I love this game, as someone said it's not perfect, but it's a damn good game. other then FPS/MMOs and Skyrim i don't think i've ever put 200+ hours into one game, and still going strong.
Honestly, reading the official forums makes me lose faith in humanity, and want to smack a few people upside the head.
Diablo 3 is great but if i have to compare my enjoyment was better when i played diablo 2. I think the RMAH is killing the communication between players and the trade aspect which was one of the best part from d2 for me. The random attributes system is also something they should pay attention (quiver with intel, wand with strengh, crap legendaries, etc..).
Do people not remember that this was in D2 as well? i remember getting str wands and shit in D2 as well, although i guess all stats were used by everyone a bit more in D2 so it wasn't as big of a deal, but you still found some useless stuff (increased light radius anyone?)
I have tried very very hard to enjoy D3. I only played D2 for about a month or two, leveled a wizard to the mid 80s and then jumped to WOW with all my friends. I think one of the main things about D3 that is making a lot of people leave(and you cant deny that the game has lost a substanial amt of the player base of the past month) is the leveling system and talent points that D2 had.
When you call Diablo in D3 right now the game is technially over. All that is left is to keep doing it and collect gear. It is a nice accomplishment and feels good to kill Diablo on Inferno and beat the game but once I did that I was just thinking what am I working towards now. In D2 after Baal you still had a long time to go till you got to 99 so you had something to work towards. I don't have the incentive in D3 now.
I have decided to put down the game for now and play the MOP beta(which is less buggy then D3 it seems). I hope once they fix legendaries and possibly figure out a better solution for end game I will come back.
Great but not amazing, a few things need updating (which Blizzard stated they will address). I'll reserve my final judgment after the expansion, D2 had similar issues and it became god like after the expansion. Overall they have improved A LOT of game play compared to D2; the main gripe with people is the items (I'm optimistic that this can be fixed).
The major complaints that won't (or not likely) be addressed is sad random maps, pony level sucks compared to cow level, and the usefulness of lower leveled items. I agree the shift of itemization for D3 is required to fulfill its endgame mechanic (item farm instead of level farm) but the fact you could find 30-50 level uniques in D2 and still want to use them for end game was something special.
There is lots of potential but it’s too early to properly label the success of the game.

Playing Diablo since 97. I know nothing and having nothing good to say, I be a troll.
I honestly can't think of anything from D2 I really miss.
I have to admit, I miss runewords and charms a lot. I hope Blizzard brings them in soon. haha.
See though as with Diablo 2, those things we're brought in with an expansion (for some reason people don't recgonise that) and I'm sure when the D3 expansion gets released we will have new stuff like that. Though I'm hoping not charms ><. They were just annoying.
I like D3 too! It's not a clone of D2, some things are better, and some things are not, but overall, it is just as fun. Can't wait for more content either! Hopefully the rmah will be able to finance more ongoing care and attention from Blizzard than D2 ever received.
One more point. I think that a portion of the people who complain about the game, are just growing up. Tastes change. I used to run around the yard playing imaginary war with my neighbor friend, or play with hot wheels cars. That stuff just isn't fun anymore. I wouldn't be surprised if many of the people that don't thing D3 is fun compared to D2, are teenagers whose tastes have changed.

I realize that.
