurt the gameplay.
In general, the biggest issue is with the way they approached the difficulty. Most people who actual enjoy difficult games will agree that dying because of something you did wrong, or failed to plan for, is good game design. They will also agree that dying because of RNG is very poor game design. In general, there should never be situations where you die to something that was completely unavoidable. Most would also agree that difficulty should steadily increase, not go up and down like a roller coaster. Somehow, Blizzard forgot all of this for D3....
one change that should be made is monsters with invulnerability/damage avoidance abilities (snake stealth, sand lizard diving, etc...) shouldn't also get shielding/invulnerable minions
it's not that they are too difficult, but too annoying
Shielding needs a way to be broken, either thru enough damage or thru a crit or something. It's just retarded that minions can pop it be immune for 6 seconds while they pound on you. Something needs a change here. They do less damage while shielded, can't move. Something. The ability needs a drawback. Mortar has a drawback (melee classes don't melee as much when they get this affix), firechains has a drawback (range groups don't attack from range as much, they want to circle around you), etc.
I agree with the above; the ones that can hide from attacks in some form - should never acquire the shielded affix or invulnerable minions.
